This one is hard to review because of the great aspects and downers. First the downers. The food situation is unacceptable with no breakfast (a bakery box with high sugar pastries is not an option) and only a taco tequila bar for lunch and dinner. The shuttle option for another Pelham property did not work for us and the restaurants there could not handle our family party of 9 at any time during our stay. When my wife went over there to try she was blown off and I had a very bad phone experience with the rooftop restaurant person who answered. I nearly pulled my family out of Pelham because of it and Pelham lost a LOT of food business with us. I will never knowingly stay where I need an Uber or car to go eat so will never stay here again. The place is too expensive for what you get. The cable TV options are bad.||The great aspects include the next door beach; the nice staff; the cleanliness; the outdoor room chairs; housekeeping; the comfortable bed; the pool for our grandkids; the pretty location overall; big bathroom; and in theory the shuttle, although I missed it once because of poor parking lot visibility from the lobby. ||I realize we were there at high season so expected the high rate, but not the lousy food options. We found several good quality less expensive hotel options with food on premises nearby during our stay. There is no reason Pelham on Earle cannot provide a decent breakfast because the restaurant staff are good (I speak fluent Spanish, got to know some of them well and used to be in the business) and the kitchen is suitable for it. For my wife and me food quality and availability matter more than everything else when we travel, and I let my daughter book here despite my misgivings. She agrees we will never be back. The tacos were fine, but as a Texas native who grew up on great Mexican food they are three times as expensive for half the quantity and quality I can find anywhere else. Overall this nearly...
Read morePelham on Earle is a lovely motel surrounded by beautiful, lush hydrangeas and a very short walk to the beach on ocean side. Three years ago it was the perfect spot to vacation at the Cape. All rooms are located on ground level around the pool area with what used to be round tables outside of pool area with umbrellas. In front of motel were additional tables nestled in between the gorgeous hydrangea bushes. Breakfast was included with make your own waffles, fresh fruit, juice, muffins and coffee. I believe a gas grill was also available for those wanting to cook outside. That was when it was called The Commodore on Earle. Recently this piece of heaven has been bought and managed by Pelham Motels. Gone are the tables surrounding the outside pool area that added such ambiance to this property. Hot appetizers that could be bought and brought to pool were not being offered this year. Gone is the mini bar serving paid mixed drinks from 12 noon to 8:00. This year's stay included coffee and very tiny muffins in their small dining room. Juice and fresh fruit would have been a nice treat. Four out of our five day stay their large coffee maker was not working. Small keurig coffee makers, however, were provided in each room. Some of the blinds in our rooms should have been replaced, fire pit was not working properly and the lantern beside shuffle board was out, making play more difficult at dusk. Had we not stayed on this property for 3 consecutive years some of these changes would not have been missed but it is those things that I mentioned that made this place so special to my family and me. I hope if we return next year that they will bring back some of these amenities without drastically increasing their nightly fee. Covid is responsible for some of these changes but it is time to move on and bring back those...
Read moreWe stayed 4 nights at Pelham on Earle, West Harwich in August, 2025 at a cost of over $600.00 a night. Our first night we were awakened constantly by a window air-conditioner rattling on every 20-30 mins. It took complaints to four different staff members the following day to have the problem corrected. The coffee pot only worked sporadically. I asked for a replacement but was told it worked fine. Our bedroom was small, with a very small bathroom only spacious enough to accommodate a toilet and shower in bathtub; sink was in bedroom. There was no grab bar for climbing in and out of the tub in order to have a shower, no hook to hang a face cloth or wet bathing suit, one small towel rack only and no hook on back of door to hang a garment. There was no chair in room to sit on, no bedside table/shelf to place a glass of water/phone-watch. The breakfast buffet was mediocre at best. I requested a couple of slices of whole wheat toast and was told I would be charged 1$ per slice. Was this a joke? NO -after ‘the toast’ was delivered I was told they did not have a toaster in the kitchen so the cook had to grill the bread. It was soaked in oil, grease, lard or some combination thereof? And then I was presented with the bill of $2.14 for this bread which was virtually inedible. The staff did their best to serve us -though I pitied their challenge to please the customer in this facility- a glorified roadside Motel. The location was great- near a public beach, and easy access to other attractions. In all our years of traveling throughout this country and the world at large I have never felt so abused and taken advantage of as at this Pelham on Earle in West Harwich,...
