Econo Lodge Huntington - Barboursville University Area — Hotel in Huntington

I can’t recall the name of the staff member that checked me in, but she was very charming and helpful. I'd traveled quite a distance, and although it was late in the afternoon, she made a carafe of fresh coffee for me. When I shared that I would be working late into the night, she offered to ensure there was fresh coffee during the course of the evening. At 9:00 pm when beverage service would normally end, I received a call from the front desk asking if I'd need coffee while I worked. Additionally, every staff member I encountered: housekeeping, maintenance, and front desk, not only smiled and greeted me, but asked if they could be of assistance. My queen non-smoking room was clean and pleasantly scented. It had a refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, and coffee maker. The A/C and internet worked well. There were plenty of toiletries and the towels were not thin and rough. The bed was comfortable. I didn't have breakfast and therefore, cannot comment on that service, but there is coffee and tea all day. There is also a small fitness room with a treadmill, elliptical, and a bench with weights. The parking lot appeared to have been recently repaved. Both the outside corridors were well maintained and free of debris. The motel is very conveniently located near restaurants, shopping, and gas. My sister and I spent a night in your hotel when my mom was in Cabell Huntington Hospital, we only had to stay one night since mom was only in the hosp. one day.... we were very happy with the room, it was clean, Comfortable, and just a sight for tired eyes! I called to let the staff know we would be checking in late, and they were absolutely wonderful. The young man who was training a lovely young lady, was so courteous he gave us the number and directions to someplace that had food in the middle of the night, since we had not eaten for hours. He even inquired about the health of our mom, he was just the absolute best and I wish I remembered his name! The bed was absolutely a dream, would it be possible to know what brand of beds you use? I slept so soundly on that bed, when the time comes to buy a mattress I want one like you have in your rooms! Thank you all again for helping us out when we were so very tired, and we missed breakfast but, we needed the sleep more... I give this hotel all the stars I can, and then some! I will def. stay in Quality Inn again anytime and rec. to anyone looking for a great place to stay with all the amenities and great rates! so thankful for the inroom coffee and hair dryer also, oh and the fridge!!!! thank...

My wife and I checked into this hotel in late September 2023 around midnight because we had been driving all night and we're exhausted. The first room we were given smelled like cigarettes and the stench was so bad we requested another room. This motel is very run-down. The exterior paint is chipping off the walls and steps. The walkways were filthy and I was shocked at how dirty it was - especially having to pay over $100 for one night. The second room that we were given was not much better and throughout our one night stay we discovered that the room had several bugs in it....dead and alive. The bathroom was also dirty and had stains on the wall and ceiling. The motel was sold out and we couldn't get another room. The following morning we took a cup that we deposited several dead bugs into and took it to the front desk. The clerk explained that she would have to check with the general manager about any sort of a refund. When we finally were able to speak to the general manager much later (he would never return calls), he acted very unsympathetic and hung up on me on the phone - despite me being polite about the situation. I would NOT advise anyone to stay here....
