Worst-case possible. Bad service, cold food and weak margaritas. We moved to Gulf Shores two months ago and have been looking for our new favorite restaurant. Mexican is our favorite. We love smaller places for the typically better experience. We were sat at a table with chair that barely could be called safe. Server had only 1 other table. Stephen was his name. We ask margaritas on the rocks and got them quickly but they tasted like Gatorade so we asked for a shot of Don Jolio (tequila on their menu), they had none. Server said he'd get us similar....15 minutes later he brings a gold shot of something...not good. I asked if they had any hotter salsa and to order. We order the Mesquite Grill (30 dollar two person meal). He then went to the back and played on his phone. We watched as he literally walked past us several times and made no eye contact, no 'are you okay ', nada... so we drink our Gatorade and wait. 50 minutes later, the other table he is serving gets their food...we are still waiting.. so I ask again after waving him down...can we get some hot salsa? He says yes and once again is nowhere to be found...15 minutes go by and our food is brought by someone else. Our server follows a minute later with 'hot' salsa..It looks good on its fajita plater. ...but Hubby take first bite and looks at me...its cold. Like been sitting for a while, can put my finger in the middle and touch thr fajita plate and it barely warm. We waited for over an hour for this....we wave down someone else as our server is mia again and tell them.... they say, okay and just look at us. Wth... we are done, no need to warm it up ir remake. No sorry or attemp to make it right. Server brings our bill and waits steps away for our card, seriously. We will not be back ever. As we stood up to leave, bonus, there's black mold growing on the ceiling. ...
Read moreI paid for a meal that this restaurant refused to give me.
Honestly, I've been going to this place for a couple years and while their hardshell tacos are pretty good, the restaurant itself is pretty gross. There's inches on dust on the ceiling and overall it looks kinda nasty inside... which of course leads me to wonder if it looks this gross in the customer part of the restaurant what doer the kitchen look like?
The real straw that broke the camels back was when I ordered Uber eats today. The driver got there and then called me to say that I needed to pay for my order so I had him put the person from El Toro on the phone who started arguing with me about the fact that they don't use Uber Eats to which of course I replied obviously they do use Uber eats because I paid for a meal that the driver was dispatched to go pick up...
We went around for about five minutes until I ultimately realized that these people were going to take my money and not deliver any food.
It's worth noting I've attached a screenshot of my Uber Eats order to which all I have to say to El Toro is a middle finger.
Great way to burn a local loyal customer , but all in all it won't be much of a loss. There's much cleaner Mexican restaurants in the area. This one just happened to be...
Read moreI'm not sure what others were thinking when they gave this restaurant a good review but... our waitress was the hostess... she was slow, didn't know the menu and never came back to check on us. Our drinks sat unfilled for over 15 minutes. The queso was runny. The chicken in the enchiladas was CANNED. The chicken in the chicken quesadillas was CANNED. I don't mean came out of a can and then seasoned and somehow cooked... I mean straight out of the can and into the dish... my daughter in law was served a cold beef chimichanga. My son had a 14 dollar steak that was so small I thought it was an appetizer. I had beef tacos... and I asked for fajita beef instead of the ground beef. The waitress/hostess stared at me and said they didn't have that... so she put steak down... which apparently means unseasoned beef bits. One of our group didn't quite know what he wanted so the waitress appeared annoyed and then instead of actual voice communication she had the nerve to raise her eyebrow at him... HORRIBLE SERVICE AND...
