The first two rooms I went into smelt like really bad body odor. The third room that I finally settled on was a lot better as far as the scent when entering the room. However, that change quickly when getting to the bed. That body order stench was heavily on the comforter. From how busy the lobby was at 5pm, it looks like there are a lot of longer-term residents living here.
That brings me to the service. The man at the front desk and Rashelle were completely unprofessional. The lady told me her name was Rashelle, but she didnât have a name tag, so weâll go with it. The guy with her didnât have a name tag either. The guy didnât look like he worked there with his very casual wear of a t-shirt and jeans but acted like he worked there. Checking in was really awkward and the Casually-dressed guy complained about Navajo employees bringing their families with them here. Iâm not here with family but the hotel employees here seem to strongly distain having Navajo families here. Weirdly prejudice or racist. We donât live here nor work for the Navajo Nation. T-shirt dude was on a power trip. Fast forward to finally getting the non- stenchy room. While waiting for someone to come to the front desk, no one showed up until I tooka photo of the contact info of the corporate ownerâs info on the wall. Rashelle was visibly upset. While going to check out the other room options she had Rbf, was completely silent, and had short answers if any. When we went back downstairs to the front desk. She went to the back and brought back keys. Strangely, her demeanor changed. She was oddly smiley and very chipper at this point. Very uncharacteristic of the previous 5 minutes with this woman. I went to get my stuff from the first room to moved it to the non-stinky room. When I got to the door, neither keys would unlock the door. Not surprised at all based on the characteristics of this woman. That explained her change in demeanor. I went back downstairs with all of my bags for keys that were actually programmed and not the blank ones she previously gave. I asked that she accompany me to ensure that both keys were programmed this time. It seemed like she wanted a reaction from me. Being from a small town like this, girls like her arenât new to me. I grew up with these types of small-minded bullies. I honestly felt sorry for her. May she have a better day than her impact on mine.
On to the location. It was a nightmare trying to figure out how to enter the property with the construction right outside. There are also renovations going on. Itâs not pretty, but hopefully they finish soon.
All in all the service was terrible. The rooms smell bad. Getting on the property is a headache. And renovationâs are occurring. I would not recommend this place and would never stay here again. I regret going along with plans to stay here. I shouldâve requested Hilton Garden Inn instead, which is where I usually stay while Iâm here because they have wonderful service, their rooms donât smell, and it just feels better. However, others that Iâm with were interested in the free breakfast at this location, so live and learn I guess. If you still decide to stay here after reading this, may your stay be...
Read moreMy husband, toddler and I stayed here on a road trip. Firstly, it was hard to find a way to the hotel, as there is construction cutting off access from the main street. After many attempts, we found access but by then, the area around the hotel was clear; it is NOT a good area (and Iâm saying that as a Chicagoan). Tweakers and homeless everywhere. It felt extremely unsafe.
That said, the hotel was pretty clean (not immaculate but still nice) and check in was a breeze. The woman at the front desk was lovely. Upon entering our first room, the air conditioner was running but now working (it was also super loud). We went downstairs for a new room, and the front desk woman was super helpful. We got to our second room and while the AC was even louder than the last one, it was working.
However, our tub backed up, one of the lights over the beds didnât work, and our fridge froze everything.
We decided to run out for dinner but it was 7:30 and everything closed at 8pm except several fast food spots. Now I know why! We rolled up to Wendyâs and parked and immediately two very creepy looking guys approached our car. I immediately backed up and we decided yo use the drive through. While in line, the guys approached other cars and stole a hitch from one, running off. By the time we had our food, one of them was back and came towards our car, even as we were driving off.
We feared for the safety of our vehicles and the several items we had to leave in our car overnight.
The pillows were old and smashed and the mattress dipped when I laid. But the room looked clean and the hotel was quiet through the night (even with our room being next to the elevator). We didnât take part in the breakfast in the morning except to get our son a bowl of cereal, but it seemed decent and folks were attending to the line.
So, while the hotel was ok for a road trip sleep, I wouldnât dream of having to stay in Gallup again. There was a Hampton Inn on the other side of their Main Street, next to a Walmart that looked to at least have a bit of a barrier between it and the stretchy parts. Maybe that hotel is better just...
Read moreThis has to be by far the best hotel out in this part of the city of Gallup. Most of our stay was very enjoyable and it was great to have some downtime and unwind after going out an about July 4th weekend. Our room was very spacious with a lot of accommodations the rooms were a bonus coming into see glass countertops area with extra storage space+microwaves, your name welcoming you in the TV. On your other side would be a couch as well as a desk to do your studies, the only thing though that I had a little issue with was the air conditioning unit it seemed to be very stuffy or stall air it wasn't pulling much cooler air in, it was more like pulling the hot air from the room and blowing it all around but during the night it did get cool. The bathroom area is Another magical spacious room with just the right amount of lighting. We had a few issue with the key card. We had to go to the front desk each day to renew the room key which was something common but not that annoying. Their beds is something I wish I own! Every morning they do have free breakfast but let me tell you when you go to sleep on those beds it's so hard to wake up early and make breakfast on time you do make it down there on time you want to just grab your food and crawl back into bed đ. I feel some of the staff don't get enough appreciation of what they do. One of the ladies who does the serving in breakfast she was very helpful, kind and attentive to every single one of her guess for breakfast. Not alot of people who stayed and got breakfast tip her for her service, as well as the house keepers they were busy each day cleaning up a room to turn up for the following night we left some ice cool pop and a tip for our housekeeper each day til we checked out. Overall I would definitely come back and stay again and probably be able to make early reservations again for next year âşď¸ Thank you SpringHill by Marriott for making our stay worth...
