Not My Place. I booked Not My Place several months in advance. I asked them specifically if they had freezers that I could store fish in, because I planned on fishing for a week. They said, "Yes, of course!" When I arrived, I quickly realized that the front desk clerk (we'll call her clerk #1) didn't want me storing my fish in the hotel's freezer. I felt she was disgusted with my presence. Additionally, the hotel didn't have enough help. The front desk was almost never staffed. One evening, when I put my fish in the freezer, I noticed the temperature wasn't dropping. It was almost 50 degrees and it started dripping inside. At this point I called the front desk and said, "There's a problem with your freezer." Clerk #1 came up and literally said, "Did you f--k with my freezer?" And she called me cheap and told me I should have rented a freezer elsewhere. She was verbally abusive and unnecessarily combative. I was appalled. I have never in my life been treated like this in a place of business. It was so bad my family did not even want to walk past the front desk because they were in fear of feeling the wrath of clerk #1. Fortunately, there was another clerk (clerk #2) that was very kind. She went above and beyond. She gave me a number to text when I needed anything. She helped me whether she was on the clock or not. Her name was Kendra. She saved our vacation. Fortunately, Kendra continued to come to the rescue every single day I was there. She was always on call and ready to help in any way necessary. And the only thing I really needed was to make sure my fish was frozen before I left town. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and the water pressure was great. There were plenty of clean towels. There was a full kitchenette, including a full-sized refrigerator and oven. Oddly, there were no cups, dishes or silverware. We called the front desk and were offered plastic dinnerware. I had to eat my cereal in a paper coffee cup with a plastic spoon. Unacceptable. Additionally, this place was built to accommodate workers from the nearby shipyard. People are literally living in this place. There was a dog continually yelping in a room down the hall. It just felt a little weird, like I was intruding in someone's house. All in all, I'd have given this place one star due to clerk #1 and the fact that there was not enough help. However, if Kendra had been the main clerk, I'd have easily given this place five stars, even without the dishes and silverware. Kendra was that good.

The hotel seems very proud to have received a 9.2 rating from Trip Advisor and Booking.com as they have it displayed in their lobby. However, after the experience I had, it makes sense why they haven't received the same rating for the past 4 years: The hotel needs a LOT of improvement; mostly from management. According to the hotel's website, they offer a "full kitchen." What they mean is you get a full size fridge, an induction cook top, and a microwave. Yet, nothing to cook with. You'll get dish soap though! To wash what? I have no idea as they don't provide you with anything to cook with. Their website says, they offer a "lounge/bar." I was here for 10 days? What lounge and bar? It doesn't exist. Unless the site is referring to a snack bar that they keep day old coffee at in the lobby. "Room service" is next to non-existent. Upon check in, I was told I would receive room service every 4th day. I had to go remind them of the expectation on day 5. When I eventually did get house-keeping, my toilet paper was restocked and trash taken out. Nothing was wiped down and my bed was sloppily made. My co-worker never get room service; nor a "Hello" or "Welcome" any time he entered the hotel from the staff. The rooms are spacious, the bed was comfortable, and overall was clean. It's also convenient to the airport. Those were the only things I liked about the hotel. I'd stay here as a last resort. Otherwise, next time I'm in Ketchikan, I'll stay at The Landing or Cape Fox.

Worst place I have ever stayed. If I could give zero stars, I would. My room didn’t have a toilet seat. I requested one twice, but the front desk attendant was too high to keep a train of thought for more than 10 seconds. He couldn’t even remember his password to the computer when checking in, which was about an hour ordeal. Room was dirty; it looked like someone had just cleaned a fish in the sink. Don’t waste your money at My Place in Ketchikan!

The nearest restaurant is at the hotel next door "The Landing" and their food is not good either. There is a grocery store next door to the hotel which has a fair selection.||Walkability: It's not very walkable to much. It's a bit of a hike to get to downtown.||Rooms: The rooms are a decent size and rather spacious. The bed is very comfortable too. Rooms have huge coffee pots if you like several cups. My coworker's water pressure was hit or miss whereas my pressure was fine, but waited an eternity for hot water to finally come out of the pipes.||Noteworthy Details: Don't expect any amenities here such as a fitness center, keurig coffee makers, or dishes/utensils despite supposedly being an "extended stay" hotel. Either bring your own, buy them from the hotel, or "rent...

Avoid this place at all costs. I had to call twice to get my reservation confirmation emailed to me and it never showed up. I chose this hotel because I was there for a 4 night stay and the pictures showed a range, and microwave oven and a fridge. The had all of that but no pots, pans, forks, plates, ect. When I inquired they said that they usually sell them, but they were out. They said I should try a second hand store. I thought am I supposed to pack this stuff when I depart? When I complained to their customer service website the manager responded and said that because of the Alaska Food Code they cannot provide these dishes because they can't sanitize them. Other Alaska Hotels like the Aspen Suites do provide the dishware, pots, and pans, so they must of spent the money to get a dishwasher. |My next issue was that there were construction being done in the lobby and one of the workers was smoking outside in front of the air conditioning system which stunk up my room. |My key had to be rekeyed several times, and the front desk was unmanned most of the time and I had to wait at a window outside the hotel because the lobby was being remodeled until someone showed up. I had the same situation at check out and the person who did that was the General Manager who looked like he just woke up at a homeless shelter. He was very unkept. |As I stated before I wrote to their customer service website and got a response from the manger and wasn't happy with his excuses. I ask for the email of the CEO so he could explain how his company can charge me $225.00 per night for a total of $900.00 for a stay with all of these issues. The GM replied that he was on the email thread. I have not heard from the CEO. Save yourself the aggravation and stay anyplace else but...
