DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL if you are going to have surgery, had surgery or are needing any sort of procedure where mobility is an issue. We booked this hotel as I was going to be having surgery on my lower back at the surgery center around the corner. One leg did not work and movement of any was unbearable pain to the point my body would occasionally shut down and I would pass out. We requested a handicap ADA room and one as close to the door as possible from outside. We were told this was not an issue and would be exactly that. We drove for 2 hours got to this hotel and they LITERALLY had our room as far from any exterior door as you could get. That was a really fun endeavor going that far in that much pain. We get into the room and it does NOT meet federal ADA requirements. At all. You can tell they tried very minimally to make people think it’s ADA, but it is not. (Bars in the bathroom, shower and a seat in the bathtub to sit on) The door into the bathroom swings correctly and is proper sized, but that’s where it ends. If you are in a wheelchair, you WILL NOT be able to use the toilet in this room. It is not at ADA height and ADA code for clearances around the toilet so you are able to get from your wheelchair to the toilet are not even close to code/law. The bathtub is another issue. This is unbelievable actually..the bathtub in this room is HIGHER than any bathtub I’ve ever seen in a residential home, let alone a hotel. I was supposed to take a shower before surgery. Getting into the shower was an extremely painful endeavor and getting out almost didn’t happen. This room was not what we asked for, told we were getting and is 110% not code compliant. We did not request another room because it was so late and we needed to get me laid down before the surgery. Clearances out the side door do not meet ADA code either. It is a very very tight fit getting a wheelchair out and you must do some fancy back and forth to make it work. This hotel needs to have an ADA compliance officer to come in and make some changes. I won’t even get into the staff not getting keys to work and other things around here…We have reached out to this establishment for a refund for the night stay (first time EVER asking a hotel to do this!) but have not heard back. If not we will pursue other actions against them. Whatever you do, DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL IF YOU ARE IN PAIN AND NEEDING ADA ACCOMMODATIONS. Worst experience we...
Read moreThis the third time we have stayed in a Comfort Inn & Suites but the first time we have stayed in the Comfort Inn & Suites in Gillette, Wyoming. For the third time, we have found Comfort Inn & Suites a great place to stay! The front desk clerk was very pleasant and welcoming. He thoroughly explained all the details of our stay and also informed us that our rooms were on the third floor due to room renovations taking place elsewhere in the hotel. That certainly was not a problem as we could use the elevator. We had reserved two rooms for 5 adults and found both rooms to be very clean and spacious. The queen beds were very comfy. The pool and hot tub were both very clean and welcome after a long day. The hot breakfast was excellent with a lot of variety. Any staff member we came in contact with was very pleasant. I realized when I returned home that night that I had left a special pillow in the room we had stayed in. I called the hotel, and the gal I talked to at the front desk followed through by checking the lost and found as well as checking with her morning cleaning help. She called me back and left a message saying that the pillow had been found and that my daughter, who lives in the area, could come and pick it up. That is great customer service! The next time we are in the area visiting family, we will definitely be...
Read moreBetter maintenance of the room mechanics would earn higher ratings.
The shower curtain rod was pulling out of the wall. A light bulb was burned out on the vanity. General condition of carpeting, paint, drywall, et cetera, were of a very "experienced" hotel. Passing by other rooms to listen to dogs barking in the early morning hours is not inviting. It was quite obvious that the noise from neighboring rooms COULD have been intrusive, but we were fortunate to have had "quiet" neighbors during our stay. With all that said, the room did appear and did smell "clean", better than I'd feared of a "pet friendly" hotel. The better-than-average hotel breakfast was appreciated as well as the earlier-than-scheduled breakfast on the morning of the eclipse, I assumed due to the accommodations of a bus tour group.
Raising the bar on the mechanical maintenance of your rooms would be appreciated by some (us), though possibly go un-noticed by the masses. After review of other hotels in the Gillette Wyoming USA area, I can appreciate that the conditions at Comfort Inn were probably far superior than 90% of our other choices at comparable prices, especially when booked so close to a major event such as the 2017...
