Before reading, beware this is going to be a detailed review of my stay at La Quinta Inn & Suites of Kingwood. If you are trying to determine where you should stay while in the Houston area, the answer is here. Let me explain, Firstly, I do not write reviews unless it encourages people or uplifts them, if you are looking for a reason to loathe this establishment I would stop reading. Considering we are in the middle of a pandemic, I thought temporarily residing in a hotel would be unpleasant and painful. Thus, I was wrong; while waiting for my house to be finished I experienced first-hand kindness, friendliness, patience and true hospitality. When I first made my choice to stay at La Quinta Inn & Suites of Kingwood, I was immediately impressed by the orange tree in the back by the playground, like I have never seen such a large lovely tree- picking the fresh oranges made me feel special and taught me the true taste of an orange, I will definitely be planting an orange hedge in the future because of it. However, I had a convenient room near the elevator, and I would have thought all the noise in the hallway would make my dog boof, but she rarely did- because the walls were soundproof, which helps because the highway is constant like the ocean waves. In addition to the room being absolutely spacious and a home away from home, the pool and gym are wonderful amenities that helped me stay healthy, busy and fit. The jacuzzi being out of order due to covid is a blessing because I would become soup if it did work, haha. The best part about my stay was a subservient receptionist, attending to any need I had. I am not afraid to ask for something if I need it, because Michelle never made me feel afraid to ask. And I am needy, I require coffee, tea, breakfast to-go bags every morning, consistent new towels, mail carrier checks, pencil sharpeners, 1 Thousand new cards because I am an imperfect guest with a flawed memory of where the location of my room key has disappeared to. In addition, Michelle assisted me with printing important documents for my academic career, and willingly faxed a document that took longer than ten minutes to send. Which personally means a lot to me, in any other circumstance I have had in the past with hotels I have never seen such a go-getting, quick, helpful and encouraging employee. She has gone out of her way more times than I can recall, and I appreciate the services La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham have offered to me. For some background, I have been to a handful of hostels/hotels in other countries, such as the Beach area in Amsterdam and others near Buckingham Palace in London and I can say I am privileged to...
Read more2 star review due to several issues with the biggest being we were confirmed for a king bed with a view only to be given a 2 queen bed room with a view of the parking lot. The parked lot was bare, so it made zero sense our room previously confirmed to be available & ready upon arriving would be the room staying in. The gentleman wearing high heels with dark hair working the front desk was very professional & courteous about it though the issue wasn't resolved with the excuse given the morning front desk employees didn't inform housekeeping to have our paid for confirmed room ready which equates to they're to understaffed and frigging too lazy to properly have all rooms prepared for their guests. We received NO discounts or even a hint of a free night for another time, nothing to make up for the serious frustration over this matter. Second issue: This hotel had an awful falling apart, noisy, aggravating air conditioner in our room. Third issue: As a gift to help the ease of the long drive, stress of traffic & leaving very early in morning for medical appointment, my father gifted us a hotel room located very close to doctor's office. The person who took his call said their hotel policy to pay ahead for someone who themselves was out of state & not staying there were high. He had to fax copies of various items of course and sign several different extra documents which took him a couple hours to complete due to said policies. My dad made absolutely certain when we checked in we wouldn't have to give a credit card of our own for incidentals. Guess what... not chicken butt... we still had to give our credit card which wasn't an issue as far as money goes. However, we were not supposed to have to do this since everything they required was properly handled to no avail. The issue was eventually corrected upon having to call front desk & explain very dorectly why this should not have occurred at all to begin with. It was very stressful, the opposite of the intention for staying there at all. 4th problem: Ppl slamming doors at extreme late hours. Running down halls heavy footed. Ppl above us sounding like they were jumping around. It was a week day we stayed too. 5th & final: it reeked in elevator every time we got in it. The 2nd floor smelled like butts & cigarette ashtrays. There was a massive leak with water bucket by elevator which appeared to have been there a long time. Positives: large body wash, shampoo & conditioner dispensers in shower. Good selection of purchasable food items & toiletries next to front desk area. Nice lobby. Clean pool area with...
Read moreDo not stay at this establishment!!! From the moment we checked in we had a bad experience. First the room that we were shown on registration was not the room that we received. As soon as did check into the room the toilet started to overflow and the phone did not work so I could not call the front desk. After walking to the front desk they did send someone to fix the toilet. The morning that we were supposed to check out on our 2 night stay at about 3 am the toilet again began to overflow, and since we had no phone to call the front desk I had to get dressed and walk to the front desk at 3 am to tell them that the toilet sucks and is over flowing again. The man standing at the front desk proceeded to tell me that the toilet appently is not sucking. At 3am I am not in the mood for joking around, so I began to pack my bags since Noone wanted to take my issues seriously. The man meet me in the lobby when I was on my way to put my bags in the car, at which point he started apologizing and offered me a bottle of water. I asked him if that was his resolution to my issue of a overflowing toilet, at which point he looked at me confused. I proceeded to put my bags in the car but when I went to return to my room to get the rest of my things he locked the front door of the hotel and made me wait 2 to 3 minutes before he let me back in stating that they lock the door every night ( can we say fire hazard, to lock the door with guest inside). I finally asked him what his name was and if he had a business card and he would not identify himself. He only picked up the phone and walked behind a wall. I proceeded to gather the rest of my things from my room. When I came back to the frontdesk to checkout I again asked his name and that is when he proceeded to scream at me and telling me to leave because he has called the police on me. I asked if I owed anything on my balance and asked for a receipt of my stay. He again screamed at me telling me I was threatening him and the police was on the way. He never identified himself and refused to give me a receipt. Never have I been treated this way by an establishment. This took place on 8/17/2024. I have since made 3 attempts to email the gm Sweety Bheda and several phone calls to which I have had no response. Edit: the hotel has si ce fired the guy that was at the front desk but neither the hotel or whyndam will compensate me for the...
