Location was ideal for needing to be near Indiana Wesleyan University. Room was iffy…our bathroom door wouldn’t shut all the way, the A/C unit was quite loud, shower head could use a soak in some CLR. Breakfast was ok…the “juice” options were fruit punch and lemonade very interesting choices for breakfast. The fitness center was no frills…elliptical, walking pad, mat (no way to disinfect it), and a weighted total body machine. So if you programmed workout calls for dumbbells you’ll want to improvise or change up your programming. No water was available in the fitness room either. Staff…vaping behind the front desk and then all 3 front staff (2 from the desk and 1 from the breakfast area) all went outside to smoke and vape. Not a great look of professional.

We booked this hotel for the pool and it is so incredibly cold it is unswimable. I am someone who normally is willing to swim in pretty cold water but this is like an Arctic polar plunge. Beyond that the room smelled horribly of floral cleaning supplies the whole time. The tub has what looks like tape adhesive left over and the toilet looks like it has a permanent dirty spot. In addition to only having 1/2 a roll of toilet paper they are set on rollers that only allow you to pull like one square at a time like a rest stop bathroom or a portapot.

Friendly Staff!!! Not the Best Western I've stayed at & it is an older facility. Only 2 pillows on a King Size Bed but no problem when I ask for 2 more. The room needed a little TLC toward cleaning...Dust on Lamp shades, headboard & Dressing Mirror appeared to never have been cleaned. NO Breakfast or open Pool due to Covid. Next door is A Cracker Barrel, across the street a British Restaurant & Mexican Restaurant..all in walking distance. We were in a Semi Tractor Trailer & had no problem with Parking.

We stayed at Best Western plus in gas city, on 05/02 - 05/04, 20. We had a good time except for the fact that due to covid-19 the swimming pool area was shut down, there was no breakfast either morning like it advertised, and we weren't told until we were hungry and were ready to eat and found nothing. The room we received was down a dark hallway, to which they said, was because they weren't using the hotel that much and that's why the lights were off, but they didn't even bothered to turn them on until the next evening. So every time we wanted to smoke, we took turns using our phone lights to watch each other go to the elevator, took the dog, (the pet fee was waived, which for that we were grateful for his protection) and we phoned each other to be safe and secure, which is evidenced by the multiple times we can be seen on video coming and going to elevator from room 243 in the pitch dark. We also called downstairs 2 or 3 times to ask for help. When we first arrived our television was messed up and wouldn't work, but because we were tired, and were going to sleep anyway, we waited to call until we woke up. So the night manager came up to help us program the TV cause it was on antenna analog TV. We called again because our jacuzzi was not working right, it would cycle off for about 20 minutes or so, which is normal, but after waiting an hour or more and it not coning back on, the night manager checked it, said the buttons really hard to push, that's what's wrong with it, just push it hard and it'll come on. It was temperamental and malfunctioning the whole time. We brought up the hot tub issue once again later when calling for towels and received the same answer. So we decided to wait until check out time, to mention again. It was by complete surprise that In addition to the issues mentioned above that we find upon leaving, I go to the store to have my card declined because of insufficient funds, upon investigation, I find out that I have been charged an additional $150 fee from the hotel for smoking in a non-smoking room. I called the hotel to dispute it and was pretty much called a liar because they said there was evidence of smoking in the riom due to ashes and candles they found behind bed table and in a drawer", in which I responded with, "well perhaps you must not have cleaned it very well, since it was last rented, because I didn't smoke in the room." Its clearly evident and obvious by the multiple times we can be viewed on camera leaving the room both days to go smoke, and we did so despite our feelings or fears about it. Its incredibly scary to think of how dangerous it was for a multitude of reasons, not to mention the fact that we were female, from out of town, in a pitch black, in the middle night, and early a.m. hours at unknown locatiin. But yet we STILL went out to smoke. Otherwise we would of never left the room, AT ALL, and avoided the fear, worry, and the anxiety of getting Injured Or hurt worse yet chancing walking the pitch black hallway @ three in the morning and multiple other times. Even all the shift managers can attest to and verify they seen, spoke, and acknowledged us going out during their own smoke breaks. I believe this was done out of retaliation for the complants. This is...

Very disappointed! I have stayed here before a few years ago and all was well. This time was not that way. Chose this hotel for the pool and exercise facility and paid extra compared to other hotels to have those items. First thing I see on arrival is a POOL CLOSED for Maintenance sign. When I checked online reviews I found out the pool was closed last month as well. The clerk tried to say it was a momentary closure for maintenance. When I told her it was closed since March at least she said she would talk to the manager. Went to use the bicycle in the exercise center and it was broken too. Of course that had only happened the day before according to the clerk. When I made my reservations, I got two rooms. I reserved with my card and wanted to separate payments to 2 separate cards. The clerk could not do that. We left the hotel for the afternoon and when we came back all our room keys were no longer working, so we had to go back to the desk to re-activate. They did that, but she never even asked my name, she just activated the cards for the room numbers I gave her. Anyone could have given any room number and gained access to that room! At breakfast we were told there were no waffles because someone turned off the waffle iron. My mother looked for tea and was told "Oh we ran out of that last week" The food was tasteless. We ate at Cracker Barrel the next morning. The vending machine didn't work. There were no facial tissues in the rooms. I never give bad ratings but this was beyond the limitations of my patience. I will never came back that is for sure. I will go to Super 8 before I come to this place again. It's cheaper and you get the same things. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is the...

My family and I had to travel to IN for my graduation from Graduate school and I booked this hotel only because it had an indoor pool for my sons to swim in during our stay. When I walked into the hotel to check in, I saw a sign that said: "Pool closed". The front desk employee confirmed that indeed the pool was closed and I told her that was the ONLY reason I booked this hotel. She went and got the manager (and no, I wasn't being a Karen, she went and got him on her own). The manager apologized and told me he could give me a 30% refund since it was closed. I agreed to that and went ahead and checked in. When we got to our room and unpacked I noticed a used floss pick on the floor between the beds and my son noticed a used tissue on the other side of his bed! We had clean towels and sheets on the bed, but this made me question how well the room was cleaned. I took pictures of this to show when we checked out. That evening my son (who is only 13) used the toilet which became clogged all night. My husband had to go to the front desk to get a plunger to clear it so we could use it. A friend who was in another room down the hallway said that the same thing happened to her toilet as well. |I have called and emailed the manager of this hotel since our stay in December and still no refund has been received. I would highly not recommend staying...
