Let me tell you about our awful experience with Hilton home2suites located in Madison, Wi. It was for our anniversary we have 2 young children so getting time away is a rarity, we were very excited. We spent most of the day traveling and at the point of exhaustion and a whopper of a headache we decided to rent a room and prepaid. We arrive and the front desk worker Luis went to run our card for the 50 dollar retainer that we never knew about. It would not go through. We offered to put the retainer in cash which is apparently not possible, he then stated it had to be on a credit card but said it was possible to go to the gas station and put it on a prepaid card. So we put 75 to make sure it was plenty, which cost us an extra 10 dollars to activate a prepaid card. At this point that was the last cash we had on us. We arrive back at the hotel and he then states that they are unable to run a prepaid card after he just said we could and was the one who sent us to do it and refers us to the manager Amber. Well her face instantly said she didn't give 2 craps about the situation they put us in. At first denied me her name to make a complaint. They were unable to help us at all. She had security up front waiting before we even walked back in making us feel like we were in the wrong, when we never even raised our voice. She very rudely stated they couldn't rent us a cheaper room so we could cover the extra fifty and our money wouldn't be returned for another 3 to 7 business days. No offer to help or anything no idea how to rectify the situation just told us to try and find a different hotel but not caring that all our money was tied up in that hotel and no way to get money until we made it home. So for our anniversary celebration we slept in our vehicle. We are dumbfounded that due to the employee having improper training we are short 10 bucks, have to wait for our refund and had to sleep in a vehicle. Absolutely the worst anniversary we...
Read moreThis is a new hotel & the rating on Google misrepresents its quality, so I thought I should post a review. I'll post another one on TripAdvisor when I'll get an email from the hotel requesting me to do so.
The hotel is conveniently located & is around 9 minutes away from downtown. The suites are consistent with every Home2 when it comes to decor & furnishing. I was in a 1 BR + 1 room suite, and didn't face any noise issues, although the hotel was fully occupied due to CrossFit.
I stayed for 5 nights but only had breakfast on one day of my stay because most hotels don't cater to my dietary restrictions, so I can't comment on the quality of breakfast, but it was consistent with other Home2 properties.
This hotel is operated by NCG on behalf of Hilton. NCG runs quite a few hotels in Madison, such as the Marriott Residence Inn in Middleton. The staff here is as polite & accommodating as that at other NCG properties. In fact, I think staying quite often at NCG properties will spoil you because other hospitality companies with Hilton/Marriott franchisee are not as accommodating. I checked out today & checked in at a Marriott branded hotel run by another hospitality company, and I can see the stark difference in management style. I'll make sure that all my future stays in Madison would be at NCG-run properties, although they don't have a Marriott branded hotel close to, or in downtown, except AC Hotel, which isn't as good for long-term stays as...
Read moreAs someone who spends more than half the year traveling for work — and has done so for over a decade — I’ve become incredibly familiar with the rhythms of airports, rental cars, and hotel check-ins. It’s usually a seamless, if unremarkable, routine.
That’s why my recent stay at the Home2 Suites in Madison, Wisconsin, was such a delightful surprise.
In the midst of what has become a predictable travel pattern, I encountered a true standout — a team member named Kenny (or possibly Kenneth). From the moment I arrived, he demonstrated a level of hospitality that was both genuine and extraordinary. He anticipated my needs before I even voiced them, stayed upbeat and engaging, and brought a refreshing sense of enthusiasm to every interaction.
What struck me most was watching him seamlessly connect with a diverse group of guests in the lobby — people from various countries and cultures — and he never missed a beat. He clearly cares about creating an exceptional experience for everyone who walks through the door.
I don’t usually write reviews, but Kenny made this stay memorable enough that I felt compelled to share. If I were to open a hotel tomorrow, he’d be my first hire — without hesitation.
This kind of service is rare, and it deserves to be recognized, and at minimum - I owe a thank you - for eliminating my debate in where to stay in Madison the next 6 times this year... or forever for...
