Itās unfortunate that a hotel that I would have given 4.5 stars is now scoring only 3.
This was my first stay at the BW on wildcat in Lincoln. I have been travelling to Lincoln NE twice a year for the last 6 years, staying 4-5 nights each visit. We regularly stay at the Staybridge Suites but have also stayed at the new Holiday inn next door and the Town Place Marriott across the street and the Hilton in the Haymarket.
First, Iāll get out of the way why Iām rating it only 2*. On the last night/morning of our stay we were awoken at 4:45 AM by our smoke detector beeping VERY loudly. I tried 3 times to call the front desk, but no one was answering so I went down from room 432 to the lobby in my pjs to advise them what was happening. The front desk person was there and he grabbed a battery from the desk indicating that the alarm we heard was a low battery signal. Ironically while we waited for the elevator a sign reads something along the lines of āsleep is our priority so please be quiet between 10pm -6amā. I pointed out that they had failed on their own policy. After taking the slowest elevator in the world up to the fourth floor where my husband was still trying to sleep (we had a 12 hour drive ahead of us and certainly did not intend to be up at 4:45am!) the staff member climbed atop one of our chairs at the foot of the bed and changed the battery. At this point I was wide awake and very irritated. This was our fifth night at the hotel and after barely an apology, it will likely be our last. Iām not sure the policy the Best Western has for changing smoke detector batteries but may I suggest that if sleep really is your ābusinessā and āpriorityā that for the $2 cost of a battery you change them on a regularly scheduled maintenance every 3-6 months to ensure that under no circumstances you once again cause a guest to have a horrible sleep experience? Donāt wait until they actually start beeping in the middle of the night. Iām guessing that the room next door heard it too since it was very loud.
The positives for the hotel are; comfortable bed, very clean room (we do check the bed/carpet/furniture with a black light and it was spotless), great shower pressure, nice sized flat screen TV (42ā in the king suite), very quiet, friendly check in, good (albeit standard) breakfast, lots of parking, and excellent air conditioning.
The cons (other than the smoke detector issue) would only be the slow elevator and that the mini fridge was not cold enough to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI decided to stay purely on your overnight Audit Kate. She is so professional and on task. I made a mistake with my reservation dates and could not get the third party to cooperate with such an easy task as rescheduling regardless of the upcharge I had no problem with. She was patient, informative, productive, professional, and a quick problem solver while dealing with multiple other clients with no disruptions or hesitations got the job done. I respect properties that take time to find tech saavy individuals such as Kate that helps make long trips and late nights so convenient and welcomed with a warm smile, a for sure attitude and an absolute solution for weary travelers. I booked third party and never again will I do that when you have a genuine natural chess player providing excellent service and communication heightening an establishment with charisma and positive energy. You would think checking in at 3am with a mistaken date scheduled through a third party would be a huge hassle like others likely are, but no sir, Kate is deserving of a raise as well as promotion of position and I'm sure the several other guests can testify to her skills of multi tasking and comforting energy that made the long trip worth booking with this clean and modern property. Kudos to you young lady for being an original representative of your company instead of the "hire anybody" just to work individuals that have absolutely no personal skills or correct mannerism some companies are hiring since covid hit and lose classy business, or good ole country folk as I from Texas that bring ratings down just to fill a position. I was so appreciative of her hospitality that I offered her $100 tip and she turned it down saying it's her pleasure to accommodate guests with good spirits! Wow! I'm always staying here when I come visit my grandkids. And will be referring others by name and location of this hotel. Nebraska ain't so bad š...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI stayed here for one night. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. While the room was close to perfect, the staff was not. I encountered a total of 4 employees and every one of them was rude. I get that people can have a bad day, but all of their attitudes were over the top.|The weather was bad the afternoon I arrived. There was a line of people trying to find hotel rooms because they wanted to be off of the road. |The gal who checked me in, Diane, was very short with me. She never once used my name or recognized my elite status. But then I realized the other guests who were checking in with the other employee were being treated the same way.|The breakfast gal was pushy. Again, I realize the hotel was busy, but there is no need to push a guest out of the way while they are trying to get breakfast. Politely wait for them to finish dishing their food, and then you can restock the muffins or eggs.|And check out. Wow, I have never had a hotel employee tap their finger so hard on the counter to just drop your room keys on the counter. She did it to the 2 people in front of me, myself and the person behind me. This person was NOT on the phone nor was she helping another guest. I prefer to have a paper receipt when I leave, but it was clear that was not going to happen here.|Had the employees been a little friendlier, I would have rated this place a 5. I can't really rate it a 3 or less because the room was very close to perfect.|This was the 2nd night of an eleven night trip, with the rest of my nights being booked for Best Western with the exception of the very next night. After this experience, I cancelled the rest of my Best Western nights for the trip. I have 2 more week-long trips for 2025 and I have cancelled all of the remaining Best Western night (10 nights total) because of the employees at this location.|I will add, when I return to Lincoln, I will likely stay at a...
