We booked two rooms and spent 5 nights at the TownePlace Suites over Christmas and we couldn't have been happier. Our rooms were extremely clean and comfortable. The kitchenette was put to good use as we cooked all our dinners here (having brought a slow/pressure cooker helped.) The rooms have two burners. If you want an oven, book the two bedroom suite. Breakfast was served by Kelly every morning which consisted of hot eggs, sausage patties, waffles, cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt and Activia, bagels, breads, muffins, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs and cheese with coffee, tea, skim milk, 2% milk, orange juice, apple juice and hot cocoa every morning. The selection does not differ day to day which is my only criticism (bacon instead of sausage would have been nice.)
I traveled 50 weeks a year for five years and have stayed at hundreds of hotels. What puts the Towneplace Suites way ahead of the rest is the staff. Tammy, Jake, Katie, Chrissy and Kelly were/are AMAZING and truly this property's greatest asset. I have never encountered a hotel where the staff was so giving, so genuinely kind and attentive to every need we had.
The rooms are not huge. Ours consisted of two very comfortable queen sized beds, a table for four to eat our meals, TV, two sofa chairs and a night stand. The property has a pool, workout/weight room, business center and a coin operated laundry room. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots/pans, storage containers, toaster, microwave, 3/4 sized refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker and flatware including spatulas, large cooking spoons and the like.
If you want a comfortable, great place to stay, with an INCREDIBLE staff, you can't go wrong with TownPlace Suites in Laconia/Gilford.
1 and two bedroom suites available. More of a view from back of hotel. VERY quiet.
The hotel recycles and also has a green towel program where they will exchange your towels daily if you want, OR you can hang the towels up to use another day.

Read moreWe stayed here for one night over Labor Day weekend. The good - friendly staff and about ten mins from the Bank of NH Pavilion where we attended a concert. ||We arrived about an hour after the check-in time. We were offered a room on the third floor but were told it was very hot up there, or a room on the first floor, literally right around the corner from the check-in desk and lobby. I don’t sleep well in heat and figured noise shouldn’t be an issue with the room on the first floor given we’d be getting in late from a concert. They handed us our room keys and here’s where things went down hill. Upon entering the room, a disgusting smell hit us right in the face - a combination of wet dogs and cleaner, which they were clearly using to try to cover up the smell of a dog. There was no way we could stay in this room - I get migraines and am very sensitive to smells, and clearly this room needed a good deep clean.||We went back to the lobby and explained to the woman at the front desk that it smelled like a wet dog in the room we were given, and politely asked if we could get a different room. She thankfully was able to find us another room on the first floor and then told us she’d “go spray the room” that we asked to move out of. I asked if this was a designated pet-friendly room and to my surprise, she told me they allow pets in every single room. So a warning to anyone sensitive to smells, or allergic to dogs/cats you may want to consider a different hotel. Spraying a room to COVER UP a scent vs. deep clean to eliminate a dog smell was a complete turn-off and makes me question their cleaning and sanitation practices. Yuck. I realize this isn’t the Ritz, but cleanliness is extremely important to me even at a two or three star hotel.||We’ll for sure look at different hotels next time we are back...
Read moreWe stayed in one of the 2 bedroom family units, which was large enough to accommodate our family of 4 and contained a small kitchenette with stove, oven, full-size fridge, etc.
PROS: Great proximity to Gunstock, local restaurants, several downtown areas and even a public sledding hill for the kids! The indoor pool was also a nice amenity as was the complimentary continental breakfast each morning (to-go for COVID). The hotel staff were extremely nice, friendly and as accommodating as possible.
CONS: The hotel website states a queen bed + pull-out sofa in one of the bedrooms; however, this was not the case as the pull-out sofa is in the living room area. Both bedrooms are tight such that a rollaway cot or air mattress is not an option.
Also, we did not appreciate that the hotel is pet-friendly. While we do not have or mind pets, if we did have pet allergies we would have been affected given the condition of the room. While the cleaning staff did their best to clean our room both before and during our stay, the condition and overall cleanliness of the furniture, carpeting, etc reflected the pet-friendly nature of the hotel. Ideally, certain rooms could be reserved for non-pet travelers only to avoid cleanliness and potential allergy issues. Our shower / tub drain was also clogged, which we let the staff know about upon checkout since we did not want to deal with the maintenance during our stay.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the hotel and would probably return but if you are looking for cleanliness / quality standards more typical of higher end Marriott or Starwood properties, this property may...
