We were driving though and made a prepiad reservation on Orbitz. When we got there the hotel was closed with a sign on door saying that we should enquire at the casino across the street. The casino didn't have a reservation for us but we booked a room there. We called Orbitz to get a refund. They put us on hold and told us they talk to "Alice" at the front desk and we had to call her for a refund. Orbitz would give us a direct number for "Alice" and gave us the number from Google. That number led us to their "reservation desk" which should like a Mexican call center. The "reservation desk" said "Alice" must be working the front desk. They gave us two numbers. The first was probably the front desk, but since the hotel was closed nobody answered. The second was a the front desk at the casino, where they still didn't know anything about our reservation and had never heard of anyone named "Alice". By now it was 1am, so I went to bed.
Apparently you're supposed to google the hotel to find out if they are open before making non-refundable reservations Yes, googling the hotel showed it was closed.
As it is, I'm out about $100, and 2 and a half hours of my life spent on hold. I still don't know if "Alice" exists. I will never do business with the Grand Hinckley Inn. with this hotel or...
Read moreWe were mislead! Made the reservation with them via phone. I asked about early check in and was told we could arrive any time after 11:00 am. I explained our need for a room to get ready in for a wedding we were attending later the day of the reserved day. On the day of check in we arrived at the Grand Hinkley Inn around noon. I approached check in desk and over heard receptionist talking to someone on the phone. They were saying they had been slammed by patrons the night before and room cleaning was to make sure the rooms with website check in were cleaned first. I checked in provided license, credit card. Etc. Asked about getting a room as soon as possible. I was told it would be at least two hours. I checked with reception several times before we had to find a bathroom to get changed in for the wedding. We left at 3:15 pm. Still no room at that point. At 3:45 I received a text message telling me room ready. Here is where I am angry. House keeping has been cleaning rooms. As the rooms became available we should have been notified right away. I am house keeper. I can turn over a room with bathroom in a 30 minute time frame. How did it take hours? Why did they not do better for the customer waiting at their establishment? As for the room. It was clean. Bed was...
Read moreFor starters, the check-in process is slower than molasses & they don’t even explain to you anything that the hotel has to offer. Our room was filthy & if I could post the pictures, I most definitely would. There was a giant red/pink stain on our bed & a giant piss stain as well. It honestly looked like they hadn’t even changed the sheets. My sister & I work at a Best Western Plus so we checked the rooms like how we would at work. If this was an inspection, they would’ve failed in just the one room. They moved us to a different room & we did the same thing, checked the room how we would at work, & this room was much better. Still not perfect, but we weren’t moving a second time. We were not offered any sort of discount, but were told that the housekeepers have a mandatory housekeeping meeting on Monday. Amanda at the front desk was amazing! The gentleman that checked us in, Cody I believe his name was, he is very quiet, doesn’t make eye contact, & seemed a bit socially awkward which doesn’t work when you work in customer service. To conclude, if I was just rating Amanda, I would’ve given 5 stars, but since I am rating the overall stay, I have to give...
