I come from Texas, so this place really shocked me for being a buffet style restaurant. The place was rather small. There is no real feel of being authentic. The buffet was what really got me. All the food I got tasted bland. No salt. No kind of flavors or seasonings to be had. I'm not sure if it's just an Illinois thing because I run into this a lot at restaurants. Lomein noodles were made from spaghetti. Also No real flavoring or typical veggies that go into lomein noodles. Sweet and sour chicken were not edible. Too soggy chicken and again no flavoring in the sweet and sour sauce. The prices were really cheap. 35.00 for 3 buffets and 2 soft drinks. This was a great place to stop and get lunch! It's not very often that a small town chinese restaurant offers sushi rolls as a part of the all you can eat buffet but it was and it was delicious! The tempura fried ones I don't think we're fresh as they lost their crunch but one item out of all their options was not bad at all. The mosscake was super delicate and melts in your mouth, the crab ragoons were perfectly warm and creamy, and I was so happy to see lo mein made with udon noodles! The service was very friendly and our server was on top of drink refills and made sure our empty plates were cleared promptly. I have visited this location quite a few times during the past couple of months and dined in for the buffet. I have noticed the food is not always fresh if you dine during non-peak hours. At times, some of the food has looked like it has been sitting there for quite a while and should have been thrown out.
In the dining room, a wall has been put up recently, making the dining room a bit smaller. Let’s hope this means that a remodel is in store soon. The carpet and some other areas of the dining room is filthy.
