If youâve ever dreamed of living inside a Mario Kart gameâcomplete with winding trails, wild turns, and a splash (okay, maybe a lot) of rainâthen buckle up for Kawanti Adventuresâ kart experience in Ketchikan, Alaska. Itâs the perfect mix of adrenaline, laughter, and unforgettable scenery.
Even with the rain coming down, the experience was an absolute blast! Our guides, Robin and Aden, made the whole adventure shine. Robin had us cracking up with his sharp wit and contagious energy! Meanwhile, Aden doubled as both trail guide and unofficial photographer extraordinaire, capturing some amazing shots of me and my husband (plus a few hilarious selfiesâweâre not mad about it).
Driving the karts felt like being dropped into a real-life video game. Mud splashing, engines roaring, trees blurring byâit was Mario Kart, Alaska edition.
Rain or shine, this is an experience weâll be talking about for years. If youâre heading to Ketchikan and want to trade cruise calm for off-road chaos (in the best way), donât miss Kawantiâs kart tour. Just maybe pack a raincoat⌠and your sense of...
Read moreI took Rainforest Wildlife Sanctuary & Totem Park tour on 6/13/2025. This was an excursion from a cruise ship, so my group and some others were picked up by a bus right at the cruise port and driven to the sanctuary, which was about a 20 minute drive.
Cari was our tour guide. The group had 7 adults and 1 child. We walked along an easy trail while Cari told us about the types of trees and vegetation. She was very knowledgeable, and also had a fun personality, and cracked a few dad jokes đ
When we were on the raised wooden walkway / boardwalk portion of the tour we actually saw 2 black bears out on the grassy field! They rolled around in the grass and sun for a while. We also saw a harbor seal, and many bald eagles.
The totem area had 2 mostly completed totem poles. Cari talked about the carving process. She said usually the carver is present, but he was off on the day we visited. There is also a blacksmith onsite that makes and sells traditional hunting knives, very high quality.
And finally there is a small bar and coffee shop attached to a gift shop. This tour was well...
Read moreAmazing bear hike with Justin and Erin! Donât let the rain dissuade you from going out and trying your luck - we were very lucky on our hike! Within 5 minutes we saw our first bear walking through the field, then splashing around the water trying to catch some salmon. Later on we saw another bear sitting in the woods and eating berries. He would reach a paw up and grab a branch, pull it down to his mouth, bite it and then swipe across eating all the berries in one bite!!! Another bear was sleeping (too cute!). The others we saw walking around, eating grasses and drinking water and just being beautiful wild animals!
In addition to the FIVE BEARS we saw!!!!! We also saw Bald Eagles do their mating flight (where they capture their talons together and spin, then fly off together). And we saw salmon jumping, 2 Moon Jellyfish and 2 Banana Slugs!
There is so much wildlife in Alaska and Iâm grateful the animals wanted to come out and say hello!
I know we were so incredibly lucky and Iâm so happy we came out to hike with the bears! I definitely recommend...
