UPDATE August 2020: Just a quick note to applaud the high level of service we have enjoyed at this M6 location. When I stay at a hotel for personal and pleasure purpose it is generally at a 4 or 5 star property. However, when staying under the auspices of one of my non profit organizations we generally try to be respectful of budgetary considerations and are more likely to stay at M6 or similar properties. As we have enjoyed our stay at this specific M6 numerous times, we are highly qualified to relate our experiences with staff over a long period. In particular we would like to single out the superior service provided by front office person CALVIN and head housekeeper EVILIA. BOTH of these individuals are ALWAYS cheerful, professional, kind, and go out of their way to provide an excellent experience. Without going into personal detail here in this public forum, let it be clear that we have very high standards and these two individuals have always met or exceeded our standards as well as any staff at a 5 star resort. Dealing with the general public is often challenging and thankless. Personally, I could not do it. In fact, we can be difficult, demanding customers ourselves, on occasion. Despite such challenges, CALVIN and EVILIA do not let the issues of some customers bleed over into their interactions with other customers. They treat everyone with the same high level of courtesy and professionalism. In short, we hereby publicly acknowledge the fine staff, including but not limited to Calvin, Evilia, Hailey, Happy, Vy, Brian Monique (and others whose names we were unable to acquire at this short notice but who still deserve applause!) who work together so well at this location and the ongoing excellence of our experiences at this M6 on Alvarado Blvd in La Mesa and recommend them highly.
PREVIOUS REVIEW ONE YEAR AGO: IWIth respect to the staff, David the manager was very pleasant, Happy and Victoria, the front desk clerks tried very hard to assist and to deal with the reservations that were screwed up by your #800 reservation line. (ie: my name was not put in correctly, the extension of my stay was not recorded correctly, clerks could not find the reservation number, etc etc etc) The famale manager, at first unpleasant, finally transformed into a normal manager dealing with our frustrating issues. Additionally, she was able to find the reasons why the rerservations people had incorrectly entered our data, and she corrected it as well as showed the counter clerks WHY that problem occurred.
I was able to observe that there were only two ladies at a time to clean the entire hotel; they worked their behinds off. I noticed these ladies, thinking they were not being observed, were meticulous at cleaning even the parking lot, picking up the tiniest bits of detrus. They showed constant pride of workmanship. Additionally, all the cleaning ladies represented your company with great pride and kindness, helping and working with me and, I observed, the other customers who needed various items an services. Each of them were very pleasant and kind.
We had a dog with us, made use of the doggy park on your property.. Fortunately we did bring our own doggy bags, as the dispenser in the park was empty 3 of days. Also, some customers did not pick up, and maintenance only picked up...

I just want to say that all the ladies here Jasmine, Miriam, (front desk girls; 😊), Molina, and Maria (the two main maids) have all been such dears and gems. Every time we have come here they have always been friendly, welcoming and inviting. They make our stay when we do very pleasurable. Whenever I came in the office they were always like Heyyy how are you? How can I help? Which is more than I have gotten from the main heads which is enough to say quite pitiful and sad. And it really makes the name Motel 6 cheapified and intimidating. Being the head GM/Owner of a business particularly one that is representing a major chain name such as this one you have a sense of dignity and a reputation to uphold which is that make the guest feel welcome, accepted, and unafraid. And I felt none of that with the main heads of this place. Rather the opposite. You know the old slogan Motel 6 We'll leave the light on for ya? Well they skipped that whole part left us in pitch black in the hospitality department and it feels more like we have to be careful with everything we do like we are constantly being monitored and watched and ridiculed and critiqued. Us little people who are taking day by day just trying to stay indoors and not outside we have a voice and we can use that voice for good or bad. Meaning we can either rave about your place or tell people not to come here to go up the street and around the corner to the one on 69th or right across the bridge to the Heritage. Now, they may not have the same amenities but at least the Heritage has a laundry room and the one on 69th has more cable channels and an ice machine that works all the time unlike here. It's intermittent. We were without a phone for week and so we were needing to borrow our friend's during that time so when I need to call my mom at the room I can do so and the very attitudy, ornary, abrupt, and downright rude man (I am guessing one of the heads) and disrespectful to me stating that, "That there was one too many calls to the room we were in and that would have to be the last one because we were short staffed and (I quote precisely) "WE CAN'T KEEP COMING TO ANSWER THE PHONE EVERY TIME YOU CALL" and I had to do some important errands the evening of Feb. 3rd 2025, and my mother was manning the room that night as a means of communication from me so for almost an hour I couldn't keep her updated on what was happening and to make matters worse the phone cord was loose and kept coming out and it came out before I got back so they have lousy phones as well. Whose damn ear is square shaped and you can't hold the receiver down and redial and it's aggravating. My mom is a medical patient and if for any reason God forbid medical services needed to be called she would have been helpless and I wouldn't have known til I got there which would then be grounds for lawsuit under the guise of abandonent and neglect to comply and ensure safety to the guest. So if you don't have a personal phone that works or haven't been able to pay the bill beware because they will make it your problem and cop an...
Read moreFirst and foremost , I had made my reservation online , which at that time , I didn't recall staying at this facility before , and to this day, I still don't ! Later after making the reservation, I received several calls from the front desk clerk saying he had cancelled my reservation due to my name being on a DNR list , which I still don't know why! After not receiving the phone messages until I got off work and arriving at the Motel 6 , I learned about the cancellation. The manager at the time didn't have much information as to why I was on such a list, so she allowed me to pay for my stay, and given me the key for my room 116. I played and stayed for 5 days, but on the 5th day, I had returned to my room only to find Monica (day manager) standing at my door yelling at my daughter about removing my things from the room and putting them in a dumpster for lack of pay. My daughter was trying to tell her that I was at work and that I would come to the desk and pay for our extended stay once I got back in about 2 hours from that time. Now I know check out is 12 noon , but didn't at the time. I just happened to return back to the room on my lunch break to find Monica and some guy trying to put my daughter out of the room. I have stayed in motel 6 before and if I was out of the room at check out time, they front desk would have just deactivated the key card and I would have had to go to the desk to resolve the issue . In this case Monica had an attitude because her Boss had overridden that list, which I now know means Do Not Rent. Like I said , I don't know the reason for being on the list, but will recommend a dog to stay at this particular Facility ! I called the corporate facility and was informed that the actions about the list, and of Monica (day manager) were strictly at that facility and I was offered to stay at another location in town. I paid for service for another day only bevsudr it was in convienve for me to move my things on my hour lunch break, and to keep her from harassing my family! On top of all this the room didn't have anything in it , from towels, extra blankets, microwave, an iron or board, wasn't worth the $400 plus, I paid...
