Dry Creek Inn — Hotel in Healdsburg

Do not stay here, zero stars! Please read full review for imperative health information... COVID-19 patients are being housed by county at same hotel. Guests are not informed prior to booking. I sent an email to the manager, Erik, and he did nothing. He doesn’t care about guests or their experience. Just the tax breaks the hotel is receiving from the county for housing COIVD-19 patients. One of the buildings is covered by security guards around the clock. Medical personnel in full PPE dress are going in and out of rooms. There are biohazard bins and staff in DEMA shirts. I asked one of the security guards what they were guarding. He told me “a corporate event.” Clearly a lie, because when I asked why there were biohazard bins for a corporate event he ran me off the property. I did some investigating on google and found out the hotel has donated parts of its hotel to house those with COVID-19. I asked the front desk attendant why we were not given informed consent regarding what is happening at the same hotel individuals and families are vacationing/working. She gave me Erik’s card and no other information or apology. Not at any point of the reservation process, or on their website, was I informed this risky housing was taking place at their establishment. Not informing customers of this PRIOR to, or even during, their stay is unethical. Further, it does not allow customers to make informed personal health decisions. If someone were to contract COVID after staying here, I’m sure a court of law would not favor Dry Creek Inn Best Western. Their duty to inform guests and lack of ethical consideration is more than concerning. After reading Erik’s response below and realizing it’s the same canned response that he replied to my initial email concerns, BE CAREFUL! There are plenty of reviews for this establishment that mention him by name and his lack of care and customer service. Do your research before staying here, you’ll find you don’t want to after you do. Like Erik said in his response, his lack of care for guests is public knowledge, that is if you choose to figure out what is going on. If biohazard bins are in plain sight for guests to see, how do you think Dry Creek Inn Best Western is doing at keeping their guests safe from those with COVID staying at the same hotel? For your reference, the building he is talking about is not 50 yards away from the one guests stay in and you share a parking lot with the ill individuals. The building they are housed in is split simply by one drive lane. Don’t put you or your family’s safety at risk. There are plenty more less expensive hotels in the area with more amenities. I do not recommend staying at this location. The state of the room and customer service were appalling and unacceptable. The bathroom reeked when we checked in but we did not have time to figure out what was wrong as we had a wedding event to attend. Upon returning to the room we found that the smell in the bathroom was urine and the toilet was leaking. Maintenance was nice and friendly and attempted to fix the issue but said that he would have to take the toilet apart. He was kind enough to go to the front desk to figure out the room change. Our room was upgraded since there were no other comparable rooms available. So at 11 pm we packed all our things and moved with a sleeping infant to the next building. I inquired with the front desk if we could just stay in that room the following because I really did not want to have to move rooms again. They said no since that building was all booked for the next night and we would have to move to a room comparable to the original room we had. So the next morning we missed wedding activities with friends, also from out of town since we had to wait around for a room to be available to move again. A whole morning wasted! After the second move we asked the front desk if they could compensate us for the inconvenience they caused and their response was "Well, you got a room upgrade for a night for the inconvenience." No, we were upgraded only because there were no other standard rooms available. We had to negotiate with the front desk about what could be done. I wish their customer service was better. It would have been so much better if the people at the front desk offered something up front. They could have offered 10% off due to the inconvenience, and although that does not make up for unsanitary room conditions or making us move twice, it would have been to know that they were trying to do something for us, however minimal. But no, we had to initiate conversations on compensation. They did end up giving us a discount, which is why the rating is one star instead of none, I did call their customer service line to leave a complaint and after documenting the person on the phone immediately offered monetary compensation. The amount was about 10% of the original cost of the stay, again not enough to make up for the hassle. What resolved the issue for me was that the representative on the phone commented that having to move rooms twice was a lot and immediately offered something to make up for our bad experience. We got thru the first night fine except for the toilet not flushing and running all night. Maintenance guy came and it worked fine for him (because I had just messed with it- the flapper inside the tank needs replacing). We saw a few ants in bathroom first night and then discovered more ants the next morning when we left an empty soda can on dresser. The shower supplies were almost empty. Frustrating because this was the one time I didn't bring my own. We were only given 2 towels which sucks if you have long hair and need to put it up in a 2nd towel. This would've left my husband with only a wet towel to dry with. The robe was very soft and warm. The 2nd night seemed colder and we looked for a blanket with no luck. It was late so we just toughed it out with only the sheet and thin comforter. The shower head faced the door so when you turn on the water to heat up you get soaking wet. Rm 533. It also never got truly hot like I like it. Water also leaked out the bottom onto the floor. Didn't realize it was a dog friendly hotel which is great if you have your dog there but if you are on a romantic wine country getaway...not so much. Often heard dogs barking and twice saw dog poo on the ground in hotel walkways. Why don't they keep dog families in one building and other guests in the other. Also the hot tub water smelled very old and dirty. Our clothes stank when we changed them and still did when we got them home. Has the water ever been changed? Basically we didn't want to change rooms so we just put up with it for one more night. For the price we paid for this room we could've stayed at the Hyatt with little to no issues.
