Hunter House Inn & Suites — Hotel in Ingram

First of all, the rooms are garbage. Let's get that straight. 100 for this roadside motel-level dump is egregious. But I have always been happy to stay here because it is convenient. Never again.||||When I made the reservation, I requested a smoking room and was told I had it. When I arrived, I double checked. The man behind the counter said that the smoking room wasn't available, but that I could smoke in the room they gave me. He even put an ashtray in the room for me at my request.||||After returning home, I noticed an extra charge on my bill. When I called to ask about it, they said it was a charge for smoking in the room. I explained how the desk clerk had approved it and even provided an ashtray. He called the desk clerk and the man LIED and said he told me I couldn't smoke and that he didn't put the ashtray in the room. ||||(Also, most of the rooms have a "no smoking" sign on the door next to the room number. My room did not.)||||I have probably stayed there a half dozen times over the years...as I go to visit my hometown kinda often. But I'll never know again. To call a customer a liar just for the sake of a 50 dollar charge is insane. I guess I understand why the desk clerk lied to his boss, to save his job or whatever...but this is infuriating. ||||Find somewhere...

On a motorcycle trip with my young son and we chose to stay in Ingram instead of our usual stop in Kerrville when we come down. From the call for reservations all the way through the stay it was spot on perfect. |Great customer service and attention to needs of the traveler on a motorcycle. |Location was clean, good drive up easy access and the coldest air conditioning on the planet! Had to call and get blankets which the delivered to the room and REFUSED to accept a tip! Restaurant on site was convenient and the food was way above average for where we were. |Beds comfy, firm pillows and nice hardwood floors throughout. Great water pressure in shower as well. |Old towels for cleaning the bikes right at the front desk. |It’s away from all the hustle and bustle of Kerrville but it’s only 6 miles away if you need to go. Not many food choices near motel , but we can’t say enough about the food at on site restaurant. I had a rib eye steak and veggies with a baked potato and desert for $22! Can’t go wrong!|Will...
