The rooms are nice enough and pretty clean. The woman at the front desk when we checked in in the late afternoon was professional but not friendly. I went out of my way to smile and use humor to get her to smile, but she wasn't having it. She looked at me like I was a Jehovah Witness at her door. There were no creamers or sweeteners or sugars or stir sticks for the coffee in the room, so we had to go out and hunt that from The Breakfast items. The continental breakfast wasn't the best, the powdered eggs must have had salt added to them because I nearly gagged when I first took a bite, it was that salty. The sausage patties looked as if they had just come out of the freezer , even though the breakfast have been open for an hour already. The waffle batter kept sticking to the sides of the waffle maker, making it difficult to extract even though we did exactly as instructed and listened for the beep. There were a few donuts, but they were marked in a box that was an off-brand, and they tasted like off-brand donuts. The only fruit they had was a banana. And when we made hot cocoa, the water marked hot water was just warm. The pool was okay but the jacuzzi was broken. We went to the pool shortly after it opened in the morning but there were only a couple lights turned on, although there were multiple light fixtures in the pool area. I went out to the desk and asked the man working there if he could turn on the other lights for the pool area and he said no. I said, No? You mean because they don't work? And he said, No, we don't turn those on. So we swam in a darkened pool. Moreover, while we were trying to locate items that even 2 star hotels would have in their rooms, we were twice unable to get a hold of anybody. We tried the phone in the room at first and it just rang ad infinitum, then we went up to the front desk and rang the buzzer up there, to no avail. The grounds were pretty clean other than autumn leaves all around the edges of the property. This establishment has the potential to be a really nice hotel, but the lackluster breakfast, the way they treat coffee supplies as if they are precious commodities, and the absolute, utter disregard of our simple wishes to have the lights turned on at the indoor pool during open hours was disconcerting at best,...
Read moreThis is the worst hotel with the most unsympathetic and rude management I have ever dealt with. Our home flooded and we wanted to stay near Orono Schools for our kids to be close to school so we chose this place and ended up leaving 30 minutes after checking in and staying in our flooded home instead of in this hotel. I should have known there would be issues when the front desk man told me my minor children would not be allowed in the hotel room as they are non- registered guests (they are 4 and 6 year olds) and that they will not be let into the hotel room unless insurance calls them back (not me, their mother who had the reservation under my name). I asked him to please just add them (why is this even an issue I’ve NEVER encountered this in my life) and he told me maybe yes I should just find another hotel to stay at and hung up on me. Again, we were displaced due to a flood in our home and were met with zero compassion or hospitality. It was downhill even from there. I’ve never seen so many ridiculous rules posted all over the pool (which was, of course, closed and “reopening sometime soon”) but even when it reopens absolutely no food or drinks in the entire pool area and if you have a non-registered guest visiting they can stay for 2 hours for a charge of $10 per person. Again, the rules are just obnoxious. Also, housekeeping? You can forget about that because they are going to milk COViD19 as an excuse not to have housekeeping services for as long as they can. This is not the Taj Mahal I think it will be ok to try to make your guests stay just a little pleasant. I would sooner sleep in the backseat of my own car...
Read moreClean rooms, nice pool. Horrible customer service! Was promised a discounted rate due to a basketball tournament but was charged more then agreed upon. Upon arrival I was given a room with 1 king bed, NOT the 2 room suite I requested and was on my confirmation. I asked for a roll away for my children and was told it would cost $15 per cot, but they only had 2 for the hotel that were already being used. I have a family of 5 and 1 bed! I then was shown another room that had a pull out coach, but it smelled like smoke! I won't let my kids stay in a smoke infested room! The employee was smoking outside the main entrance. I asked the front desk clerk what should be done about this, and he solution was to blame me as the customer even though my confirmation showed a 2 bedroom suite! They told me to go to their sister hotel instead. ( NOT going to happen) My whole team was in that hotel! I am beyond frustrated with the pass the blame game! I was charge full price for a room I never reserved and to have my kids sleep in other rooms due to the hotel not...
