This is a great, clean little place. We were passing through and needed just 2 rooms for one night for my family of 6. They have recently remodeled, so you dont feel like you are in a seedy motel from the 80's. Everything is new, simple, and clean. The price just can't be beat, compared to other local lodging availability. 2 rooms for less than $100. Fantastic! If you are traveling on a budget, I highly recommend the Colonial Motel. We will have this place at the top of our list next time we pass through. It is in a quiet area. Trains pass nearby but I couldn't hardly hear a thing in my room. Very quiet. The only drawback to mention is the owners (albeit so extremely friendly) are very difficult to get ahold of. I tried for over an hour to book a reservation, calling several times, only to have the front desk phone ring unanswered. I thought that was so strange. I was relieved when I finally got an answer. The owner was so kind, and held 2 rooms for me. We had been instructed that the preferable checkout procedure was to leave the card key in the room and shut the door. In the morning, completely to the fault of my teenager, he forgot an item in the room AFTER we had closed and locked it behind us with the key left inside. This was about 8:40am. We needed the owners (who man the front desk themselves) to make a new key card for us. They were nowhere to be found. The front office was locked up and dark! No one was in charge at the Motel. We called. We knocked. We waited. We finally went to get gas and breakfast. 40 minutes of incessant calling later, they answered the phone. We went back and retrieved my son's belongings. Again, his fault. But this just highlights how communicating with the staff is totally hit-and-miss at best. After the owner made us a new key card, we noticed he crossed the parkinglot and went next door to a nearly identical motel called Ranchero. He entered a room there. It is my theory now, that they manage both motels, side by side. Maybe that is why there is no one consistently available at the front desk of the Colonial? I would say that if you are getting no answer at the Colonial, check or call at the Ranchero next door. Maybe...
Read moreWhen I arrived at 4 pm there was no one in the office. I rang the bell that is outside and still after 15 minutes and several rings I'd given up. Now what do I do?As I was preparing to leave a nice gentleman that was staying there told me to try the corner room. I did. When the door opened there was jewelry making being done. Someone in the room said that someone would be right out. I waited about 10 minutes and a Navajo Woman came out. She explained to me that the Owner, an Indi woman was not there that day and she was covering for her. I checked in and got my room. Next there was no chair in front of the computer desk. No chairs at all in the room. Only a bed and a desk with TV above it. room overall was old but clean. I again had to return to the "corner room" to get assistance as front desk did not reply. The woman again when told of no chair had me take one out of another room. Then no problem until I was ready to retire for the night. The sheets were terrible condition. I could not tell if they were not washed or if they were just real old, yellowish and stained terribly. I slept on them any way. The next day when I took off the old stained and yellowish bottom sheet I found the mattress cover to be filthy and terrible stains on it. It was a zip on so doubt if it has ever been cleaned. There were a couple hairs, fuzz, and dust dirt on top of it that the bottom sheet had been covering. Over all it was quiet, the heater worked, slow drainage on the bath sink. The WiFi definately did not work. Three times I checked with the relief woman and also another gentleman who seemed to be with her, and both told me the password to get on. The man told me to make sure that I capitalized the first letter and then lower case letters for the rest and no spaces. NOPE! Never did work. So do not plan on WiFi and make sure you check the sheets are clean before you book this room. Of course I realize you get what you pay for. I see now why the parking lot had only a total of 5 vehicles not including the Mgr's vehicle in it for the entire time I was there Afternoon, night,...
Read moreGood little motel. The guy at the front desk is very nice and helpful. He let us look at the room first. We told him the refrigerator was gone and he took the time to find us one while we went to the nearby Walmart and brought us extra towels we requested. He also ensured everything was in working order before we came back. Cost was $70 for one night, we did not make a reservation in advance. Had no noise problems from other rooms.
I do have to knock off a star though because the floor was filthy. Itâs a vinyl floor, no carpet, and it really needed to be swept and mopped. Everything else including the bathroom seemed clean. The room we were in had a random table under the window as if someone stands on it to look into the room. Thankfully the window does have curtains.
Amenities include TV with Direct TV service and hundreds of channels to choose from, microwave, refrigerator, cups provided in the bathroom along with soup and shampoo packets, towels and wash clothes, 2 beds, a small table, and desk.
Only two somewhat small pillows are provided on each queen size bed, so is you like pillows be sure to bring a few of your own.
Overall it wasnât a bad stay, and would stay again if I ever end up in the area again as...
