I have stayed at many, many Motel 6's this year in many states because I am travelling cross-country and Motel 6 is normally very accepting of dogs, of which I have two. This is without competition the absolute worst motel 6, or motel in general, I have ever been to. First at check-in, the Indian man at the front desk was very rude. He ignored my question about if there were any singles available and just asked immediately for my ID and payment. He didn't tell me the price, ask if I had pets with me, ask if I wanted smoking or nonsmoking, or ask if I had a floor preference. Just wanted my credit card. After I paid, he didn't point or otherwise indicate which direction my room was (which every other hotel I have been to has done), he just walked away from the desk. Then, when I entered my room I was immediately grossed out by the filthy, stained carpet. I didn't think it was that big a deal at first, but when I took my shoes off I immediately stepped into a wet spot on the carpet in my socks!!! Later, the man at the front desk saw me walk my dogs down the hall and into my room from my car. He then calls my room, at 11 at night, and asks how many pets I have! 11pm! I tell him I have two dogs and he sounds pissed and says I was supposed to tell him when I checked in. I told him he didnt ask and then he starts yelling over and over "it's my fault??!! It's my fault??!!" I didnt know what to say after this so just repeated again I have two dogs and then he hung up. I have always, always disclosed having my two small dogs with me, Motel 6 is very pet friendly and it has never been a problem until now. I did not this time because it just wasn't asked in the weird check-in that I had. I'm fairly scared for my safety at this point because I'm a small, young woman travelling alone. When I entered the hallway later to walk my dogs outside, he was standing there and just stared openly me at me without saying anything. Very creepy. To top it all off, there were a ton of bugs in the entryway and hallways, and this Motel 6 is far away from the interstate in the middle of nowhere. Definitely a mistake to come here. Definitely do not come here if you are travelling alone. Dirty motel and aggressive, creepy front desk man that will take out his...
Read moreI drill in Kewanee every month and had been staying at this motel for quite some time. It was cheap and nice enough for what you paid, until this month. They had raised the prices from around 45$ to two people with a room to 63$.
We get to our room and check for bugs, like I always do. Didn't see anything. They changed the pillows from nice and fluffy to mini pillows, so that was upsetting. We go to sleep, but I wake up and I go to the bathroom there were bugs on my arms and feet. I freak out immediately, figuring they were bed bugs, but after a closer inspection my roommate and I realized they were fleas (bed bugs don't jump but fleas do). I check the bed again and find a lot more. At this point it is 11:30 at night and I am over it. We catch a flea in the cup and take it to the front desk. We told them what it was and showed them. They said they could only give us another room, not our money back "because you could've brought in the fleas in your pockets." Seriously?! They said we brought the fleas in ourselves. So we got a different room and we didn't sleep that night, too disgusted to.
Then they were rude to us upon checkout. We checked out and left, telling them we won't be back. We also told all our armory friends who stayed there and they will not be returning either.
It'll either be a good stay or a bad one. But don't expect to get your money back if you have bugs. I was mainly appalled at how quickly they turned from being welcoming and understanding to blaming us for their problem.
I would just pay the extra money to stay at the hotel next door, they have a pool and also free breakfast. Thanks for reading,...
Read moreI checked into the Motel 6 in Kewanee, Il in September 18 and checked out on the morning of September 20. Upon checkin the owner was very friendly and when i went to the room it was acceptable. Later that evening when my fiance and I were about to get in bed, we turned back the covers and found a long, black and curly hair in the and upon further inspection the sheets appeared slept in because of stains and extreme wrinkles. I called the front desk and asked if it would be possible to have clean sheets. The owner came up and was talking bad about the housekeeper, his wife them showed up with clean sheets and they proceeded to change the bedding while speaking in an agitated manner in a foreign language. The bed had 4 pillows that were not in protective covers and from the raggedness and how flat they were I would judge had seen many years of use. The next afternoon, i went to the front desk to ask if i could get some towels as we booked 2 nights and only had one set of towels. The owners wife was very upset that i hadnt sought out the housekeeper to get them but after scolding me did finally give me towels. That night, while we were sleeping another guest hit my car and did damage to the rear bumper. I discovered it when packing my car to check out. When i turned in the key card, i asked if the owner could check the camera to assist me in filing a report...i was told he isnt responsible for that and he will check later. So i was unable to file report with police and will be out of pocket for the damage to my vehicle. I will never stay there again.
