UPDATE: We’ve just received a phone call from the owner about our experience, which is truly appreciated. They have offered to “make it right” and spoke with the staff that we interacted with that day. If nothing else, I can at least say as a business owner, I would do the same if a customer had any issues. Thank you for reaching out to us and for your sincere apology and concern. We will definitely consider stopping in the next time we are coming through the area.
Quite a shame really. On our way home from Odessa, NY our truck broke down. We limped into the Counrty Cupboard parking lot (Which is actually a very nice place, I’ve gone there with family since I was a child). It was closed for a Sunday evening. So we had to get a room since all parts stores were closed as well. Called in to try to get a room at the Best Western. We let them know that we had our service dog with us. The woman told us she wasn’t sure she could even give us a room because they don’t allow pets. We informed her that she is a registered service dog, we have her card and papers, and that they would have to allow us in with the dog. She still was very hesitant about us bringing our dog. Out of desperation, we still walked over to the hotel to check in. As we got to the front desk to check in, I produced my service dog’s documents - she wouldn’t even look at them - a Korean man walked up behind us (he thought our car was parked at the door and needed clearance) our very tired dog simply alerted that someone was coming up to me - not a full out bark - just a chirp. I assured him that she was friendly and not aggressive, she just wanted to say hi. And then out walks what I assume was a manager. He immediately had a very aggressive and unwelcoming demeanor. Tells the clerk she needs to get us checked in right away to get this dog out of the lobby. We were being rushed for no reason. I assured him the dog was friendly and we’d be ok. His response was “No, you don’t understand, I have a bus load of Korean people getting ready to walk in and I won’t have blah blah blah...” I cut him off to ask what was wrong with Korean people and why it would matter? She is a service dog, she’s used to being around large crowds? And still, he was berating and rushing the clerk to check us in. My husband and I immediately stopped her, gathered our family and walked out. This was the most awful experience I’ve ever had with a hotel, with or without my service dog. And we didn’t even stay. We limped our truck to an adjacent hotel, which also did not allow pets, but was happily accommodating, welcoming, and more than able to respectfully allow us a room...
Read moreJust a quick stay at the Best Western Plus Country Cupboard Inn but I was really sold. Really, just booked it because of the location and rate but got so much more.
It's just off a small pond, with really peaceful spots that would be great to prepare for work, read or just relax. At the same time, it's probably the largest Best Western Property I've ever stayed. It was also the most impressive.
Everywhere I went on this property, and I walked a lot (got lost looking for the gym, I should pay closer attention to signs) was spotless. The lobby is large where you can actually hang out and not feel like youre watching the front desk. I mentioned the fitness center, among the best hotel workout areas I've seen. The provide multiple cardio and weight training options and again, very clean. From the fitness center, you can see the pool/hot tub area, which is inviting (didn't have time). It's indoor, but at the same time, very sunny and bright. Laid out great.
The room itself was spacious. Great sitting area (got to watch some football, I know it was preseason but still). The bed was large and comfortable. Desk area had room for everything I bring along and use. Always appreciate having a fridge, microwave and Kerrigan. Like the rest of the property, spotless and quiet.
The bathroom is divided, with a sink in the shower/toilet area as well. Another sink is on a vanity with lots of counter space. Terrific if you're traveling with someone else.
Not sure I could've been happier with this booking unless maybe I stayed another night and had time to take advantage of more of this Best Western Plus. I will book this...
Read moreI did a quick overnight in Lewisburg, PA, and this hotel is a practical choice, especially for anything related to Bucknell University—it's very convenient.||Certainly not a five-bubble luxury experience, but where they absolutely shine is cleanliness. Everything felt spotless and well-maintained.||However, the bathroom is notably small. |Amenities are nothing to write home about: a small fridge with complimentary water (no mini-bar), hairdryer, iron, and the standard ice bucket. I did appreciate the "thank you" candy—a nice little touch, though don't expect artisanal truffles. ||The room itself is pretty spacious for two. However, I do wish the room was more well-lit; I found it a bit too dark.||The hotel experience starts well; the lobby is small but inviting, and the front desk was well-staffed, quick, and friendly. ||Free breakfast is a plus; good coffee; and they have 24-hour access to both a pool and a gym. They leave out cookies at the lobby for guests. ||Everything is small and simple but the effort to make it a pleasant stay is appreciated. Other hotels we’ve stayed at when passing through small towns offer a lot less. ||One of the highlights is their outdoor area. They have a nice seating spot with fire pits overlooking a pond, which is great for unwinding.||Parking is easy, and you’re close to plenty of dining and the main strip mall area. Overall, it’s a very clean, comfortable, and convenient option for the...
