I found this place while looking for a motel for my trip to Monterey Bay. I was on a budget and looked for something an hour away from destination just so I can save some money. In this search I found Keefers Inn.
When we got to the hotel we got greeted by a gentleman who was not the nicest guy and a little out of place. He was making jokes that my buddy needed to relax. The rest of the staff was wonderful. Once we checked in we were on our way to our room.
The room was big, clean and looked comfy. It had a small refrigerator, microwave, large flat screen TV, coffee maker, ironing board, small table with two chairs and toiletries. Bathroom was spacious and water pressure was great. It was a wonderful room and I was excited to spend the next two days there. When I took a shower I noticed there was some long hairs on the wall but hey I didn’t mind that.
The next day my buddy and I headed out to kayak and put a sign that we wanted our room serviced. When we came back to the room everything seemed to have been cleaned and it was once again an exciting experience. Unfortunately, when I took a shower, I noticed that the dirty towels we left on floor were only re-folded back to their original place. My buddy also noticed that the dirty face towels that were on the floor were only re-hanged. Not acceptable Keefers Inn! We didn’t complain about it but just re-used them. I will say though that if we’re paying for two days and ask for service the second day, they should provide clean towels as we are paying for this.
Overall, the experience was good. Motel was quiet and felt safe.

Read moreWe are from Redding, CA and needed to drive to Greenfield to check out something on Craigslist. We did not want to stay in Salinas so we drove past Greenfield and stayed in the Keefer's Inn.
My first impression was, "oh my gosh, what have we gotten ourselves into..." The lobby was dark and had an awful smell. We checked in and went upstairs. As we went in the door to the hallway, there was a torn up chair propping the door open. As you walk into the hallway, the carpeting is pulling up from the ground and was bright red with other colors. It felt like it was something straight out of the Shining. We stayed in room #47 (door number taped onto door with masking tape). I walked ALL THE WAY DOWN the hallway, slowly peeked in and a huge sigh of relief came out of me.
The room smelt clean, fresh and had brand new carpeting and paint. The entire bathroom had been remodeled in tile, it was white and brightly lit. The bed was made beautifully like a Best Western does. I do love Best Western. Best of all, we had a good night of sleep. Yes, you can hear traffic but not if you blast the AC. You are also in the same parking lot as a Shell Station (beer) and a restaurant that opens for Breakfast at 7am. Which was perfect for us since we rise early.
Also, check out Gourmet Pizza in their little town. It...
Read moreI have been traveling by bicycle for the last seven weeks on the west coast of the United States. The Keefer Inn is the first place that I have stayed at that truly appreciated my business. Deep ( not sure on the spelling) and his wife Sima made me feel incredibly welcome after a hot windy day on the roads.
There was a problem with the internet - what did they do? Deep immediately called the Internet Technician and had it fixed in about 6.75 minutes. I had no laundry soap - he gave me a free one because I was on a bicycle. He made me laugh - numerous times
These people are not being nice for the sake of being nice - you can tell they are warm-hearted and sincere. I am traveling alone and the most wonderful thing that I can experience at the end of the day is a happy smiling face. It was my pleasure to pay for a room and a hotel experience such as this.
Other hotel operators have lectured me - scowled at me - been grumpy with me and have treated me like they were doing me some kind of favor by unloading my cash out of my pockets. I wish every hotel in my travels were half as nice as these people.
The rooms are nice and clean for a...
