Our stay at the Ludington House was most excellent. We were Jenna’s and Chris’ guests at their bed and breakfast and we couldn’t be any happier with our visit. Our hosts were engaging, but not overbearing, and made us feel welcome from the moment we met them. The supporting staff (I didn’t catch their names) were also friendly and attentive. You can tell they all take pride in what they do and want to provide the best guest experience possible.
The room we stayed in (The Drafting Room) was snug but efficient, clean and comfortable. Keyless coded entries throughout the house made us feel safe and secure. The breakfasts during our three day stay were outstanding and different every morning. All sorts of new and exciting flavors from around the world. We had to look up some of the food and drink offerings on the internet just to have a better appreciation of what we just had. Great location with a straight shot down Ludington Avenue to Stearns Park and Lake Michigan (about a 20 minute walk, a tad less than 1 mile, flat terrain).
Jenna helped us with our Ludington itinerary, giving us tips on what would be opened or closed on a Monday morning and afternoon in town. Chris helped us to reserve a charging station spot in back of the Cartier Mansion parking lot (for guests only) so we could charge our plug in hybrid EV overnight on our first night in town. Just two examples of them looking out for their guests and making our trip to Ludington so much better.
Ludington is a great getaway destination on its own and we’ve been there many times, me as a youngster and now with my wife, Helen. This was our first time staying at the Ludington House but it will not be our last. Jenna and Chris, thank you for being friendly, attentive and humble hosts. We look forward to staying at the Ludington House or the Cartier Mansion or the Carriage House the next time we travel to this classic city on the coast of Lake Michigan
Sincerely,
Tom...
Read moreMy husband and I spent his birthday weekend getaway in the Nautical Suite, and what a retreat it was! The bed was comfy, the jacuzzi water went up to temp quickly and filled quickly, the personal touches like the sign outside the door welcoming us and the pre-arranged birthday cake surprise were all lovely. The chocolate cake was nice and moist, and even though I'm more of a buttercream fan, this whipped cream frosting was quite good, not overly sweet, and nicely balanced with the rich cake. Then of course there was the historic home itself - already getting decked out for the holidays and with a cozy electric fireplace we sat on a cozy couch and read beside. Seeing the historic pictures was a treat, and the breakfasts were absolutely sumptuous! I loved that the breakfast menus came with little snippets of information about the Ludington House and Cartier House, and each place's menu sheet had different historical information on it. Not to mention that breakfasts were different from day to day, and each was delicious and gourmet. We were also invited to explore the rooms of the Cartier House, with its exquisite library, original wall silks and floors, built-ins in the dining room, imported Italian tiles around the fireplaces...not to mention more historic pictures with descriptions. The history in these two homes is outstanding on on display, and makes the stay all the richer for it. It was also a super easy walk to downtown Ludington for shops and restaurants, even down to Stearns Park and...
Read moreYou will not be disappointed with your stay at the Ludington House B&B! Bob and Ellen are gracious hosts and go out of their way to accommodate any special needs their guests may have. We tried the chocolate covered strawberries (already in our room when we arrived) and they were delicious! The breakfasts are not your ordinary fare. Bob is a great chef and serves unique and delicious dishes. We loved the German Apple pancake as well as the fresh fruit creations that came with our daily breakfast. I appreciated how careful Bob and Ellen were with taking precautions during this time of COVID. They staggered the breakfast times to keep the dining room from being crowded and all guests wore masks outside of their rooms. We were having such a delightful time in Ludington that we decided to stay another night! Our original room was booked, but Bob and Ellen moved us to a different room while we were out playing for the afternoon. They met us that evening back at the B&B and gave us the key to our new room - the Rose Room - which has a newly remodeled bathroom with a luxurious shower. That was a lovely treat after a long day of summer fun! I highly recommend staying at the Ludington House....
