My car was broken into while parked outside the hotel. While I understand that the hotel may not be directly responsible for what happens in the parking lot, the way the situation was handled was disappointing.
After noticing that other cars had also been broken into, we went inside to let the front desk know. The staff member said this had happened before. When we suggested that guests might want to be warned about parking in that area, we were told that the manager had said it was not their responsibility and that we would need to call the police, that it was a convenient place to park so they’d continue recommending it to guests. It definitely makes you wonder how often break ins happen there. A few cameras would likely go a long way in terms of prevention.
We explained that we were not complaining, just letting them know what we saw and suggesting they take some kind of preventive action for future guests. Instead, the focus stayed on repeating that it was not their fault and offering to call the police, which felt like missing the point. There was no offer to check on the other vehicles, and the response felt more like an attempt to avoid blame than to show concern. It seems strange to just wait until some other guest comes up to notify them instead of trying to proactively reach out. The staff member also kept pointing out that this happens at other hotels, though this was the first time my car has ever been broken into while traveling. It was a very loud ride home on the interstate without a window, so that was a bummer.
The rest of the experience was lovely. Everyone else we interacted with was kind and helpful. The rooms were clean, new, and...
Read moreParking is quite limited. We came back to the hotel around 8pm after eating and had to just sit in the parking lot and hope that someone would leave soon so we could park. I noticed that people were parking in the hotel lot and then going across the street to other businesses. If you have a handicap placard, you'll probably be good. There always seemed to be a couple of those empty.
The bed was almost like a water bed. It was too soft and even the smallest movement from one person will move the other. If your partner is even somewhat fidgety, you will be regret this hotel.
We asked for a quiet room, as I'm sure most people do. We were put in a room next to what sounded like a children convention that was starting festivities at 10pm. A dozen or more children came in screaming and laughing at 10pm on their way to some kind of conference room just next to us. I had to step into the hall to ask them to pipe down and probably traumatized them. I tried to call the front desk and the phone either didn't work, or they just weren't answering.
If you plan on bringing your own firestick or roku device, be aware that you'll need a universal remote for volume control. The remote for their TVs controls a set-top box volume, not the TV itself.
Oh yeah, when we checked in we were told it was a river view room. I didn't really care about that but I don't think it was. I mean, unless you smashed your face into the window and looked as hard as you could to the right you could see a sliver...
Read moreJust the facts: The shower was broken, spraying water across the bathroom. The e-card lock on the door was buggy, taking several attempts before unlocking. The bed was incredibly worn in and sagging on one side (very soft bed) and the pillows were so fluffy my wife and I had to use two towels from the bathroom for pillows. The room would not cool sufficiently (it was not a particularly hot day/night) and we kept throwing the sheets off and on throughout the night. The hallway was very loud up to and through midnight (not the hotels fault). The surrounding area is under construction and the infrastructure simply isn't there to support, yet. There was a soccer match on the evening we stayed and it took us 40 minutes to get back (driving) to the hotel from 5 minutes away because of road closures (not entirely the hotels fault, but extremely frustrating). The small in-room refrigerator stank terribly (likely from the past guests left-overs). There was an extremely bright light on the ceiling that flashed every 15-20 seconds. The room itself was clean, as was the rest of the hotel. The staff at the front desk did not ask us how our stay was, and we were too exhausted (very little sleep) to have the discussion during check-out. I'm sure this hotel would be great if you were attending a soccer match - avoid for...
