I stayed a total of 4 nights over two different stays. Overall, a good hotel. For the area, the rooms are pricier than the others in the area, but to me, there's good reason. Also, for better room rates, call and make the appointment rather than book online and you'll save money. PROS: Front desk service was great, specifically the 2 main ladies at the front most mornings. Kayla worked the front desk and drove the shuttle and was a great host. Shuttle service was great. They provide rides anywhere in town with no questions and no concerns. They have set times for Wal Mart, but other than that, they run from 0600-2200 and go anywhere in town. 2 restaurants in the hotel. The lower cafe was OK. Nothing too special, but they do give a $10 breakfast voucher. Jerimiah's was pretty good. Specifically, the clam chowder was the best I've ever had. Customer service at both were great. Ferry to the airport is right across the street. Very convenient location to where you can walk to the ferry easily. The bed and pillows were quite comfortable though. CON: The rooms are simplistic, if you're hoping that anything special is provided. Pretty much getting the same thing as any hotel, just a slightly pricier cost. You need the shuttle if you want to go downtown. This is a very minor con, as the shuttle service is great... but the location isn't convenient for just walking to downtown. The Wi-Fi is TERRIBLE. I used it for my laptop and it was efficient enough to load youtube to curb the boredom, but not much better than that. I ended up using my regular phone service (4G) instead of Wi-Fi because it was quicker and more convenient. Walls are THIN. Can easily hear conversations of those in the room next to you. I was woken up after my first night by someone's cell phone vibrating on the table in the room next to mine. The part of the cell phone waking me isn't the fault of the hotel, but just explains the thinness of the walls. OTHER: Laundry room has 2 washers and 2 dryers. Sufficient to get the job done. They have a vending machine, which is currently cash only. Overall, it was an ample and sufficient stay. My second time here, I could've stayed elsewhere to save a little money, but the convenience of the location, the ease of having 2 restaurants, and the shuttle service were enough to where this...
Read moreMy stay earns a single star due to lack of service and support related to an issue I had while staying. I was in Ketchikan for work and while I was out of my room, my laptop must have been dropped, accidentally I'm sure, but nonetheless basically destroyed. I reported the issue to the front desk the evening I discovered it and the front desk said she'd inform the housekeeping manager. At least another two days went by without hearing anything. I went to the front desk again the morning of my departure and took my laptop with me. I restated my entire story for another front desk staff (very friendly) who took my laptop and said she'd have the site manager get in contact with me. Two hours later, I went back down to the front desk to pick up my laptop as I was going to be heading to the airport soon but still hadn't heard from anyone. She stated the manager had tried to call my room but that was fiction as I'd been in my room working the entire morning. Finally a manager met with me and gave me the "canned" script of investigating the situation, determining if any of their processes had been violated, etc. Well, this wasn't a process thing, just a probable accident where someone dropped my laptop. Anyway, the manager took down my email address and phone number. She said she was going to "send an email right now" so I had her email address and knew she was addressing it. That was ten days ago. She also stated she was going to let me know, probably by the following Monday, what she had discovered. That was a week ago. AND...I also sent a follow-up email to the two General Managers on the Wednesday following. Still no reply. I am out $900+ for a new laptop I had nothing to do with the damage. The most disappointing thing, though, is their total lack of communication, accountability and customer service. With my experience, I CANNOT RECOMMEND anyone stay here. It was a very costly...
Read morePlease beware of using this hotel. If I could give negative stars to this hotel I would. I travel often for work, and decided to try a new hotel in Ketchikan. Surprisingly I heard good reviews. Normal check in, there was nothing special about the service. I went up to my room, and it was not very clean. I cleaned up a bit, and got settled. Made the mistake of opening my suitcase on the bed then leaving it next to my bed. I usually bring my own bedding for comfort sake due to long stays. I was not sleeping under their covers, which probably protected me a bit through this time. As the nights went on, I started noticing a couple of itchy spots on my arms and back. One or two, so I thought maybe it could be mosquitos from being outside often. Did not see any other signs of bugs in the room. It wasn't until right before I checked out that I woke up and there was bedbugs surrounding me. I was able to grab two of them and put them in a bag. When I went down to inform the front desk, she ended up calling the manager. Who then talked to me through the phone and insinuated that I was the one who brought them in. I was truly upset due to her lack of care about the situation, and her insinuations. At the time there was also someone who works with me who was staying in a completely different room than me who also had multiple bites on her when I talked to my coworkers the next day about the situation. So that confirms that I was not the one who brought them in, and that they don't have a problem in just one room. The hotel staff was extremely rude otherwise, and far from accomodating with anything. Which is a whole different story. Poor service, and a bedbug infestation. I will not be staying here again, and highly recommend being cautious if you do decide...
