My husband and I went on a day trip to Hanging Rock State Park and had car issues near Kernersville on our way home. We found ourselves unexpectedly stranded in Kernersville 80 miles from home on a Friday night. Every nearby hotel was full with the exception of this Sleep Inn. Although we are Choice members, we had never stayed at a Sleep Inn. We used some of our points for the room. The weekend points requirement is 20,000 for a queen room. I think that is too high based on other Choice properties where we have stayed. It should not be more than 16,000. ||||That said, we were very pleased with the room and our stay! Friendly staff! The hotel is 2 stories with adequate parking. Pets and smoking are not allowed - a plus for us! The outside and inside of the hotel was clean and well lit. We were in room 200 which is just up the stairs from the lobby and on the end. It looked and smelled clean. The room was small but they have made good use of the space. We had a refrigerator and microwave. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Shower had plenty of hot water and great water pressure. The towels and washcloths were thick and fluffy. We heard no noise from the hallway or from the room next to us. The one downside was the air conditioner. It was very noisy. The breakfast was adequate and typical of Choice properties. However, the tea bags for hot tea were much better than any Choice properties we have stayed at! ||||I would not hesitate to stay here again or to recommend it to someone looking for a place to stay...
Read moreDuring our stay at the end of October we had a few issues. I feel bad giving a negative review, but it’s ultimately on the property to control issues like this.
First off, we had some mold in our shower, and part of the laminate wallpaper was coming off the wall due to moisture. But that wasn’t even the biggest problem.
The biggest issue was that we had some kids (don’t know if they were even guests) pull a fire alarm in the middle of the night, and empty a huge fire extinguisher in our hallway literally outside of our door. We were traveling with our toddlers who were fast asleep so waking up to a blaring fire alarm in the middle of the night was awful all around. Not to mention the panic that set in when I opened the door to the hallway and saw all of the haze from the extinguisher (looked like thick smoke). We immediately grabbed our boys and went to the lobby for at least 30 minutes until the all clear was given.
The night manager was upset that it happened and very apologetic, but honestly the fact that there was no comp of any kind for our trouble made me a little upset. I don’t expect anything, but given the fire alarm issue I’m surprised. The fact that something like this happened was unreal and is enough for me to never stay at this...
Read morePrice gouging for Furniture Market. Prices were raised by over $100 per night. My credit card was charged $497.20 for two nights at the Sleep Inn!!!
Hotel DID NOT HAVE A WORKING ELEVATOR. Very difficult for those of us not on the first floor. It was not repaired during my stay.
NO INTERNET SERVICE : on Saturday night, the night clerk had to call someone and have them reset it and I was finally able to receive service. The following night there was no service whatsoever and it could not be resolved. I am there for business, and it was impossible to work without Internet.
At checkout, clerk could not print itemized receipt. Requested to have statement emailed. It was not. I have called the hotel two more times & asked that statement be emailed to me. It was not
Credit card was charged $497.20 for just two nights at the Sleep Inn. Next weekend is showing $118 Saturday, $85 Sunday. Not only is this extreme price gouging but I wonder what other miscellaneous charges are on the bill that Mr. Patel does not want me to see.
This is not what I expect from a Choice Hotels property. It appears that the owner is negligent and likely dishonest. I cannot trust Sleep Inn or Choice properties until this matter is resolved. Robert Skotnicki...
