My husband and I stayed here two nights for business. We were given a pretty small budget so we chose this property since it was basically the best rated hotel within our price range. The Good: Some of the staff is very friendly, particularly Yvonne on the front desk and Pradip from maintenance. Yvonne gave a warm check in while Pradip saw my husband and I trying to get into our room with no luck. He could have just walked away but instead he took the initiative to ask us if we needed help, went down to the FD to make new keys and brought them back up to us. I was impressed by this level of guest care. Additionally, the pool may not look like much but the chemistry was right on the money (I used to manage an HIE so I have... trust issues with pools lol I bring my own tester kit everywhere), and the water itself looked clean. For those saying it's cool - the water is at about 84 like it's supposed to be - I think the real issue is that the pool room itself is cold. Probably because half of the room is made up of windows, so I'd imagine it's pretty hard to heat. Once you actually get moving though, the temperature is fine. I actually walked in on the maintenance man checking the chlorine which I seldom see at most hotels. The maintenance department is probably the strongest department at this hotel. The beds are pretty comfortable and the shower puts out nice, hot, steady water. You'd think this is a guarantee but I've learned in our travels that it really isn't. The Bad: The property, as others stated, is dated. You get the feeling that the owner doesn't really want to put any money into the property. This is really a shame because this hotel could be so much more than it is with some renovations and TLC. It doesn't majorly impact your stay - aside from the elevator being out of service on the day of our check out. Also a nice bright red Cool-Aid looking stain on our carpet. It is what it is. Housekeeping could use a quick lesson in the 10-5 rule. They really shouldn't be working with doors open - it's a safety issue in addition to looking really unprofessional. On our stay over day, there were multiple doors just propped open on our floor - all the due outs, I would assume. Why? Just mark it on your chart and close the door. Other staff only doors were propped open too. I'd hate for a kid to run in there with all those chemicals! I also saw some instances of carts literally blocking the stairway which would be a safety issue in the event of a fire. Breakfast is.... not great. The day of our checkout, Pradip (remember, maintenance man?), was restocking breakfast bar then when I went to the front desk to change our reservation, he was the one who helped me. Is this place having a staffing issue? I understand not having a dedicated breakfast attendant on days you have less than 20 rooms, sure, but where's the actual front desk associate? This informs the lackluster quality of breakfast. Hot foods were ice cold when we first came down, then while we were eating, new hot food was poured directly on top of the old food. Health code violation! Way too many danishes and muffins out, which is why half of them were stale. Meanwhile, empty oatmeal tray. The minifridge for the milk and yogurt was WAY above the 40 degree or less it's supposed to be. Another health code violation! The breakfast room itself is obnoxiously cramped. Why not pull out a few tables during off season? I would imagine Sunday morning is your most busy breakfast day during non summer months and there was only five people at the busiest time we witnessed versus the like, 12 tables absolutely CRAMMED in there. Everyone was bumping into each other, standing around waiting for other people to move, being forced to completely walk around tables because people were actually sitting in the chairs. I would love to avoid this crowded space if there wasn't the very professional "don't take food to your room sign". Anyway, for a single night or traveling on a budget, this is a clean hotel with no frills. It's not bad. But it's not outstanding, either.

DONT STAY HERE!! YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, IR IN THIS CASE WHAT YOU DON'T PAY FOR. We tried to save a few dollars as we were here for a bareavement visit so we went with this shack. What a disaster. This outdated location has stains on the walls and in the corners of the bathroom. The furniture had scratches and scrapes. Rooms are definately dated and had an odd smell. Even the elevator was dirty. The worst was when we tried taking showers the water came out in a trickle....NO water pressure... no conditioner, very kittle shampoo anls wa ell as bidy wash thar you have to pump and pump and pump like an old bicycle pump from a wall mounted dispenser in what can only be aeen as the latest effort to save money. I could have had a better shower standing out in the rain. Even if i got wet in the shower... this olace even downsized the bath towels to slightly larger than the size of a standard hand towel. NEVER AGAIN. I should have paid the extra money and stayed in a Holiday Inn or Hampton Inn.

