The guys at the front desk were decent people. You have to bring your ID and the exact change for your first night ($18 first night; $16 for every night after; KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS!) It has to be cash. The exact change. There are no refunds. You CANNOT be a registered sex offender. Itās very secure with cameras on the outside, a door that has to be unlocked by the person at the window, and you press a button to come out. They have big lockers with maybe 3 tiers to put your things in. You have to provide your own lock. Thereās drinks and snacks you can buy. As I walked passed the bathroom area I could smell how clean it was. It gets cleaned every morning. The person who showed me to my bed was very helpful. Thereās an area out in the side where you can go out and smoke. Thereās a TV room with tables and chairs. Thereās washers and dryers there for your use. You have to pay a couple dollars to use that. Nothing crazy. You can also buy your own groceries. They have a big clean locking refrigerator up front by the front desk. So nobody is about to take your stuff. The lights go out at 10pm. The noise was kept down when the lights go out. When I woke up I woke up to some surprises. There were bites from literally the top of my head down my right arm. And there 3 were bites in my face. 1 on my forehead, 1 on my cheek, 4 on my chest, 1 on my right calf, and 2 on my eyelid. All on my right side of my face. 5 bite marks on different parts of my head. The restroom area has 5 toilets facing 5 urinals. No doors on the toilets. I didnāt see toilet paper either. Maybe you have to buy some up front or bring your own. Thereās a sink on the other side of the wall from the restroom area. The water works fine. 4 working sinks. No soap though. Maybe you have to bring your own soap as well or buy some. The showers were clean. I was able to get clean and dry off. Bring some cheap shower slippers. And thereās nothing to hold onto if youāre not using the shower head near the wall. Itās not a 5 star hotel. Itās a place to sleep and get on your feet. They need to bring in the exterminator for the bugs. Seriously. Other than that. I suggest people spray themselves down with some bug spray before laying down for the night. And spray some on your mattress too before making your bed. For the price and whatās offered I definitely got what I paid for. If you have nowhere else to go and hopefully things have improved with the bugs by the time you need to stay here Iād say go for it. In the meantime and in between time bring air freshener spray for the toilet, toilet paper, bug spray, handsoap, and your own hygiene products and toiletries. Also bring your own bath towels big and small. Or you have to pay a dollar to use the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat atmosphere. Great people. Truly a God send. I would have been living on the sidewalk if it was not for this place. 15 dollars a night for a bed, and double locker. Back patio with a roof where you can smoke, drink, eat, and play cards, Domino's or games. Sit out there and read your Bible or the latest book you're enjoying. Washer and dryer only 1.50 per load and coffee available for a dollar in the morning. Soda machine, snack machine, milk and orange juice. Truly felt like being in a home. Let's not forget the flat screen TV with cable the showers and bathrooms either. Oh and staff and residents work together to clean the place daily. I would definitely go there again if I had a need. It saved me from living in the cold streets and protected me and my stuff from the elements and thieves. They also have 24 hour surveillance and you have to be let in by an electronically controlled door. I truly thank them all and pray God continues to bless the tx bunkhouse. I pray this in Jesus mighty name...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a very hospitable experience here. I had nowhere to go & funds were low, but this place was a available. Wish I knew about it prior to staying at hotels for a couple nights. Hospitable, clean, kitchen, private big locker and respectful environment. Did not experience any issues here. Everyone pretty much stays within there own space. You give respect, you get respect. Pat was the one to welcome and explain the rules. Very nice guy.
I read some comments on here. From my experience in March 2019, I did not experience any issues or see any wrong doing.
I highly recommend this place if you want a place to stay while you get on your feet for $13 first day $ 12 dollars...
