Although the Worldmark Granby is a relatively new building within the Wyndham footprint, what we found when we checked into our unit reflected weeks - if not months - of neglect by housekeeping and maintenance. For example, there were food crumbs on the floor, layers of dirt and filth on the floor tile and in the grout, urine on the floors and toilets, hairs in the tubs and toilets, stains on the shower curtains and stains that looked like blood on the linen, piles of dust on the headboards, food in the refrigerator and kitchen drawers, a cracked microwave handle, snagged/raveled carpet, etc. Below are pictures that show some of the filth we found in our unit after driving over 16 hours to get here. We immediately called management to complain who told us they would send someone in the morning to clean the unit. The manager of housekeeping (Sonia) said she and someone else from housekeeping would come clean the unit but added that we had to leave first - lyingly stating that Wyndham's policy doesn't allow them to enter the unit while tenants are there. We did not trust leaving our belongings and groceries in the unit while housekeeping went in to "clean" nor were we going to ask our elderly parents to step out onto the balcony in their pajamas in the cold weather to accommodate housekeeping. Sonia said that no matter what any other manager told her to do she was not going to clean our unit unless we left. None of us could shower because the bathrooms were filthy. When we spoke with the front desk day manager Nicole, she said the actual policy was that there had to be at least two people from housekeeping in the unit if tenants were there. This should not have been a problem since Sonia said two people would be coming to our unit. We were directed to call owner services who refused to help (Linda and Jessica). The only option we had in getting the unit cleaned while being able to supervise our belongings - and ensure the unit was actually cleaned - was to clean the unit ourselves. Sonia and Nicole brought us some towels to clean our own unit and tried to make it seem like it was our choice. (We had to go out and purchase our own cleaning supplies.) Adding insult to injury they tried to appease us with a box of cookies and a couple of movie tickets, which we returned to front desk staff. When we cleaned the floors the towels were black with dirt and there was also hair on the new towels and shower curtains. We had to wash these items ourselves. After we complained, the tenants in the unit above us began stomping heavily across the floor, running, jumping and slamming doors. Prior to making our reservation months ago we requested a top floor unit to avoid noise issues over our head but were told that only Wyndham owners were able to stay in the top floor units. We called the front desk and asked them to speak to the tenants which they claimed they would do. However, when we called back to complain a second time a guy answered the phone claiming not to know about the noise issue and that he would do something about it. The noise continues. From the treatment we've received thus far at Worldmark Granby, it appears that Wyndham does not have any high standards when it comes to quality and cleanliness at their properties -...
Read moreBased upon the pictures posted on the resort website, we thought we would have a more spacious unit equipped with a hot tub. Wrong. We learned that only a few of the units like the presidential units were so equipped as depicted in the photographs. The only hot tub available to us was located some distance away from our unit next to the closed pool resulting in our decision not to use it due to the coolness of the nights and not wanting to walk back to our unit in wet attire. While we were there, we did not see anyone using the hot tub or the fire pit and really wonder what the amenities fee is for other than for pure profit for the resort. On top of that, be prepared to pay for internet service in addition to the amenities fee.||When we made our reservations, we asked for a third floor unit because the view from the balconies is wonderful. When we checked in, we were told the third floor units were reserved for owners. Due to the obvious number of empty units on the third floor, it makes one wonder if they really appreciate non-owners since they could have easily accommodated our request. ||The unit was well stocked and the accommodations sufficient for our needs. While I appreciate the fact that each unit has a gas grill on the balcony, the only supermarket in town (City Market) is woefully understaffed due to the high cost of living and the meat department lacking any meat worthy of cooking on the grills. Most of the shelves in the store were empty with pallets of stock in the aisles waiting to be unloaded. Very sad.||Granby is a quaint little town located near the Grand Lake side of the RMNP but be prepared for little to no offerings as far as dining, shopping, or recreational activities. We were there to take full advantage of all the RMNP offered so the location served its purpose. Not sure if we would return the next time we are in...
Read moreWe recently stayed at WorldMark Granby twice on our ski trip—once at the start and again at the end of our vacation. While it was more than an hour’s drive from the slopes at Breckenridge and Vail, it was the most affordable WorldMark option in the area. Winter Park and Granby were much closer, so if you’re skiing there, the property’s location is far more convenient.
Overall, the facilities and rooms were quite nice and spacious. There were activities like ping pong and other games, and the fitness center was pretty decent with dumbbells up to 50 lbs and a nice dual-cable machine as the highlights. During our first night’s stay, my wife noticed a strong cleaning-chemical smell, which was off-putting upon arrival. She opened the door to the outside in the freezing cold to air it out. On our second stay, we were assigned a room on the third floor with an open-air walkway. The only downside to this setup is that when guests walk by—especially in ski boots—it sounds like a herd of Clydesdales in the bedroom, even with the windows and blinds are closed.
The room itself was clean and roomy, with a handy in-room washer/dryer. However, the stackable washer made surprisingly obnoxious noises during its operation, so don’t be alarmed if it starts clunking mid-cycle. One small disappointment was the coffee setup: there’s only a single packet of Folgers provided for one pot, and that’s all. If you’re a coffee lover, you may want to bring your own supply. Despite these minor issues, WorldMark Granby remains a solid choice if you’re looking for an affordable home base with spacious accommodations—just keep in mind that it involves some extra drive time if your primary destination is...
