the King City Motel 6 is very conveniently located,. at the top of Broadway CIrcle just off US 101. Its prices are considerably lower than the other motels nearby, and considerably lower than the average price for a Morel 6 in the Central Coast Valley area of California.
The front desk staff were friendly and courteous, and there were no problems with the Internet reservation I made earlier in the day.
This Motel 6 is celan but very no-frills even by Motel 6 standards; the room I had is best described as spartan. I did notice a bent towel rod in the small bathroom, which had only a shower stall and a toilet and sink; the shower itself was cleaned well, but had not been given a finish coat of pain.
I appreciated that the room did NOT smell of overly strong or perfumed cleaning products, as I have allergies. The free WiFi Internet service worked, and was a totally "open access" system without any sign-in, , which means that travelers who need to use the Internet should be careful about handling finances or any confidential data, and careful about signing out when they are done.
There is an outdoor swimming pool that looked well maintained, but it is not heated and no one was using it in December, when I stayed here overnight.
The small refrigerator in the room was running a bit on the cold side and my yogurt froze overnight. Rooms are equipped with a microwave and a small fridge, and they both were clean, again without seeming too :scrubbed" when I arrived.
Overall, this is not a bad place if you simply need a place to spend a night or two and access your e-mail. Sometimes the less expensive motels can attract a young "party" crowd, but other guests were all quiet and appropriate in behavior as far as I could observe, and I felt safe and...
Read moreIf there was a 0 star I would give it! This place is disgusting and the manager Bobby the Indian guy is a liar! I drove 3 hours to King city from Antioch to work an event in jolon the next morning. When I arrived they gave me room 230 and when I got in the room there was McDonald’s everywhere the bed looked slept in it just looked like someone was still there. So I went back down stairs to get another room. They gave me the room next door. It seemed fine but as I got comfortable and took a shower there were no face towels. The heater didn’t work, the dead bolt was broken, the remote to the tv didn’t work and one of my towels had a hole in it. By this time it’s 10:30 and I have to be up for work at 5 and I was exhausted from the long drive. So I tried to sleep and then went to complain at 6 am on my way out. I tell Bobby the guy who was there the previous night about my stay and he apologized and said his manager will reimburse me and to come back. So I came back at 3:30 and the lady’s in the office notified me that I was actually talking to the owner and manager which was Bobby. He left for the rest of the weekend and was no where to be found. So he lied to my face and has been avoiding since. I’ve called corporate on him and they are handling it as well. But I will never stay there and no one should ever stay there. Go to all of the other decent hotels around broadway cir. You will regret staying here. I have never went through this before. Take your money and your...
Read morearrived to the room on the 2nd floor (think it was 214), the bed sheets had faded red stains on them, the TV did not work, and the Thermostat was broken...but those were minor compared to finding roaches crawling around the floor and it was the middle of the day! I was going to leave this motel asap, but ask to see another room without bugs (just to see if every room came with pet bugs), and they moved me to another room, at least there were no bugs (that I could see). However things were still falling apart and dingy in the bathroom, and front door was difficult to close and the safety bolt was hanging on with just barely one screw. there was also a gap in the front door so you could see the outside when it was close and cold air was entering late at night. They obviously are not concerned with quality control, just getting the most they can get for a room without making any repairs or cleaning. Unless really desperate this place should not be on your list of places to stay even if the $80 per night seems cheaper then the nearby competition, it is not worth the possible infections or security issues you may leave with. walls are paper thin and you hear cars entering and locking during the night. only wanted to give 1/2 star, just for location and price, but the other issues make it closer...
