We just moved to Wisconsin 3 weeks ago. My husband is Salvadorian, so I have an unfair advantage. Back home, his mom made pupusas almost every other weekend for me, and I love them. And we traveled to El Salvador last year, so I may be comparing unfairly.
This place is good.
We got 4 pupusas; 2 beans and cheese, 2 pork and cheese. 30 dollars. It seemed high to us. We found it odd that they did not have lorocco. But when asked, the gentleman cooking said we can't get it fresh enough here so we don't use it. Those were his favorites, too. That's fair. The curtido, which is a pickled slaw, had too much onion for my liking. Also, they only gave 1 little container of the salsa roja for 2 pupusas. You need at least 3 containers for 1 đ
I got a cafe latte added sugar, and I enjoyed it. It's not typical of me to get coffee out, so I don't know if $4.50 is a fair price or not. A regular black coffee was also $4.50. That seemed high to me, too.
Inside, which I did not get photos of was a cute, small, trendy place. It's located on the bottom floor of an apartment complex, I believe, with a few other places also on the bottom floor. Not much seating inside, which was OK. They had 3 tables outside. We sat outside. It was a beautiful day.
Overall. I'd eat here again. My husband agrees. Not like home. But close enough for Wisconsin.
There was other stuff on the menu, tacos, burritos, Salvadorian pastries, we didn't try that stuff, but nice to know...
Read moreI came here with my girlfriend for lunch after she discovered the location. They had tacos, pupusas, burritos and quesadillas. Small lunch menu but everything on it is fantastic which I like. Donât have a huge menu but specialize in the things you do. The price for the lunch items are pretty inexpensive too for the delicious food you get. We dined in and enjoyed the food (and it looked like the coffee was great too by the way they were making it) so when we were done having a couple items each, we were both very full but ordered more food to go. I definitely recommend checking his place out, itâs in kind of a goofy location but the inside is clean and cool looking, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the food is super yummy.
Just order anything, I had the pupusas and the steak tacos and omg so good, looking forward to eating what I brought home.
The only negative I could think of was that a couple of the tables where we sat had a few crumbs of food or grease still on them but it was busy during the lunch hour and seemed like only one person was having to take care of everything going on, so I understand working in the restaurant business sometimes you just forget or donât have time to completely clean all the tables, especially during a lunch rush. It was something hard to notice too considering the inside looks very...
Read moreThis place is fantastic! I had no idea it existed near Summit Credit Union practically at the BP on Rimrock Rd, just past the Alliant Energy Center, until I started working at that venue full time. They have El Salvadoran quesadillas (which are absolutely nothing like Mexican quesadillas). They're perfect for dunking in their coffee that is as good or better than you'll get anywhere.
I had their 10" burrito with pork today for lunch. Last time I did the full 12" steak. Both were fantastic, and shaped like burritos not like softballs... They always provide salsa, a verde sauce and some house made (I think) tortillas. Very fair price.
I sound like some paid reviewer or an owner or something I know, but, I just really hope they do well as it's a GREAT option in an area that has few. I can make it there in my half hour lunch break and get back with time to eat, which speaks to their speed. I go in an obvious uniform so I think they pick up that I'm on my lunch break and they actually seem to rush for me. They make me feel very welcome and appreciated.
It's really a unique place and absolutely delicious. I absolutely...
