I stayed in room #138 on 12/16/2021. This was the most disgusting motel room I have found myself occupying in three decades. I had never taken the Kenly exit before, but had no choice when I started hearing the rumble strips due to driving tired. The exit seems to be one huge truck stop complex flanked by your choice of either a Quality Inn or the Motel 6. If the Motel 6 is setting the standards here, the Quality does not have to do much (if anything) to earn their name. The room itself could have passed for the low end of what you could expect at this price point: drab, dated and a few cigarette burns in the bedspread. It was the bathroom that turned my stomach and would have had me going elsewhere had I not been dead tired. Mold circled the defective caulking around the tub, the overhead light fixture was coming loose at an angle, tiles were dislodged at a number of places and the toilet had not been fully flushed since the last use. Trying to block all of this out, I turned the tub faucet to full hot and filled the tub. Sticking my foot in brought the realization that (even at 8pm at night) the water was only a little over 80 degrees. Lukewarm. No hot bath for me that night. Perhaps I was lucky. The mattress obviously had some age on it and was a three or four on the ten-scale of comfort. See the photos I took of this dump and AVOID at all costs.

Pros: Water pressure was awesome. Room overall was clean. Quiet place and the bed was comfortable. Food nearby. Coffee was good! I didn't get the name of the FD agent but he was awesome. Manager not too much (assuming she was a manager). Cons: The roaches, first saw one dead squished on the ceiling, then my bf notice one ALIVE crawiling on the night stand, we moved the table, there was another one alive and bigger, i have pictures and video, went to FD, im assuming she was the manager she didn't looked at me or acknowledge, very unprofesional, the FD agent took me to another room to check before moving our stuff... the other room was ok, but still slept with the fear of one of those crawling in bed with us. Should consider making the gap on the main door a little smaller. Would have loved for me to make coffee in my room and not walking to FD to get it, but coffee was good.

While the people were friendly, the room was disappointing, to say the least. One of the beds was seriously broken down - even the box spring sagged. The sink backed up, the light in the toilet/ bath area burned out. The floor had been swept, but was grossly dirty - my daughter's feet turned black after briefly walking on it barefoot. Another of my daughters reported the sheets appeared dirty, and the pillows had brown spots on them. The room darkening curtains appeared to have been shot through with buck shot. I seriously wonder what crime had previously taken place in this room. I didn't complain until morning, as I had children and a dog traveling with me. I knew all they could do was move us to a different room. That would have been a lot of trouble since it was so late. The manager was on vacation. How do I get a refund?

I would give NEGATIVE stars if I could. Everyone at the front desk has NO common sense or human decency (except for nicole who helped alot!!). They act as though the rooms are 5 star rooms when they are NOT but of course the owner or whoever is to cheap to pay someone to steadily do maintence in the building! I'm not sure how this place is still in business when all the manager/owner does is constantly kick people out and lay down several moronic rules such as that after 3-4 days of staying you have to checkout and check back in THE NEXT DAY or that you cant sit outside of your own room! Why on earth would anyone come back with how rude the staff is and plus if they can't come back till the next day they'll find another place DUH! The young white girl is probably the only one with common sense and brains that actually keeps the place running and customers coming back because of how helpful and nice she is but once she finally leaves I don't see people choosing to stay here no matter how low they keep their price! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE! Everything may look good and clean on the surface but I was here everyday for months and saw the housekeepers "clean" and they do NOT wash the stuff in room everyday such as the blanket and bedspread, its nasty! On the surface things may look clean but this place is trash please spend the extra money to stay ANYWHERE else but here! This place is only good for a one night stay because that's all the owners care about they do not care about the guests AT ALL and need to have some training done on how to effectively run and operate a motel and talk to guests. If I could give negative...

I had high hopes for my first Motel 6 experience based off of the reviews/ratings I saw online for this location in Kenly (NC). However, upon going into my room, I was met with a stale smoke smell (despite it being a non-smoking room and confirming with the front desk staff that they did put me in a non-smoking room). The bedspread had burn holes in it, and when I inquired about this and the status of it being a non-smoking room, the front desk clerk said "maybe housekeeping accidentally put it on." If it's been in a smoking room and has a smoke smell to it, why would you ever put it on a bed in a non-smoking room? Non-smokers are sensitive to this. When I asked if there were any other rooms to which I could switch, I was told they all had 2 double beds (which I didn't need) and would cost more. The clerk also said that the rooms directly above me were smoking rooms, so maybe that was causing the smell. Ugggh! The pictures shown online were not representative of the quality of the room. They seem more like an artist's rendering or a "model room." This room had clearly seen a lot of use and some abuse. There was no in-room coffee maker, no in-room toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotion), and no in-room hair dryer (or even a laundry bag). Not sure if that's standard for Motel 6 or not, but even other inexpensive chain hotels/motels seem to provide these things standard. There was such a large gap between the bottom of the door and the floor that you could clearly see daylight; I had to put a towel there to provide some type of barrier. Again, just not...

We needed somewhere to stay for an extended period of time with pets. This was close to the location we needed to travel to back and forth during our stay. The room was decent size and they were in the middle of upgrading the rooms. The beds have an awful metal frame on the bottom that you kick constantly and sound like thunder. Very small fridge missing bars on the door so you could only use shelves, for a long stay that was inconvenient. The microwave didn't work, we requested a new one but never got it. The trash can was maybe gallon sized and ours was split down the middle and most of the top half of it was broken off so we barely had a trash can. The Wi-Fi was horrible, so slow and you constantly have to keep signing back in. The TV dropped signal all the time. The sink faucet was barely connected to the counter top and the water shot out sideways so we were always getting soaked trying to use it. The maintenance guy checked it and said it was good lol. I just wish they would take a little more pride in their place. If we were only staying a few days, no big deal, but we were there a month and a half. Our housekeeping lady was wonderful and very helpful. Conveniently located to lots of food. Plenty of area to walk dogs. I hate to speak ill of anyone's business but I really just wish they'd take a little more pride in their establishment. No laundry facility so we had to go the laundry mat every week. For the price I guess it was okay but would have been nice to be able to use...
