UPDATE FROM A LONG-TIME CUSTOMER:
I am very pleased to report that after taking some time off based on a regrettably disappointing experience I had here several months ago, my wife and I decided to revisit Los Ranchitos about 2-3 months ago to see if things would be different. (We actually stopped by the Los Ranchitos in Princeton and enjoyed ourselves so much that we decided to stop in our local Kewanee Los Ranchitos to see how it would go after some time away.)
To our pleasant surprise, the manager remembered us and went out of his way to welcome us back. He also expressed his regret that we had stayed away so long. The food was outstanding (as it had always been) and the service was also amazing. We have since visited them on multiple occasions and we have had a delicious dinner and attentive service each time. It feels wonderful to be a regular again and I want to take this opportunity to salute Pablo for making the extra effort to welcome us back. I also want to thank him and the entire team at the Kewanee Los Ranchitos for the consistently friendly atmosphere and amazing food. It's GREAT to be back and to feel appreciated! (UPDATED NOVEMBER 2024) I have been a frequent customer here for approximately 20 years (since before they relocated after the fire). Last night's service was insulting and I doubt I will EVER return. The man who I was told is the manager stood at the table next to us (presumably 2 friends or family) and fraternized with them for close to 15 minutes, discussing the finer points of tequila, while our table of 3 waited first for an extra order of tortillas (15 minutes)--and then for a small box to package our food to go (it never came)--even after I had expressed extreme disappointment to the manager about the slow and inattentive service as I was paying our bill.
The slightest bit of attention (a quick look or kind word) to us as he socialized with the table right next to us would have revealed that we were in need of assistance--and would have made us feel as valued as the table of 2 next to us. Regrettably, it felt to us like he was purposely ignoring us as he chatted and shared drinks with the neighboring table...
Last night's service was not merely slow and inattentive--that would have been disappointing enough, but service was dismissive and rude. The hollow apology I received during my follow-up call to the restaurant did nothing to assuage my concerns or to ease the insult.
Terribly...
Read moreWe have came here for YEARS! We always pick up our order at the drive thru. Once in a while they make mistakes and we say NOTHING because overall we love the food. We even have them do separate orders so that our food don't get mixed/messed up. We shouldn't have to do this but we do to avoid issues of them mixing up our orders because it has happened in the past. Their rates have went up quite a bit and service has gone downhill a bit but we still CHOOSE to order. Today, they messed up our order and I called to let someone know. BIG MISTAKE! I spoke to the owner’s wife. Now you would think that at MINIMAL we would get an apology. NOPE. She offered a measly $5 credit. Which is an insult to people who CHOOSE to still order even tho the prices have went up and despite the mistakes we have overlooked. I mentioned all of this to her and it was apparent that she could CARE LESS. As I let her know, we will NEVER order again. Again, she could CARE LESS. With all the businesses struggling, you would think I would have at LEAST gotten an apology and an offer to make it right. NOPE. Just got told I will make sure they get it right next time. WOW. What about this time, when we just dropped over $50??? The food is good but not good enough to accept this. THANK YOU owner’s wife! Just read some of the other reviews about how they do NOTHING to make a mistake right. Best of luck to anyone who complains about a mistake that THEY made. THEY COULD CARE LESS!!! We also order from Fernando's. He ALWAYS apologizes when a mistake has been made and makes it RIGHT. Him and his wife are ALWAYS welcoming and THANK us for coming. Maybe Los Ranchitos can learn a thing or 2 from the smaller guy doing...
Read moreHorrible experience in drive thru. Ordered 5 meals paid then was told it would be 55 min for my order. Came back after 55min was told still not ready please go thru drive again and it would be ready. Went thru drive again was there twenty min car by window did not move like they made me move thru. Gave up went inside to pick up it was ready got home half or order was missing. Said she would throw in something for free because of trouble at window. That was not even there and to top it off I paid 59.95 for these meals. They should have been right. If you are too busy to handle orders then tell people we are backed up if you would like to order come back later please and we will gladly serve you then Do not take order when you truly can not handle them. Do not make someone move thru line again and then not make another person move thru the line. They say the one down town is better. Guess I will try it next time. Inside service has always been great....
