Can't Resist This Houston Hotel – Staying Two Weeks Straight Without a Second Thought

I’ve normally had good experiences at Marriott hotels but this one left a lot to be desired… First off, I specifically booked this hotel because of the pool and hot tub which I was told were out of order when I arrived. Looking it up, it seems like this is a common occurrence. The room itself was pretty decent and spacious with a nice couch and bed. The fridge/freezer just stopped working my second day so my leftovers went bad since I didn’t know they weren’t running. Air conditioning works well but smells moldy. There was also a dripping noise any time the room upstairs used the shower which made me wonder if there is a mold issue at the hotel. I also found bugs in the bathroom. Lastly, the room I was in got wifi maybe 10-20% of the time I was there and when I was getting wifi the speeds were abysmal (see speed test I uploaded). I will be using other hotels during my visits to Houston going forward.

We have stayed at this hotel for over a week (10 days) and the hotel room was not clean. Being a Platinum Member, we know how Marriott hotels are upkept and this was a severe disappointment to us. Housekeeping never changed the sheets on the bed, the blanket had a stain that looked like VOMIT on it and the only thing that housekeeping did was make the bed. (like I said no clean sheets) The floor was not vacuumed and they left trash on the floor. Hair was left in the sink and the shower was never cleaned. Even for an extended stay hotel the level of cleanliness was deplorable!!! When we complained, they only offered us 1000 points and then told us that the room would be thoroughly cleaned tomorrow. This is unsanitary and we are thoroughly disgusted. The only saving grace was the desk worker Lisa who tried to assist but she was the only one working. I would not stay at this hotel ever again!!!

In the middle of a pandemic you would think this hotel would take proper precautions to ensure guests are safe and protected from covid as much as they can. Not my experience. Upon my arrival, the door to my room was dirty. It was the outside so I proceeded to enter and inspected the kitchen and living room space with my husband. The A/C went out at our house so after a long tiring day in the heat, I was exhausted and really looking forward to a shower and a good night's rest. I used the bathroom and to my surprise the toilet didn't flush. This one had a trick to it. I had to hold it down and jiggle the handle . Ummm, jeez. Okay. I turned on the vanity light to wash my hands and half the lights wouldn't come on. Dang, I guess housekeeping didn't notice half the mirror wasn't lighting up. I went ahead hopped in the shower & was mortified when I turned around to see someone else's HAIR against the shower wall. Gross! I got out the shower to call and notify the front desk and on my way to the phone I noticed there was toothpaste smeared on the the wall! Was this room even sanitized?! The only reason we were even at a hotel during covid was because it was literally 90 degrees in our house. I have a complete lack of trust in the hotel industry and THIS is the reason many are uncomfortable traveling during a pandemic! I called the front desk attendant and she was very apologetic. She DOWNGRADED me from my KING SUITE to a REGULAR KING ROOM and assured me management would be in contact with me to discuss the price difference. The rest of our stay was fine. Upon checking out the morning of the 10th, I again addressed the issues we had experienced and the fact the we paid for a KING SUITE but received a REGULATION KING RM. This time the attendant explained management was aware of the incident and arranged for our first night to be complimentary. I was pleased and thought that was fair since we were still paying the higher rate for the other night. So, I left. My mistake was not getting a receipt. Because of covid, everything is paperless and touchless and I took her word for it. After days of checking my credit card statement, I never received a credit. When I called to check the status with the site I booked the hotel through, they advocated on my behalf but came up short. Management refused to rectify the situation. I paid for a king suite and that was not provided. I'm very unhappy with my experience and I will be sure to...

This hotel is in a pretty quiet area by the looks of it. Haven't had a chance to venture out as we just checked in and have not had a good experience so far. I booked a 1 bedroom suite with sofa bed for me and my teenage son. At check in, I asked about an upgrade to which I was first told that upgrades are only done in the mornings 🤔 I asked how so since check in isn't until 3pm and Lisa who was the desk agent checking us in, when on a stumbly, fumbly wordy rampage that basically amounted to it goes by status (My status is Titanium Elite but I didn't care to mention this as it wasn't that big a deal to get an upgrade) Lisa then mentioned that since I selected a 1 bedroom, an upgrade from that would be a corner room which were not available. Now, the parking lot of this facility was practically empty suggesting that it was far from being at capacity and a quick look on the Marriott Bonvoy app, showed me that a corner room as well as several other room types were available and could have been booked for the same night if I wanted. I was disappointed in the lie but kept it moving. ||||Ok, no probs. Took my keys and went up to room 236. On getting there, the room looked like it had been hurriedly 'cleaned'. The dishwasher was running very lidly and there were very disturbing and suspicious looking stains on the sofa bed. Pics attached. I called down to ask about a different room of the same type or if I could switch to another room type that was clearly available and I would pay for it. I just didn't want to lay my head on a sofa bed that looked like it was covered in ejaculate🤢 Lisa stated she would call me back which she did after a long while. She let me know that I can come back down to get keys for my new room which was room 239 and you guessed it, a corner room! Now, how that became available so quickly is magical and truly beyond me. Thankful for a slightly cleaner looking room, I settled in and turned on the TV to watch some Netflix and got even more disappointed. The internet does not work. Of course now, this also means I cannot do some work like I had planned. Seriously regretting booking this hotel and honestly too tired to make any changes at this point. It was a very long drive to get here and I'm glad it's just for one night. I will never book here again and highly suggest others looking for a clean room with friendly, fair and honest service and internet connectivity should also...

How do I start...||The hotel itself was nice. The room had plenty of space. We reserved 2 rooms, a 1 bedroom and a queen suite. ||We were allowed to check in early. 1 person paid $40 for early check in, the other paid nothing. For whatever reason they charge to park, but have their own parking lot. Charging to park is definitely NOT necessary ($7 per night). |Upon checking in, the front desk was crowded so I can see the manager being frustrated as she was the only person there, but there was no greeting. The baseball stadium (kids) is not far away so there were LOTS of kids and families at the hotel.||We had no problem with Breakfast||Our problem was the pool. Firstly, for a hotel this large the pool seems like an afterthought. There's a LARGE firepit built in the middle of the pool but it just takes away from the dimensions of the actual pool AND it was closed the entire weekend. The first day the pool was clean. Maintenance mowed the yard outside the basketball area which caused A LOT of grass and debris to fall in the pool. The 2nd day, no one cleaned the pool. Pool doesn't open until 10a, so you assume that's the time for cleaning. NOPE. There were napkins in the actual pool, dirty towels from the day before thrown about. No clean towels available. The pool was murky with bugs etc. I went to the front desk and spoke with the manager (who was the only one there again) she said she would have the Maintenance man come. He never did. |The 3rd day you could no longer see the bottom of the pool. Same situation, towels, trash in the pool area. The Maintenance man went to the closest, brought a pool vacuum out, played around with it for awhile, went in the hotel, brought out a ladder, set it up under a light outside the pool area, went back in the hotel. Came out, put the ladder away, put the vacuum away and disappeared. Never cleaned the pool or even stepped on the ladder. The 3rd day was our check out. We had requested a late check out to try and get a swim in. We said forget...