All in all a good hotel chain the brand is good but some of the actual hotels have seen better days items not repaired or just the way things are done my room was comfortable but the white curtains were damaged ok that and they are serving again grab and go again which is very annoying as the self serve you can have what you want and that it’s a preset meal you have to reheat the horrible part is l don’t eat cheese and don’t drink regular milk so your always stuck with what you can have at least with the warm breakfast I’m ok with, at the Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn they do a real breakfast but here not. The pool was nice could have a enjoyable work out otherwise the stay was ok. I know it’s not the error of the hotel with all the rules that we as people have had to get used to over the last year, but why is it that when there’s a sign that masks should be worn that people are so ignorant of this request, it’s like l respect myself and others around me yes l got myself vaccinated.

A Disheartening Experience at Best Western: Discrimination Towards a Disabled Individual

Review:

It is with great disappointment that I write this review about my recent stay at Best Western. As a frequent traveler, I have always believed in fair and inclusive treatment for all individuals. However, my encounter with the staff at this particular Best Western location left me shocked and appalled.

During my stay, I witnessed an incident that deeply saddened me. A disabled person, who was clearly in need of assistance, was blatantly discriminated against by the hotel staff. Instead of providing the necessary support and understanding, the staff displayed a complete lack of empathy and respect towards this individual. It was disheartening to witness such behavior in a place that is supposed to prioritize the comfort and well-being of all guests.

Discrimination against any individual, especially someone with a disability, is completely unacceptable and goes against the principles of equality and inclusivity that should be upheld by any reputable establishment. It is not only a violation of basic human rights but also reflects poorly on the overall values and ethics of Best Western as a brand.

Aside from this distressing incident, I also found the overall customer service at Best Western to be subpar. The staff seemed disinterested and unresponsive to the needs of guests, further adding to the negative experience. It is evident that there is a lack of proper training and sensitivity towards serving individuals with disabilities within the hotel's staff.

I strongly urge Best Western to take immediate action to address this issue and ensure that all staff members are educated on the importance of treating every guest with respect, regardless of their abilities or disabilities. Discrimination has no place in any establishment, and it is crucial for Best Western to actively promote inclusivity and eliminate any form of prejudiced behavior.

In conclusion, my experience at Best Western was marred by discrimination towards a disabled person, coupled with lackluster customer service. I hope that this review serves as a wake-up call for Best Western to reevaluate their practices and make the necessary changes to create a truly inclusive and welcoming environment for all guests.

In addition we had bugs in your hotel room and the inconvenience caused. It is highly unacceptable for a hotel to have such issues. Additionally, it is important for the hotel staff to respect the privacy and comfort of their guests by refraining from contacting them in the middle of the night, unless it is an emergency. This lack of consideration can greatly disrupt a guest's sleep and overall experience. The hotel management should address these issues promptly to ensure a pleasant stay for...

It’s a bit outdated for sure, however it is Joliet . Upon arrival I did come into an issue but the manager did help me and I’m very proud and surprised because you usually don’t get that type of service in Joliet. Although the first receptionist made me remember why business in Joliet is declining the manager promptly made me proud (even with the tiny bit of attitude) however the lady during my last two nights was so kind and because of those two I rated a 4 stars !

The rooms were okay again outdated at least my room. There was a hole where you could see into the other room. The plumping may need some work as my sink wouldn’t properly drain it was clogged which made washing my face in the sink a bit difficult. The bathroom is tiny and the door placement is very odd. The walls are so thin I’m sure I heard someone doing the deed at 2am or screaming not sure which but yeah.

People talking about the room cleaning. It is noted that if you are staying to request . Which makes sense because it shows that they’re not just walking in your room. I asked for new towels and were given them no problems . I’m not a dirty person so I didn’t need my room cleaned for my stay. Even though it’s a hotel it’s not hard doing that yourself.

The restaurant / bar looked updated and nice bummer I didn’t try .

I don’t think I saw the pool opened , which also was a bummer.

I liked how the keys were just a tap instead of having to insert them into a slot.

The location is fine I guess it’s behind two other motels . It near stores and restaurants . No more than 8 mins for things. Which in Joliet is a good distance.

I would like to also add this is the first hotel that I’ve been to where I didn’t have to request a room change due to dirtiness. Of course it can be updated and it would pretty much be 5 stars across for me. I would stay here again if I really needed to!

Heat and AC worked...
