I brought my team to the Cartier Mansion (and Ludington House) for our regional meeting and we could not have asked for a better experience!
I didn't know anything about it until doing some research online. But from the very first phone call, the service and hospitality was top notch! Jenna, Chris, and Amber all worked together to ensure my team of 11 people had an awesome experience. They were with us every step of the way, from planning to the days of there.
When we arrived, ambiance was set with the piano going, a cocktail hour set up, and even our company highlighted in their Scrabble board in the library. Jenna and Chris took time to shake the hands of everyone that checked in and feel like they genuinely cared to get to know everyone. The cocktails were delicious (smoked old fashioned & botanical gin and tonic) and they surprised us with assorted meats and cheeses to snack on. Furthermore, we held our team meeting on-site in the living room of the Ludington House and that made for a perfect venue for team discussion. They even went out of their way to get a TV (monitor) to support our meeting.
As for the rooms, all were great and I'd recommend simply asking about each one before going. They all have their own, unique character and charm. You can't go wrong, its just about personal preference. And the Kilwin's chocolates were a fan favorite.
What I especially appreciated is how they went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience in Ludington in general. It wasn't just about their B&B. They helped us organize our agenda from team activities to dinner reservations. They checked in periodically. It was raining outside and they checked in to see if we needed a ride. A team member lost something and they went around the grounds looking for it while we were out. We forgot crackers for our charcuterie board and they ran to the pantry. The list goes on.
Overall, we went from not knowing a thing about the Cartier Mansion and Ludington, and left talking about the next time we can come back - whether as a group or individually with our spouses. Huge shout out to Amber, Jenna, and Chris - you take Northern Michigan hospitality to a...
Read moreBeautiful place with a wonderful history- Friendly managers- check in and check out was very easy-
We have the king suite with the outside patio. Beautiful room. In hindsight, much more space than we needed. But we fell in love with the patio.🤣 very spacious. A nice sitting room. The bed was comfortable, but it was almost too high for me because I’m short so I had to jump to get in bed and be careful when getting out in the middle of the night.😁 if you are elderly and have any hip or leg knee issues, it might not be the room for you- Very clean and attention to detail- updated and modern but retaining the quaintness, charm- wonderful architecture. Great furniture.
The huge bathroom was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It took us a little bit to understand how to use the shower.🤣 there was a claw tub and also a Jacuzzi tub in there. Nice robes and quality towels-
Upon arrival there was a nice cold bottle of water and little candies-
The only negatives about that room: the road traffic. You could hear the vehicles continuously driving by. And if it was a really busy evening with something going on, the traffic went by for quite a long time.- even though we had curtains, there was a lot of light that came in from the light outside on the street- The refrigerator also woke us up because it suddenly kicked into this loud sound that we thought was maybe some kind of an alarm or something-
Breakfast: now this is of no fault to the establishment, but it was not our kind of food. I know in the future, when we stay there again, we will pass on the breakfast portion of it. We are eggs, bacon ( not candied), potato and toast people😁🩷 I wish that they would post what the breakfast menu is going to be, so when they send you a note asking if you’re going to participate in the breakfast, you know what’s being served-
In a common area, there is an area where you can get snacks, coffee, hot chocolate- They keep well stocked and additional easy to get to if it runs out-
There’s no elevator. You do need to carry your...
Read moreClassy. Charming. Cool. This place is one of the most professional, enjoyable, and memorable experiences I’ve had while traveling. The architecture, and interior decorating are top-notch (I want that library!). It’s a preservationists dream home, and it’s been extremely well done thus far. Had a friendly welcome from Jenna, who was great the entire time. We didn’t have the chance to meet Chris, but that’s okay as he was most likely preparing an amazing breakfast. The mansion had a nice musical instrument room, sitting room, dining room, library and game room. We actually played chess, and were very impressed with the Scrabble and Monopoly sets. We stayed in the carriage house, Hayloft Suite I. Slept three great, but could accommodate 4-5 (depending on policy). Door locks are resettable codes, and very convenient. There were chocolates and water waiting in the room. Had a blow dryer, tv, coffee maker, and fireplace. Lots of good space and high ceiling. They spared no expense renovating, and it shows. Really great taste. The bed was very comfortable and soft, I’m used to firm, but it was great. Pillows were fluffy, and really my only complaint is I was they had a more firm one. Still slept great. Breakfast for the carriage house was at 9:30. The first day we had Orange Lavender Sippers, cranberry scones, Coffee, Almond Brioche French Toast, and bacon (pictured). It was really some wonderful flavor and textures. The French toast had crunch to it, and really stood out. Bacon was crisp. Second day we had blueberry lemonade, ancient grains with apples, Irish egg crock, 22 spice sausage (really awesome, they could make a fortune as a side business), and a spinach blueberry salad. The neighborhood is a nice and walkable except the main road with loud vehicles. The shore isn’t too bad of a walk given flat terrain. Awesome experience. Definitely recommending it to friends, and hope to...
