Decided to take my Daughter for an evening bike ride and see some new scenery. While riding, we worked up a bit of an appetite so we decided to stop in to try a new place. Before entering, we looked on-line and checked the door for their business hours, which listed that they close at 6 o'clock. Being it was only 5:27, we decided to dine- in... bad idea! We were greeted by a young lady whom seemed very confused as to if she was to seat us or not. She checked her phone, another phone, a clock and then she finally asked another Lady if she could seat us. After a brief discussion, she asked if we wanted our food to go and I said, "no, I would like to sit down because I'm riding a bicycle." I assumed at first there was a slight language barrier but after several attempts of explaining why "to-go" would be a bad option while riding a bicycle, she finally showcased her complete comprehension and responded to me with extreme unprofessionalism and told me I would not be able to sit down because they close at 6. My response, "it's only 5:34..? I get it, I suppose... However, maybe a sign or some form of disclaimer indicating that "30 minutes prior to closing, only to-go orders are to be placed" would be helpful or courteous. I gave a 3-star rating on atmosphere because it seemed to be pretty clean on the inside but as for the 1-star, that's due to the terrible attitude and lack of courtesy from the greeter towards my Daughter and I. Wish I could leave a rating on the food but we never had the chance to...
Read morei had a wonderful experience here. the last time i ate here at this location, it was pho kc - my parents were super close with the old owners who knew me when i was a wee lass. the new faces at pho lan still treated me as if i was family! there are street parking spaces out front, and going inside it is very clean with less booths than i remember and more tables. they were incredibly kind and attentive to me. ordering was a breeze in vietnamese.
i had their cha gio as an appetizer, and their pho dac biet as my entree with an iced tea. the tea had a wonderful aroma and soft flavor (for only $1.50!) and the cha gio was fresh and a wonderful small bite to start off my meal. the accompanying nuoc cham was a perfect blend of sweet, spicy, and savory, i ended up pouring the rest of it into my pho.
to follow up, the pho was amazing! all the meat fixings and fresh garnishes you would expect for pho dac biet, and the broth reminded me of my own mom's broth... it felt like being back at home with the classic viet jams in the background that i couldn't help but hum along to! the damage was only $20.50 for a giant bowl of delicious pho, two fresh eggs rolls, and iced tea. i would wholeheartedly recommend coming in here for not just a meal but what felt like home away...
Read moreOur Go-To Spot for 6 Years! Consistent, Delicious, and Incredibly Personal Service. We have been coming to Pho Lan KC for about six years, and it is hands-down one of our favorite and most consistent restaurants in the city. The food is always fantastic, but what truly makes this place special is the service. We were so impressed when one of the servers (he's not very talkative, but he's incredibly attentive) recognized us without us ever having to introduce ourselves. Now, when we come in, he remembers our orders and makes sure we have everything we want every single visit. It's that kind of personal touch that makes you feel genuinely welcome and valued. As for the food, it's always reliably delicious. My personal favorites are the beef Pho and the Vietnamese meatball Pho. My wife absolutely loves their beef Pho, the Vietnamese fried rice, and the deep-fried egg rolls. If you're looking for amazing Vietnamese food and service that truly goes above and beyond, you have to...
