There were bedbugs and they were visible! Found two running across the sheet, so gross. The price for the tiny closet of a room was exorbitant! They charged an insane amount for a room that had a twin size mattress and a night table and no space to even walk around the room. Theres no private bathrooms in any of the rooms. The shower and toilet are shared between god knows how many guests. Also it's obviously more of a boarding or halfway house than a motel. The other guests said they had been living there for years!! And on my way to the restroom I bumped into a man (more than once) wearing just a tiny towel that showed much more than I wished to see. Clearly he considered the "motel" his home. Everything is old, dirty, and stinks like cigarettes. The owner and house manager were rude and unpleasant and clearly thought because I was a woman they could bully me and make up lies about check out rules. When faced with my husband their entire demeanor changed. Horrible experience and horrible staff (if you can even call 2 old guys who provide no services "staff"). Would not recommend especially for women...
Read moreThe manager Vinnie was a wonderful man. The building was built in 1902 he told me. The few tenants were met were nice people. We just needed a room, so for $80 what could you expect..... It was a small room. Maybe 10’ X 10’. Room was clean. Fresh sheets and a kickin AC in the window and a small fridge with water. There is a TV but only had a few channels. Maybe 5! And it would cut in and out like satellite tv during a storm. It also has a shared bathroom on the 2nd floor. It was clean. Other than the inconvenience of leaving your room to go use the bathroom, there wasn’t an issue. The building did have a smell of age and of old people. No offense. But for the price, you can’t beat it! If you just need a place to crash for a night then this place will do the trick. It’s on a quiet street with a small back yard within walking distance...
Read moreRoom was basic but clean and more than sufficient for my needs. I prefer to stay in simple digs like this when I travel because I'm spending most of my time sightseeing. The shared bathrooms were also clean and well maintained. There's a manager named Vinny who lives on-site and is very personable and good at what he does. Cappuccio's Hotel is a lovely old building that's full of character and has been standing since 1902. It's also located about a 20 minute's drive from Gunnison Beach and Sandy hook NP and historic Fort Hancock and 10 minute walk from Keansburg beach and amusement park. Keansburg NJ is nice working-class resort area across Raritan Bay from NYC inhabited by unpretentious,...
