This was my first time visiting a B&B, but I don't think there will ever be another one to top this experience. My fiancee planned this trip to propose and this was our last stop and the first one after the proposal. They were both there waiting on us to congratulate us with open arms and tons of late night goodies. They had any type of snack food you could want and the romantic suite was absolutely AMAZING! I walked in and was immediately blown away by all that they had done to make our stay unforgettable. There were flowers, chocolate dipped strawberries, chocolate candy I loved everywhere, bath fizzies, and so much more! They made us hot water for tea and left it for us to come back and get whenever we wanted it.
The next morning was just as incredible. We walked into the dining area and the layout of food was unbelievable for just the two of us. Everything was absolutely delicious and the variety of food was incredible. There was bacon, sausage, potatoes, English eggs, baked egg/bread/ham, french toast casserole, fruit, homemade granola, yogurt, juice, and tea. I'm sure I might have left something out and they even offered to cook more if there was something they didn't make we wanted.
Beyond the magnificent accommodations and friendliness of them, the house itself is just beautiful. We walked around the house and took pictures in front of the house and it was a beautiful back drop.
I couldn't have asked for anything better and I'm hoping my fiancee and I can find another reason to go there...
Read moreGot the romantic suite and it was AMAZING. Melanie and Gary are fantastic people and good wow can they cook a mean spread for breakfast! The place is very well kept, very welcoming, and quite simply a better-than-home away from home. My fiancée and I stayed there the night we got engaged, and Melanie set us up like royalty! Flowers, chocolates, baked yummies, sparkling beverages, jacuzzi aromatherapy, homemade chocolate dipped strawberries...I named it, we had it waiting for us!
We got in late - around 9pm. They were there to greet us with hugs and smiles and congratulations, and then after hearing the short version of our trip, they showed us around the beautiful house and directed us to the myriad of snacks and ice creams and drinks and and and... Super hospitable, felt right at home the moment I stepped foot in the back door.
And of course the most amazing breakfast I've had in years if not ever, all cooked up just for us! There were English eggs, bacon, sausages, potatoes, a billion kinds of tea, fresh fruit, homemade granola, vanilla french toast, some form of stacked egg+bread+ham thing that was amazing, juices, every flavor syrup ever, and several "if you want pancakes, or thing A or thing B or made-up-thing C, just say the word!" We were stuffed to the max and it was glorious :)
Never before have I been so spoiled or pleased with a stay away from home in my lifeI just can't say enough good about our stay, and I'm already looking for...
Read moreI stayed at the Candlelite Inn B&B in July 2022 for a quick solo getaway. I walked over from the car ferry dock. It's a healthy distance away, but it was enjoyable to see what downtown Ludington had to offer. There are many historic mansions and B&Bs along the way (Ludington Ave). I was welcomed by Melanie and her family who are so kind, friendly and focused on their guests! I stayed in the Lace Room which was ideal for one guest. Each morning I woke up to the most amazing smells coming from the kitchen below! Such delicious breakfasts with so many tasty offerings, it was the best start to each of the two days I spent in Ludington. The outdoor seating area was a highlight for sure! For my departure, Melanie offered a box to take home a few treats and even provided me with transportation back to the ferry dock. I had planned to walk but was grateful for the ride and conversation with Chuck. I'm so glad that accommodations like this are available! In addition to the warmth and kindness of Melanie and her family, each person I encountered as I walked through town and the beach area was also very friendly. I look forward to going back to Ludington and the Candlelite Inn, via the Badger Ferry, of course!...
