I recently read some reviews for this place and decided to have breakfast here. The prices are reasonable for what you're paying for, but I had high expectations for the taste of the food. We ordered biscuits and gravy with sausage and egg, a 2-egg meal with hash browns and bacon, 2 pancakes, and a diet coke with hot tea. The biscuits and gravy were very bland, as if there was no flavor in them. Sometimes when I eat out, the gravy is delicious with little pieces of sausage, but there was none here. The bacon was well-cooked, but the pancakes were good and not too sweet. The presentation of food looks great, but wasn't so great. The service was poor and did not feel welcoming at all. I got my hot tea with a torn bag, no spoon, and 2 honey. I tried to wave down the waitress, but she overlooked our table. We were given food with no silverware and I had to be more direct. It is a tiny cute place, but not really worth the time if you're hungry and love the quality of food. This area is not wheelchair accessible/ friendly. There is a tight...

We wanted a breakfast stop off the beaten path. A big name was next to the highway, but we wanted a place where we could enjoy as the locals would. That is how we came to be at Sandra's Place.
Off of Route 66, you will find a festive terracotta storefront positioned on the corner anchored between two auto businesses. Walking in, you will see a handful of tables, a barstool area for those dining alone, and a dedicated table to accommodate parties of more than five.
The staff is very friendly as are the locals. The food is yummy, priced just right, and delivered quickly to your table. They expand on the traditional morning meal options with biscuits and gravy as well as burritos, and breakfast sandwiches. I really enjoyed a half-order of french toast with sausage and egg (Beware: a half order is PLENTY). Eating later, no worries! Breakfast is served all day and their lunch options will make your mouth water.
Definitely recommend if you want to avoid franchises and enjoy a good, hearty meal...
Read moreAfter driving across 5 states and eating breakfast daily, I finally found a truly wonderful New Mexico style breakfast at Sandra's. I had a breakfast burrito smothered with half red and half green chili, stuffed with ham, egg, potato, and cheese along with a side of pinto beans. It was exactly what I was looking for. I added a flour tortilla at the end to finish up the beans and leftover sauce and almost broke into tears because the homemade tortillas were like my dad used to make. I drive through Gallup 3 or 4 times a year and will be back every time I'm in town for sure. EDIT 2023: been back 2 more times and had the Huevos rancheros each time which was fantastic. It remains my number one restaurant in New Mexico. The food is wonderful and brings back so many memories. EDIT Summer 2024: got back again and had the enchiladas and eggs special. Fantastic. EDIT Winter 2024: Huevos Rancheros hit the spot on a cold New...
