Days Inn used to be an economical nice place to stay. Well, the economical is still there but it's no longer a nice place to stay. The hotel is very dated. Walking down the hall to my room, you could see the stains on the carpet. I don't think it's been cleaned in decades. The smell wafting from this carpet was nauseating! Fresh paint on the walls couldn't help this smell. Then I opened the door to the room. OMG the smell was twice as bad and the carpet was twice as dirty. To the store I went to grab some extra strength Fabrese. I used a whole bottle on the carpet, curtains, chairs and bed spreads. I bought some portable fresheners too and put one in the bathroom. The only thing I can say nice about the room is at least the bed was comfy.
The desk staff...well, I know we're getting through a pandemic and everyone is short handed, but front desk staff should be welcoming and pleasant. One particular gentleman on in the morning hours was rather surly!
For the free breakfast, don't go by the picture on the website because it doesn't look anything like that. The picture looks like they have hot food bins like for eggs and such. They do not. The only thing hot is the waffle you can make. It was the basic continental type breakfast...cereal, toast/bagel, etc. I'm on a restricted diet so at least there was yogurt and banana except when they ran out.
Housekeeping service was ok. This hotel is so old they still have windows you could open. When I came back to the room after housekeeping had been there, the window was left open. Not good with the homeless around. Plus it was daggum cold while I was there and it chilled the room where I had to put on the heater. And why put a tag in bathroom stating to leave towels you don't need replaced on the racks when housekeeping takes them anyway? So much for saving water.
And that brings me to the painful part of this story. Taking a shower when someone in the room nearby uses the shower or flushes a toilet will either scald or freeze you. I could hear housekeeping cleaning the room next to me. I was in the shower and hear the water in the next room come on. I was soon drenched in ice cold water. Once she shut the water off mine came back to normal.
The electric socks in the bathroom are upside down. Most times the larger prong is to the left not right. The bottom plug didn't work at all because it was too loose from people I supposed trying to put the plug in like normal but it didn't work.
I was traveling from out of state and thought I could save a few bucks. I have learned from this experience to read reviews first and then select. Cheaper most definitely...
Read moreWe have stayed here consistently since 2012 at least 3 times a year. The location is great. However upon our recent visit this weekend it was apparent there was management changes. Front desk was not very friendly, let her daughter activate room key cards, not cool. So many employee kids running around employee areas. Upon rising Sat morning we left room 10 am returned at 330pm our room wasnt clean and housekeeping still in rooms cleaning, beyond check in time. Needed towels so went to ask them, they went thru their clean pile looking and came up with 2. When we left again at 430 pm inquired at desk why our room wasnt clean and housekeeping still there, as in past they gone by 2pm. Was told they dont come in til 2pm and made a note about room. Returned at 9pm still not cleaned, not happy. Housekeeping gone by now. Desk clerk was busy evicting people from lobby looking to spend night sleeping in lobby. Awoke sunday, breakfast a joke, no one in breakfast area at 830 am it doesn't close til 9am. No coffee anywhere or coffee cups. So gave up on breakfast and left. At check out told desk clerk again about no cleaning of our room. No mention of a discount off since we didnt sign on for a dirty room, no wifi, shower thats either too hot or too cold. Not to mention dirty holey carpet in the hallways. Cars parked in red zone all night with no regard for those in parking spots unable to back out effectively. Take this review as you want but we were loyal patrons for 6 yrs of this hotel knew the breakfast girl well and 1 of the former desk clerks well as well. For future visits we will be at Embassy suites down the road, $15 more you get a clean room, made to order breakfast, happy hour 1 comp drink and...
Read moreIm a disabled veteran and thought based on my budget, this would be the place to go. Wife and I stayed in a suite that the bathroom wasn't accessible. No problem because all the other accessible rooms were taken. There was a way I could maneuver in the bathroom but just needed maintenance to take off the bathroom door for more room. It's not like I requested for them to change the tub into a accessible shower or anything. Did they help me with my needs? NOPE. After i checked in and my wife moved everything into our room, they told me that they wont take it off but could refund my money to look elsewhere at other hotels. Like really??? You waited until we grabed ALL of our stuff from the car to the 3rd floor to tell us no?? There was no other hotels within my budget anyway so I was screwed. I had to use a bucket for my bowel program in the bedroom/dining room so you can imagine the smell. I had to spend more money showering at a Golds Gym. My wife and I encountered a couple of rude front desk employees. When my wife was in the process of washing clothes, she needed more change to use the dryer. Since you have to use quarters to use the washer/dryer machines, she only needed change for $4. After discovering that there wasnt a change machine and went to the front desk requesting for quarters, they said that it could take the next day to get it. Why not get a change machine to avoid this mishap? I thought that the front desk and maintenance would provide at least an above and beyond customer service but it turns out that the housekeepers are better than them. I truly hope that ADA and Days Inn corporate sees this and realize how bad this location is with people with...
