Just wanted to write about our rental last week 7/13/24 to 7/20/24. #710 Shore Beats Workin. Although it was spacious, this home has not been maintained. You can tell this is not a loved family home but a corporate owned and rented just for the money it can bring in. Do not trust the pictures in the rental posting. They were taken many years ago. There is a wasp nest in the outdoor shower. My husband and son both got stung while we were there. This is where the only hose is connected. Would be nice to have a hose on the faucet at the driveway to hose items off when you get back to the beach. Found this faucet as we were leaving. Does owner really want all that sand in the pool area? Showers in the jack and Jill bathrooms drain very slowly. So much so that while taking a shower there is several inches of water in the shower. Third floor master bath. The jetted tub has no plug and doesn’t work. So you have to use the shower within the enclosed jetted tub. The sliding door on the left doesn’t move so you have to use the right side, stepping into the few inches between tub and toilet and over the high side of the tub to get in. This is a major fall hazard. My 72 year old husband and myself had a difficult time getting in the tub. Would hate for someone to fall trying to get into the tub/shower. Also a litigation risk for the owner. Wood slat at top of stairs is splintering. Risk of someone getting a splinter in their foot. Master bath sink on left side leaks sending a stream of water along the counter. Kitchen sink stoppers do not hold water. Plumbing needs updated. No pressure to wash dishes or shower if clothes washer is on. Water in kitchen sink literally stopped running when washer was on. Most of the screens in the screened in porch are ripped. A few kitchen cabinets don’t open properly. Washer is apartment sized, too small for such a large home. Beds are hard. Furniture is old, appear to be thrift finds. Chair in twin bedroom is broken at the back. Carpet on stairs needs replaced. Kitchen countertop is painted and not a hard surface like quartz or granite.
The good: lots of pots and pans, silverware, plates in kitchen. Good location walkable to the beach. If you have a four wheel drive vehicle, we highly recommend using the 4x4 beach access across from the Frisco rod and gun store. The luggage lift is great but very slow. Of the almost 40 years we have been coming to Frisco this was the poorest maintained home and not worth the price to rent. Would not rent again and would not...
Read moreThis house has so many perks and just as many downfalls.
First the good: Location, incredible. Easy walk to the beach (public access is a little rough, likely beat up through the last storms, but accessible and usable.) Some of the best beach we've been on in OBX and we've stayed from tip to toe. Easy to several local restaurants, Ocracoke ferry, shopping. Avon is reasonable for groceries. The view is beautiful from every point!
Very recently updated and you can tell. Whole house still smells of fresh paint.
We didn't get to use the pool much but the deck was nice, furniture was nice and plentiful, fine enough for kids.
The meh: Hot tub is old and in disrepair. It works but slowwwwwwwwwwly, takes forever to heat and the cover is about to fall apart. You need multiple people to put it on.
Dishwasher leaks like a mofo. On brand new beautiful floors. Surf and sound was notified of this on 3 occasions, never addressed.
Washer and dryer are apartment size, the washer doesn't do a 2nd spin and rinse on its own and the dryer takes 120 minutes plus for a regular load to dry.
Upstairs refrigerator does not make ice but the downstairs one will be overflowing (literally) in a day or two. We didn't know this until we opened the freezer to look for something and a wall of ice flew out at us. Ice 6" tall.
The master bath jacuzzi tub does not work, the jets have been caulked over.
You can tell this was a recent purchase as the kitchen was not well appointed and stocked by seasoned renters/owners. I'm sure over time it'll get there but bring a good knife, Tupperware and cookie sheets for sure.
The BAD: ROACHES. by the dozens. Surf and Sound was notified of this daily via chat, voice message and email. No evidence anyone ever came while we were gone throughout the days. We saw 3 just this morning as we left, alive and scurrying. I'm praying none made their way home with us....
Read moreI have just recently stayed at Shore Beats Workin with a group of friends and our kids and it was immaculate! The house was spotless and all of the amenities that were available for use were in perfect condition. The kitchen had all of the utensils necessary to cook and bake (which is extremely helpful when having to cook for many people). All of the master bedrooms had their own bathrooms which were roomy and also clean! The kids room was also perfect because it was a jack and jill with a sharing bathroom which made vacation with kids even easier! The house was just recently renovated and is very technology friendly! The house comes equipped with smart TVs which we were also able to use for music and games. Within the house there were bored games which made family bonding time even more fun! Throughout the week we were able do activities even though we went during off season. We were able to have a fire on the beach where we had smores! If you plan on doing a fire on the beach take a five minute drive down the street to Frisco Bait and Tackle where you can get a free permit!
The house is located in a perfect spot because all of the stores and restaurants are located within a 5-10 miles radius. Connors market is down the road where you can find anything necessary to make your stay comfortable and fun!
I would definitely recommend this house to families and even a group setting for a quick get away during the winter and a summer getaway to soak in the sun! The house has amazing views from both sides and i will definitely be coming back to stay at Shore Beats Workin. Shore Beats Workin has now become another home away from home that me and my family will be visiting...
