Motel 101 — Hotel in Gold Beach

Our visit received a 2/5 not because the staff weren't wonderfully hospitable or kind and not because the room wasn't very clean. We gave the stay this because the other tenants were so horrid, we didn't get to sleep until 4 in the morning (and were promptly awoken at 6am to the neighboring childern screaming.) The room was very clean and modest but the heater did not work and the wifi was cruddy. The walls were also incredibly thin so when our neighbor decided to scream at their 2 year old, we could hear every detail. Then, when a group comprised of two younger couples decided to get wasted and proceed to fight for the following 5 hours, I was able to record them with my phone from the bed and pick up every. Single. Word. We eventually had to tell the neighboring family to quiet down as well as the couples group, without avail. We also couldnt find the room telephone to call the front desk to get someone to come down and break up the noise (though we later found it behind the T.V.)

All in all, it had a good location and the staff rocked. But be weary of tactless people using it to party and acting like...

This motel was great for the stay and location was really very convienent. However. Ariving in the evening after traveling many house and seeing the front office closed was a big shock. There was a phone number to call but they never picked up. So we had to ask some random person if they worked there and conviently they did. So they went to go fetch the owner or clerk?? They called me back after I went to another motel to ask if they had a room availble and they said my room# was unlocked and we could just go in. They also said they will arrive in 45 minute to deal with the paper work, and while we waited another person in the same situation as us ended up on the grounds. So I had to explain what happened and tell them to wait outside in the cold. Lastly my wife went to deal with the paper work and I walked in, the clerk said, oh we have another one here. Which kinda took me back.

We were a little concerned to find a note on the door when we arrived. The owner was running errands and the sign indicated we should call a certain number which we could not get to ring through. The owner arrived about 15 minutes later. He was very friendly, apologized for the inconvenience and explained what had happened. It was an older motel, but had been updated and was clean. The only minor negatives were 1) the toilet paper being located up above our left shoulders which wasn't easy to access 2) the spring on my side of the bed would make a "boing" noise when I got up or sat down 3) birds outside the door that were really noisy at 4 am, but finally quit chirping at 4:30. We appreciated that they were able to accommodate our request for a downstairs room and also the discounted rate when we called the owner directly compared to what we were finding on the internet.
