I'm not one to write bad reviews but I feel absolutely compelled to for this situation.
We booked a trip to come down to this hotel through Priceline, and unfortunately it was non-refundable (oops). This was my first time booking a trip, usually my wife handles that but I wanted to surprise the family.
As it would turn out, there's a major, record setting heat advisory for the days that we booked. We have two kids, one with autism, and they absolutely cannot handle going out in 100 degree weather. Our son is prone to meltdowns in the heat, it just wouldn't end well. So, we kindly requested a refund through Priceline because of the circumstances. Priceline said that it ultimately came down to the discretion of the motel, but they agreed that the circumstances were unusual and thought that asking for a refund was reasonable.
Now, in an automatic reading email they said no, and if that was where it ended I wouldn't even write this review. In a quick email they shot me down, so I decided to call them up and see if I could reason with the manager. She was unavailable that day, so I wrote her an email.
The next day passed with no response, so I called them back again requesting the manager. She was busy, so I left a voicemail explaining the situation and requesting a call back.
The next day passed with no response, so I called them back, once more requesting the manager. This was basically my last try here, if no response I'll just chalk it up to either a rude or inordinately busy manager.
Unfortunately, I got a hold of her and she was MAD. Mid sentence she interrupted me, asking me to stop harassing her and her staff and stop calling, telling me that she'd sufficiently told me that I wouldn't get receiving a refund and her manager (Mary?) had already told me. Apparently Mary wrote the initial response, which I presume was copied/pasted from their policy. I apologized that I'd come off as harassing, and explained that the Priceline agent told me to ask the manager, who I couldn't reach until the 3rd phone call, and again she interrupted me saying that there was nothing that she could do and repeating that I'd already been told that.
As a life long introvert, I've had nightmares just like this phone call, so all I could think to do was to accept the outcome and apologize, but of course mid-way through my apology (for her inconvenience I guess, I don't know?) she hung up on me. Cool, thanks Jen, you seem like a nice gal.
So, that's that. I can't speak to the quality of the motel, I'm sure it's ok, but unfortunately outcome notwithstanding I'd be terrified to step foot in there. If they didn't refund us, we might still bop down there and just try and stay inside to avoid the heat to still get our family vacation in, but after that phone call I'd rather stay a weekend in a local jail than this...

So would probably be required to tell the truths due to my religious beliefs, imagination and autism/PTSD/bipolar/schizophrenia that ~1/3 of the staff in interacted was even compassionate and sensitive to my disability. The rest should probably undergo retaining and educated in some manner about mental fitness. I’m sorry I ever heard of any Z place and would like to give them a -1-star rating receive a refund for the distress their lobby and staff caused me A.H. like Helen Keller’s tutor to me and Chelsea could very likely not have been any worse there was she talked to me in other people’s hearing.
To sum up: 14 stars in the first first 9s, -1/5 for the rest of the time until I was told REPEATEDLY to leave until a sweet puppy came in and approached me until I was on all fours and almost licked my face. I wish I could get a refund x2 so I could got get an actual nice hotel where the staff is kind and loving. I know of s place on the corner of stark and another street and Burgerville.
PS: when will the money be back in my account? I’m so sorry I ever even thought about staying here to save a lousy Buck when I spent 200% of that just eating two string cheeses they refused to give a 50% on/off and I still can’t find my Trimet honored citizen pass from when I used to live here in Portland.
PPS: can anyone help me urgently to find a different place than “My Place” to stay at for one more (Saturday) night? Otherwise I’m homeless in Portland for another day and a night to NOT see my two daughters I flew from Boise to NOT SEE all for making a unfortunate choice in hotels…please help me if you know...
Read moreMy wife & I travel the country for work. We really like the My Place Hotels chain. However, this location has some shady business practices. If it's not bad enough, it's surrounded by homeless, my coworker's vehicle was stolen from your parking lot back in March, and room service came one time in the combined 6 wks that I've stayed here. Offering us an adjusted rate, I booked another stay from 9/2 to 9/17. I paid by the week and paid $544.80 + $90.80 on 9/4, then $544.80 + $181.60 on 9/11. Upon arriving to the hotel after work, I was told I needed to pay another $181.60 if I wanted to stay another night. I kindly showed them my CC statement to prove I had already paid in full, as well as offered my paper invoice that I was provided. I was told by manager Chelsea Bolvin, that if I didn't gather my belongings, I would be removed by police! How embarrassing and humiliating!! I work for a living and pay my bills. I had already paid the amount requested!! As I'm packing up, the room phone rings. It's "Katie" from Legacy Properties, the property owner. I make my case again, but she rudely cut me off, saying I was never charged $181.60. My Place Portland East, you and your manager Chelsea act like extortionists!! Katie, im sure you can only see what the hotel provided you, but I already paid $181.60 on 9/11 (see attached screenshot). Chelsea, I hope you have the day you deserve, and you'll think twice before trying to double charge anyone else. When you threatened to call the police as I'm actively packing my clothes, I told you to call them, but you did nothing! Because I had my folio and my bank statement ready to show them. I don't know what you did or didn't do with my money, but it def came out of my account...
