We loved our stay at the Fireside Resort! it was a great location for skiing Jackson Hole or getting downtown. We had a quiet relaxing stay here, and loved how cute the houses are. We definitely admired the designs, being a group of architects & designers. Seeing a young moose was certainly a nice treat as well. There was an incredible amount of snow that had covered the site, but everything was scraped away well enough to get around. It made it that much more cozy to stay inside the tiny cabin for the 4 of us. We also really loved the hot tub, great way to relax after 2 days on the mountain. We were in cabin 23, which is super close for the freezing walk over. The inside felt tiny when we first got there, but was as we expected from photos online. The beds were all very comfy, but we wished the twin beds upstairs could be scooted together since we were 2 couples staying, and didn't feel like destroying the living room for the hide-a-bed couch. Also the heat doesn't seem to make it's way to the loft, but luckily the down comforters were plenty warm enough at night. If we had kids upstairs, I'd recommend asking for extra blankets, or bringing some if you come in winter. I loved the hotel-like amenities provided, which came in handy for wine & when we cooked Chili one evening. The coffee pot & filters were also much appreciated! A few issues we ran into: the free shuttle was broken down, so we chose to take the bus from the local Calico Restaurant to skiing. It was a couple of blocks walk and $1 each way. The next day we chose to drive ourselves, which turned out to be free in the Ranch lot due to carpooling.. score! Our dishwasher was also broken, and filled with water, luckily we didn't need it until our last evening..same thing for the shower. Somehow we waited until our last night (of 3 nights) to use the shower, and it had zero water pressure. We realize we could have called maintenance but we were heading home the next day anyhow, so we didn't knock the rating. Hope its all fixed for the...
Read moreShould have known when they asked if our 40 ft 5th wheel could use 30A that we were being shoehorned into an undersized lot. Should have known the electrical tape on the circuit breakers wasn't for decoration. Should have known when I flipped the breaker and got a big spark something was amiss. I reported the issue to the front office, and they did get a maintenance guy (MG) over quickly. Problem was, the site was at the end of the line and only delivering 110 Volts with no load, so our AC wouldn't run. MG suggested we used adjacent pedestal, which was too far away for our cord, so he brought an extension. So now we're even lower voltage. At this point I requested a move to a 50A site, which got the maintenance supervisor (MS) involved, who suggested my problem was my Power Watchdog EMS and that I should remove that! Then he said even if I moved, I would have power issues on that site, too. Got office to move us to 50A site, although they wanted to bounce us around sites for a 3 nite stay. Wife explained how that wasn't going to happen and the office figured out how to stay put for 3 nites.
So, we moved to a new site with 50A, and sure enough as MS said power was questionable, one leg of 50A ok at 120V but the other 113, we were able to run two AC's to keep RV cool in the hot weather.
The Fireside Resort was our 22nd stay of our trip. The park seems to be transitioning to Cabin stays versus RV stays and our treatment reflected their lack of concern for power requirements of large RV's. At a cost of $160. per nite, this was the most expensive site of our trip and did not meet our...
Read moreCabins were very nice. They are close together but not a big deal, we just pulled/closed the blinds at night. A moose came into the campground one night which was pretty awesome. Firepits are outside the cabins but it would be nice if they had chairs around the fire instead of tree stumps- it was hard to unwind and relax sitting on a stump.
Two stars were given because at checkin, the recpetionist said I had already paid for the room (Aug 2020) and that my card would only be charged for anything additional. During our stay we got a thing of wood and some beer. I checked my credit card statement after we left and there was a $90 charge on my card! When I called, they said that since I booked/paid for my room so long ago, there was since a tax increase so $50 of the $90 was for this increase. This should have been discussed BEFORE/DURING checkin, not a suprise charge on my card AFTER checkout. CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD!!!!! Shady!! We stayed in a number of other places in Wyoming during our trip that was also booked Aug/Sept of last year and those prices didn't change.
Also, there was a huge stain on our bedsheet and I called the front desk asking if we couls get new linens; I even said I would change them myself. The man who dropped off the linens seemed like he was inconvenienced and didn't say a word when he dropped them off, even after we thanked him.
We are very easy going but we...
