We arrived at this restaurant and received great kind service from the person who took our order. However, the food was not very good overall. Although are wings and crab sandwich were good, the other things were not so much. I personally ordered fried oysters, where the oysters were great but the bread was soggy and there were some sharp pieces of shell in them. The fries were soggy and too salty. My brother’s fish sandwich was falling apart. The worst was my sister’s oyster stew, which was curdled, bland, and watery. The main issue was when we politely brought up our thoughts on the oyster stew to our food server, who was different from the gentleman who took our order, he shrugged it off. Then he came back and defensively told us that everything was fresh and that he would show us the receipts to prove it. It’s just not the reaction that a server should give when valid complaints are calmly presented.
The good sir who took our order heard our thoughts on his colleague’s reaction and was kind to us. He promptly removed the oyster stew from our total bill. Overall, the food was not very good and the reaction from one of the servers was uncalled for, so we may not return to this place again. However, I did not wish to place a completely negative review without pointing out some positives.
My recommendation is to take your friends and family either to the Pamlico Deli or Tavern on 12 for the safest greatest bet on restaurants in...
Read moreTLDR: Not worth the money. Go somewhere else. I've eaten at enough seafood places to know this place is not worth the money. Please understand if I'm spending over $120 on food plus forced to pay another $22 in tips, the least I would expect the food to be is tasty. It was not. I read another reviewer gave a 5 star rating and showed the palmico shrimp and it looked good! I ordered the same thing and it looked nothing like the pictures. My wife got the Captain's platter and the fish was over cooked. The manager said the fish was "fresh" but we couldn't tell because it was cooked well over well done. You know the food was bad when the kids didn't want to eat the noodles or the chicken wings. This place has to be the worst money I have EVER spent on sea food. I live inland and the food and experience is far superior for the price. I get this place is by the sea so they can charge more and that's cool. But this place doesn't deserve a 4.6 star rating at the time of writing this review. It may deserve a 2.7 stars total. The service was pretty ok. The people are nice. The food wasn't worth the price. Go up the street a couple of minutes or a couple miles and pick a different place. Sorry no photos bc it's not worth any more of my time. I'm glad I never have to come back to this...
Read moreWe attempted to eat here one night during peak season (July). There were a ton of empty tables when we walked in. The owner/manager told me as soon as I walked in the door that they would not seat us because they “needed to feed the people that were already there.” I kindly asked if we could sit at the bar area (which was nearly completely empty) and just watch tv while we waited. The man told me that he would “make a deal with me”- he would seat us but that we couldn’t order until they took care of the other tables. I said that was fine- we don’t expect to get served before people who are already there. He then turned to the hostess and told her to seat us and then said to all of the staff (many of whom were just sitting/standing around) “to not give us anything.” I get it that these restaurants down here can get overwhelmed during peak season, but I have never been so disrespected as a paying customer at a restaurant before. It’s no wonder half the tables were empty. If they can’t handle and plan for managing a half-full restaurant during their prime money-making season without treating their potential customers like trash, they don’t deserve to get the business. I can’t rate the food since I didn’t get to try it, but the service alone justifies a...
