I take my computer very seriously. I use it 10 hours a day pretty much 7 days a week. I am an avid blogger and use my computer mostly for corresponding with others across the globe and blogging my travels. I got to Winston Salem to visit family yesterday..turned on my laptop today-- and nothing. Nothing except the blink blink blinking of a dash on a black screen. I near had a meltdown today. Seriously. So I am on my phone looking for some computer geek to fix my baby. I was not impressed with the reviews of other places. I did narrow it down to a couple places and decided to head out to drop off my life to a stranger. I walked into a store and it was just rustic-- and i mean RUST (ic).. A gentleman came up and couldnt tell me what was wrong right away and after 20 minutes tells me I have to leave it and pay a fee. But then told me it would take a minimum of 2 days or so and he would give me a call. I left. I would rather just buy a new computer then wait for my child to be fixed so she can be on her best manners. So Techwindow-- I should have chose this place first. It was a little drive and I am new here, but I thought Seriously Susan-- just make the drive. I walked into this shop that was sooo cool literally. I damn near melted on the drive there. I took my baby inside and said "she keeps blinking a dash at me". The guy laughed. We laughed together. He asked if he could look at it on the spot and I was happy about that. He also said that two problems are most common for this and explained both could be fixed same day. But then he said "cross your fingers because it might be a quick cheaper fix. He turned my laptop over and unscrewed a piece of plastic off.. I am standing here thinking "Oh my god he is going to kill it" But then he laughed. He touched something inside the computer and then put the plastic on. He then started my computer. It turned on-- seriously saved my life. After this nightmare was over I needed to know how to just save my work off my computer because this whole ordeal made me almost lose my mind. We went over externals and saving data. I also mentioned I wish my laptop was faster and so he screwed off more plastic and put something inside..
Today I lost my mind-- but techwindow found it.
The costs?? $0 for fixing the initial issue--- DARN right!! Nothing. $40 to make it faster and $80 for an external thing- that he saved my data on.
Techwindow-- Thank you....
Read moreif i could give less than one star i would, i tried to go in on a monday during regular hours and it was closed, no notifications on website nothing. so i was like okay this guy is prolly runnin late it happens to the best of us, i went around to do aarons for a few hours and checked back and still nothing. so i went back the next day and finally it was open, then when i walked in the door all i could smell was cigarette smoke, which nearly knocked me down it was so gross, the owner is very rude and has very limited pc skills, i went in as 'techie undercover' so to speak to try and see what all is in the area and hoping to making new connections and a maybe friendship. His prices are way jacked up and overpriced, also when you work with computers you need a sterile environment i could tell he had been smoking inside and that in itself is an accident or lawsuit waiting to happen because it damages and can ruin computer components with a closed pc, do not get me started about how bad it is when in direct contact with the internal components..Anyways the overall experience was absolutely horrid, and people like this give us techies who try to be good and clean at what we do, and work constantly on our 'people' skills because there is already so much stigma to it a horrible name.. If you can refrain from this guy please do, you will be grateful and glad you did. I never give bad reviews and it takes a lot, but seeing this guy has 5 stars it has to be a false rating, this is terrible!!! first off it is rude to call someone a liar especially a customer, second off i am not with a computer store, and finally you WERE closed on monday and i came back tuesday. so don't call me a liar when i am speaking from my personal experience, i do not care if people know you or not, that is no excuse neither is smoking in your store. good day to you too, i am done herethis is no longer worth my time, as i am trying to inform others about YOU not you about them, also if i was lying you would not have to call me a liar and try to throw it at me. Well done, yes you are such a...
Read moreI bought my computer to have a few new parts replaced. I paid up front and got my computer back a couple of days later. Anytime I played one of my online games my computer just shut off. Bought it back and told them what game it was. They said they could never get the same result and decided it had to be a motherboard. They took it out for me and I sent it into the company and paid the mailing fee due to it being under warranty. Three weeks and the part comes back and they can’t find anything wrong with the motherboard. When I gave it back to them they “tried” again to get the computer to shut down but I found out that they didn’t even try using the game that caused it despite it being loaded on the computer they used some other games benchmark . I get it home and my sound won’t work, which wasn’t ever a problem. Contact them again about it and the owner tells me he will get one of techs to contact me which he did. I sent him the info and didn’t hear anything back. I tried to check in with the tech and the owner but both ghosted me with both the sound not working and my computer just shutting down. My boss told me that it was likely my power supply and he would help me put it in. That fixed the computer shutting down at least. I just moved here and worked with much better computer groups than this! Find...
