My wife and I were on a road trip throughout the Southwest. And honestly whenever passing through smaller towns, our food expectations drop a bit. It's just something we expect. And when rolling into Gallup, I wasn't expecting much when we pulled up to what was clearly an old drive in diner.

When I say this is straight up the best Mediterranean/middle eastern food I have ever experienced, understand that I've spent time in the Mediterranean, Africa and the Middle East, and have had meals ranging from the home-cooked to 5-star hotels and restaurants. Their Hummus was just like what I remember being able to get when I was over there (it's probably not like what you are used to, and this is better). The lamb in my "lamb sandwich" was perfectly tender, and delicious. But somehow was still more than the sum of it's parts. I had some of my wife's babaganoush and falafel, and both were the best I've ever had. And for dessert the Baclava was on point (most places overdo the rosewater in the traditional kind, but these guys totally nailed it).

Lastly, and most importantly, my favorite part of this whole experience was getting to feel the sense of family and enjoy a meal at a restaurant that wound up feeling more like home cooked meal. The owners, a husband and wife duo, cranked out delicious meals quickly for what was a rather busy joint for such a sleepy town. Our food came out very quickly and the service was stellar. Better still, Sara, the front of house powerhouse made time for parenting and instilling a work ethic by having her daughter mop and giving instruction on the best way to do it.

Places like this are what make travelling worth it. Please take time to head out to Oasis. You won't be...

We read about Oasis Mediterranean Restaurant while planning a road trip that took us through Gallup, NM. We really like Mediterranean food and enjoy eating it frequently. Oasis Mediterranean exceeded all our expectations and is has the best Mediterranean dishes that we have had.

We decided to eat family style so that we could taste and try a number of items. The Vegetarian Plate entree was the perfect way for the two of us to try a variety of their different appetizer items. The humus was very smooth and delicious, and the salad dressing on the salad was amazing. The babaganoush, falafel and domas were all very good as well.

The lamb shishkabob was our meat choice. It was well seasoned and cooked perfectly so that it was tender. It is served with salad and rice to make it a full entree plate. The rice is seasoned with a nice subtle flavor that elevates the dish.

After we tasted how great our entrees were, we decided that we needed to also try the baklava. They have two different types, we got the all-pistachio version and it was decadent. The phyllo dough picked up all the delicious sweetness of the syrup and the pistachio filling was divine.

The new location that they just moved to is great with lots of space for tables. The service was great and they were well-staffed and had the team that they needed to deliver great service. It was fun to see the connections that the staff have with their regular customers, once you start eating at Oasis Mediterranean you are welcomed into the community. We wish the owners all the blessings possible so that we can return on a future...

This place suck … the month I walked I was greeted by this pushy waitress who didn’t even know if the food was halal or not … I asked her about the owner and she said he’s Palestinian … dude ! Why serving non halal food and portending its halal , anyway a few items were … I placed my order and after she sent the order to the kitchen I sat and I went right back to her and told her could you please substitute the rice with fries … and she was like no I already sent it … I’m like seriously , and she kept arguing … I went ahead and try and talked to the other nicer Spanish waitress who said ok and than the other girl came in and was like it’s already too late … seriously ? Like rice is already cooked … all you have to do is tell the guys in the kitchen … after getting my food , fries didn’t have any salt and shawarma the same thing … salt is the main freaking seasoning in the kitchen. The sauces were terrible and anyway I wouldn’t even want to eat here again … that waitress should have being fired and the owner of this place should be ashamed of himself …

So I just got a reply from the so called owner … who doesn’t have any experience in costumer service blaming to be the one at fault , I feel Sorry your great waitress’s father passed away but that doesn’t give her the green light to not even consider accommodating to their costumers . Instead of apologising he’s making it worst … fine .. I’ll keep my review so the people will see it and won’t even bother to buy your frozen fries and...

Probably the nicest Mediterranean food in town! The girl who took our late night dinner order was friendly and understanding. I ordered a beef shish kebab entree ($13.99) and substituted their famed hummus for the typical salad that comes with this entree (in retrospect, I should have substituted out the rice instead). It also came with 2 nice warm disks of pita bread (not pictured in the attached) which I enjoyed immensely, a segment of roasted onion, and half of a roasted Roma tomato. The meat, vegetables, hummus, and pita were all excellent- warm, hearty, and flavorful. I think the addition of a fresh and bright salad would have been very welcome. Unfortunately, the rice was quite bland and really could have used a lot more seasoning. My husband's lamb shawarma sandwich (a wrap I could not get a photo of before consumption) was an even better deal at $8.99 for a delicious pita-encased package of meat and salad. All told, this was a great option for tasty, non-Mex food in the area! If I'm ever in the area again, I'd love to come back and try their baba ganoush/ghanoush/ghanouj, lentil soup, and other goodies on the menu.
