After years of staying at various hotels in Los Angeles over the years, ranging between 2 to 5 plus stars, you can say I'm loyal to Studio6 in Lawndale. The MAIN reason for the repeated stay is the impressive service I receive each and every time I visit.||Depending on the room (single/suites) the amenities are slightly different. I have stayed at single rooms (Queen or King Bed, Flat Screen TV, Coffee Maker, Microwave, Refrigerator, Chairs, Closet, Shower/Bathroom and Plugs with USB Ports (a MAJOR plus!). Suites have all of those amenities plus a Double Queen bed and a sofa that pulls out to a twin-size bed.||Lawndale/Hawthorne area has their share of strange and shady people around, day or night. One thing I appreciate about this location is that there is a security guard that roams the property throughout the night. Rooms also have security measures such as a privacy door latch that stops it from opening from outside.|--------------------------------------------------|LOCATION. Studio6 Suites is on the corner of Hawthorne Blvd and W.149th Street in Lawndale. It is right next to a Starbucks (they close at 8PM interior but drive-thru is open until 10PM). It is walking distance on a BUSY Hawthorne Blvd to a small shopping mall with El Super (about 6 minutes' walk) and even a laundromat (not coin-operated, need a plastic card that you deposit money into).||There are fast food eateries like Jack-in-the-Box, WingStop, Panda Express, McDonalds and El Pollo Inka all within 7-10 minutes walking distance. Want something fancier? You will need a car to drive. Or if you have any deliveries/orders (Amazon/UberEats/InstaCart etc.), you will have to meet the delivery person in the parking lot. Only guests and employees can access the hotel elevator using a key card. It may be a little inconvenient, but it is another great security feature so some randos cannot just walk into the building.||PARKING. There is FREE Parking (a VERY cool perk! Most other hotels charge you $15-$50 per night to park in their lot) - it is ONE car per unit to park free of charge. Any additional vehicle will be a charge.||SERVICE. Thanks to their power team, consisting of Jessica, Daniel, Brian and Colleen, even the new person to join their team AJay, from the moment I check-in to having my needs met during my stays, Studio6 has become my home away from home. And I cannot thank enough to Jaiel who, during one late-night shift, was intuitive enough to help avoid a possible safety issue by initiating the security guard on duty (stationed in the parking lot every night after sunset!) to accompany me to my room.||I truly believe this is the work of the owner that makes the staff pleasant to interact with. I appreciate the upgrades, the repairs and the cleanliness (cleaning staff/grounds staff are also the same set of people) of the property.||You will pay a refundable $100 deposit on your stay (for the entire duration, NOT per day) - in cash or card, and should not have issue with the refund if the room is left without damage. If you have a pet, they welcome up to two pets of any size for an additional fee of $10 per pet, per night. Both dogs and cats are allowed.||PROS. The service is one of the best I've experienced over the years in Los Angeles. It is not a 5-star hotel, mind you - there are going to be things left wanting in that luxury. But even at their 2-star hotel rating (less star does not mean bad service, it means the amenities are not as extensive), their service had superseded my expectations from many experiences I've had at higher star hotels.||CONS. If you don't have a car, you would have to walk everywhere. Is that a CON? Not for those who don't mind walking - or taking a bus (the bus stop is up a long block to W 147th St, same side as the hotel). Uber/LYFT is EVERYWHERE so you won't have trouble at ALL catching them quickly on your app.||and...YES, you will hear someone outside your hotel door (some guests are just LOUD). YES, you will smell smoke/cannabis odors in some parts of the property (if you're in the Non-Smoking wing and you smell it near you, call the Front Desk and they will send to address the smokers and even SPRAY the air. Again, some guests are just inconsiderate). YES, the floors are not carpeted (preferred!) so you will hear your upstairs neighbor pulling out their chairs once in a while and hear them walk around. They hear you too below you. YES, you may see bugs sometimes (this IS LA... if you don't see any during your visit, you are BLESSED!). I've seen MORE bugs - even cockroaches! - in OTHER 4-star hotels than ever here. Please let the Front Desk know, they will take care of it to the best of their ability.||PRICE. Rates are comparable and affordable, especially for an extended stay. If you sign up on their app, you can find slightly better rates. If you have AAA or belong in the military, there are...

Read moreStudio6 Suites is in a decent location, there's a security guard at night which is comforting because no matter the neighborhood there are people up to no good every where. We've stayed here a few times and each staff member we've encountered has been professional and polite. The rooms are pretty clean and decent, unfortunately we have come across issues such as missing shelves in shower, missing shelves in closet, missing lamps, broken headboard lamps, outlets not working, missing luggage racks, but I will say for the things that can be replaced or fixed immediately the staff is accommodating. For the most part our stays have been pleasant until recent stays. This establishment allows pets which is not the issue, the owners don't seem to ensure their pets use the restroom in the designated places and when they do they don't pick up the poop as the signs clearly say. They let them pee in the halls and elevators and obviously don't attempt to clean behind them if I'm telling you about it. It's not housekeeping nor maintenance's job to clean behind the pets nor should the other guests have to encounter pee or poop walking through the halls, elevator or any part of the property just as the nonsmoking patrons on the nonsmoking floors (3 and 4),shouldn't have to deal with folks smoking in the hall or smoking in the NON-SMOKING rooms. There are signs posted clearly around the property, when you exit the elevator where there is no smoking it's frustrating that people out right ignore them, but that is also on the establishment if they don't enforce their own rules people don't care and will continue to do whatever they want. All money is not good money. You attract the clientele you choose. This last couple of stays we had to deal with some very loud, unruly, smoking neighbors. Moving rooms wouldn't have helped since these knuckleheads were messing around in the hall being loud at 4am, 6am, sound like they were throwing furniture at some point. I did notify the staff but I don't know what they did if anything, personally those are the patrons you don't welcome back. I hate that we had to deal with these things the last couple stays because this is a good location. There's a laundromat nearby, Starbucks at the corner, walking distance from a few restaurants, grocery stores, dollar tree and you even have a tire shop next door (we ended up needing). I'm hoping Studio6 does better to enforce their rules regarding the pets and smoking. As I said not all money is good money 2 bad tenants can affect 10 from returning, IJS. Since those bad apples left it's been quiet, but the smokers are still running the halls. I think people forget that doors have cracks and even if you try to mask the smoke it still can go into the next room, especially that weed smell. I'm not against pets or smoking but enforce and follow the rules. Some of us choose the nonsmoking floor for health reasons. Anybody that smokes reserve a smoking room/floor,...
