I will be advising my employer to avoid booking at the Four Point on Baymeadows in Jacksonville from this point forward. I have stayed twice this month.
My first stay, in the beginning of July, was mostly without incident. The hotel has a room service, "room refresh", policy of being only tended to after the 3rd day of a guests stay. This policy includes towels not being replenished until that third day is met, as I believe the policy statement read in a posting in the elevator. I understand this policy and am fine with it, I do my best to reuse towels to save the planet or work hours or whatever.
On this stay in early July, I returned from work, on our fourth(4th) night, covered in sweat and grime to find our room still had not received any bit of a "refresh", leftover trash not taken out, no towels replenished. I went down to reception and explained my situation of not having any clean towels and how many days we had been. The person behind the desk than gives me a towel but also requests that I "bring all the dirty towels down to the front desk". Quickly changed that statement to "please place the towels outside your room door."
My complaint about this stay was the fact my room not once received a refresh and to get a fresh towel I was asked to perform a task in return rather than just accommodating me.
My second stay, which ends tomorrow(7/22-7/26/), has been far more displeasing. I have run into the same issue as my previous stay with the "room refresh" service. I almost feel as if housekeeping is something you must request at this hotel, they will not do so without your asking I've come to realize.
Also this time around the room I received has faulty drainage in the bathtub, resolving the issue has been a hassle. The first night it drained slowly but quick enough to not cause alarm. The second night shortly into my shower my feet were covered in pooling water which rose above my ankles. I tried to report my issue to the front desk, but it was unmanned for some time. Being tired, I decided to write a note saying "Room 428 BATHTUB NOT DRAINING NOT OVERFLOWING NOT EMERGENCY". Which i placed in plain view on reception desk. Hopeful but not sure I returned from work Wednesday and cut the shower on and sure enough it begins to fill immediately. Being sweaty/grimey/nasty I opt to just jump in get clean fast as possible. Deciding it best to clean my feet after outside of shower and report to front desk. This time be sure to speak with someone. I do just that and when I get to the front desk I speak with a very kind gentleman who seemed to be receiving some training from a older gentleman. When I state my issue the younger gentleman deferred to the older gentleman who asked my room number and stated "we will have someone look at it for you in the morning". The younger wrote my room number and complaint down and off I went. I thought it weird they hadn't offered to change rooms while the issue is dealt with but hey maybe they have a good maintenance dude they can rely on..
Today on the final night of my stay i return to my room, again nasty from work and go straight for the shower. Not long into the water running and I realize the water is not draining. I already committed so once again I shower while wading in over ankle high water and clean my feet afterwards. After I complete my shower my coworker calls the front desk to explain we are still having the issue and we immediately are offered a move to a different room. This ongoing issue has now finally been resolved but only after all the hassle.
I just do not understand why the first time I made contact and registered a verbal complaint about my room was I not offered a fix to the problem at that time. Instead the response I got is "we'll have someone look at it in the morning. The shower combined with lack of housekeeping made for this experience to fall far below. I do not stay in these accommodations for leisure, my focus is to get clean after work and a comfortable nights sleep. I feel this hotel failed to meet my needs and I will avoid it...
Read moreFirst, when I opened my room, two young men were in there. As a woman, unexpected guests are a security concern. I called down to the front desk. The front desk person apologized and explained the person assigned the room before me did not want a handicapped room and was given a new key. The front desk did not know that previous occupant had not left others in her party in the room. The front desk did provide me with a new key at my request.
Before re-assigning the room, the hotel should have checked the room to see if it was clean and empty. I could tell the previous guests laid on the bed. I did not complain at that time because I was tired and still recovering from the shock of having people in my room.
I stayed at the hotel with co-workers. I originally reserved double beds. I switched my room with a co-worker because she wanted double beds, and I no longer needed the second bed. My co-worker told me they found bugs in the bed later that night. I was also told the hotel staff gave my co-worker a hard time about having a double bed even though it was an even switch. To my knowledge, the hotel manager did not contact my co-worker to apologize.
The hallway on the third floor was incredibly hot. Although there was an air conditioning unit at the end of the hall near my room, the temperature near the elevator was stifling.
Although I did not have any issues with Wi-Fi, my peers stated they had difficulty connecting.
It was difficult to connect my laptop to the TV. The way the TV is mounted the HDMI inputs are not accessible.
The USB input on the entertainment unit did not connect to the TV nor did it charge my device. I know the USB input is faulty because I tried two different cables. The USB cables also worked if I plugged it into my wall adapter. I made a complaint to the front desk person. She was kind enough to come to my room to see if she could help, but to my knowledge, no one tried to repair the USB connection.
Although the room overall is nice, the wallpaper is also peeling/bubbling near the doorway. I did not complain to the front desk because they never responded to my previous complaint about the USB, and it appeared a waste of time to voice my concern.
I do like the following about the hotel: The lounge area was spacious. The breakfast area was very clean and the food tasted good. I am glad you have made to order omelets. The gym was also very clean. I liked receiving the...
Read moreLet me start by saying Crystal at the front desk is absolutely awesome! We arrived at a quarter to 10:00 to check into our room. I have to have four joint Replacements and can barely walk. Crystal noticed how much pain I was in and asked me if I wanted to be taken to my room in a wheelchair. Originally I told her no I'd be okay there would be nobody to push the wheelchair because my sister had our luggage cart. She then offered to push me to our room. Absolutely phenomenal service! Then we got in our room 311 - the size was amazing! I did request a handicap room with a rolling shower because it's difficult for me to step over a tub to get a shower with needing to have a hip replacement. The shower chair was already in our room. There was full size of everything we needed shampoo, lotion, body wash, hand soap, everything. No little itty bitty trial sizes to try to have to get liquid out. It was super nice that the beds were low enough that I didn't have to climb up into it. I'm only 5'4 so many of the beds I have to climb up to get into them. These were not that way, I could sit right down on the bed - very refreshing! Unfortunately the walls were a little thin and I could hear next door's TV at 2:30 in the morning still. The other problem we had was the TV remote worked for about two clicks and then died. We were already in our PJs and tucked in bed so we did not bother to call down to the front desk to get either new batteries or a new remote. Unfortunately we could not find any buttons on the TV to turn it off itself so we had to unplug it. The other problem we had was there was no way to make the a/c fan run all night. It only ran for about an hour. A lot of a/cs have where you can turn the fan on not just Auto. Since we didn't pack our fans we had no airflow all night because we didn't need the AC or heat just air. Both of us woke up at separate times in the middle of the night sweating but the AC said it was 61. There's no way it was at 61 in that room. Since the other person was sleeping we didn't want to bother them so we did not call the front desk again. If we could have got the air running we might have had enough white notice to cover up next doors TV. My last disappointment was breakfast was no included even though Expedia said it was. I will say even with the minor issues we will definitely stay here again but will bring our own fan. The service alone was worth...
