It's okay, I guess. I wouldn't recommend staying here for more than a couple nights.
To start off with, the campground is located between CA SR-1 highway and railroad tracks, so there is a lot of highway noise. And when a train passes by (approx. every hour, except in the middle of the night, thank goodness), the noise is almost deafening, and the ground shakes. Well at least they aren't blowing their horns here.
Most campsites are either sand or dirt, with a paved access road. When it rains, the sand and dirt turn into an unpleasant mix of mud and puddles. (Yeah, there's no drainage here, so bring your boots.) Most of the sites are quite small, so it's definitely not a place for RVs much larger than 35 feet. And most sites aren't wide enough to deploy both a 3ft slideout on one side and an awning on the other side. While I was here, I had a terrible ant infestation in my RV, so I would highly recommend spraying your wheels, landing jacks, and hookups with a bug barrier, and place plenty of ant bait around as well.
While I was here, I had a wheel on my bike stolen, so don't leave your stuff unlocked & unattended. In the evening & late night, there are occasionally shady groups of people (who don't even belong in the campground) traversing here. I saw a group jump the fence from the highway into the campground, walk across somebody's campsite, and then jump the other fence to cross the railroad tracks. Another night I saw another group walk back & forth along the access road past my campsite about 3 or 4 times (probably scouting out something easy to steal from someone's campsite). And they were usually wearing hooded sweaters to cover their identity. There were also some nights when I saw a police car driving through the campground.
All that being said, it's not absolutely terrible. The neighboring campers are quite friendly, there's a pool and a laundromat, and you get full hookups. (No WiFi though.) Like I said, it's alright if you are staying here only a...

Read moreFirst timers here at this Campground. I read the reviews(complaints) and they are little over exaggerated about the train (you hear the noise for like 5 secs while it passes. It's a county ran park so their are rangers who are diligently driving through the park and enforcing Campground rules(but not over bearing ). I read that some folks had their stuff stolen, so we made sure to lock up our bikes at night and anything valuable was with us inside our rig. Location is good, next to a restaurant and walking distance to beach. Being that it's a county park, not much money is invested in these properties (too bad, LOTS of potential) our site didn't have a fire pit or picnic table. Tables were scattered in other sites, not all sites had them. I will say, I've stayed in other campgrounds where there are permanent residents and the others do a better job enforcing residents to have a clean and tidy campsite. I imagine it's hard living out of a trailer , but just simply pulling your weeds and making sure your rig is clean would be my only recommendation. It just helps make the park have a better...
